Gao Haiming sat in his office, his eyes fixed on his computer screen as he searched for strategies to win over a woman's heart. He was so absorbed that he barely noticed Luo Zhou entering. Luo Zhou observed his boss's unusual behavior and offered to help, but Haiming dismissed him, noting that since Luo Zhou wasn't part of Lin Huan'er’s family, he couldn't possibly provide useful advice.
This remark gave Haiming a sudden spark of inspiration: if he wanted to get closer to Huan'er, he needed to start with her family. Learning that Huan'er’s father wanted to transfer her younger sister, Lin Le'er, to a new school, Haiming quickly gathered brochures for several prestigious private institutions like Dele and Yucai. The next morning, he arrived at Huan'er’s doorstep just as she was preparing for work.
He informed her that he had already arranged for her to have the day off so they could tour campuses together. While Huan'er was hesitant, Le'er was thrilled and dragged her sister to the car. Even the neighbors noticed the trio, mistaking Haiming and Huan'er for a well-matched married couple and teasing them about a future wedding invitation. During their tour, Le'er made it clear that her primary criteria for a school was the quality of the nearby snack stalls.
Instead of prioritizing the academic reputation of the schools, the sisters focused on the street food. Haiming initially voiced concerns about the health risks of fried snacks, but Le'er challenged him, suggesting that if he wanted to pursue her sister, he needed to be more flexible. Realizing he had missed out on a normal childhood due to his rigid upbringing, Haiming decided to let go of his CEO persona.
He joined them in feasting on cotton candy and grilled chicken legs. As they rested later, Le'er teased her sister, claiming their romantic progress was far too slow and suggesting that Huan'er needed to read more romance novels to learn how to handle a relationship. The following day, Huan'er found herself intentionally avoiding Haiming at the office.
Sensing the tension, Haiming called her in to ask if his recent actions had made her feel uncomfortable or if she had grown to dislike the company. Huan'er clarified that she didn't dislike being there but struggled to explain her complicated feelings before making a hasty exit. Later that afternoon, she noticed Haiming’s office was empty. Luo Zhou informed her that Haiming had suddenly come down with a forty-degree fever and was home alone.
Worried, Huan'er offered to accompany Luo Zhou to the villa to deliver some files. Once they arrived near the villa, Luo Zhou sent a message to Haiming, who immediately hopped into bed to play the part of a fragile patient. He told Huan'er that his housekeepers, Mr. Lu and Ms. Fang, were away on family business. While Haiming rested, Huan'er wandered into the living room to look at his impressive collection of fighter jet models.
Haiming used this distraction to buy time, eventually presenting her with a thermometer that he had manipulated to show a life-threatening forty-two degrees. Panicked, Huan'er insisted on taking him to the hospital. However, once they were on the road, a second temperature check revealed that Haiming was perfectly normal at 36. 8 degrees. Huan'er realized he had faked the illness and was about to head home when the car’s engine suddenly failed for real.
Despite the cold, Haiming insisted on trying to fix the car himself and gave his coat to Huan'er to keep her warm. By the time they made it back inside the villa, the exposure to the cold had caused Haiming to develop a genuine fever of 39. 1 degrees. Seeing his condition, Huan'er felt obligated to stay and care for him. As evening fell, both realized they were hungry.
Huan'er ventured into the kitchen but, realizing she didn't know how to stir-fry and that congee would take too long, she used a rice cooker to prepare a "lazy" braised pasta dish. Haiming was pleasantly surprised by the meal and used his illness as a reason to convince Huan'er to stay the night in the guest room. Huan'er called her friend Zhu Mengmeng to explain she wouldn't be coming home.
At that moment, Mengmeng was with Hu Tiehan, who was encouraging her about an upcoming singing competition. During their conversation, Mengmeng dropped her wallet, and Hu Tiehan helped her pick it up, discovering that she still carried a drawing he had given her as a birthday gift back in the 11th grade. They shared a nostalgic moment, with Hu Tiehan praising her unique, pure talent and asking to meet again.
Back at the villa, Huan'er was settling in when her pager suddenly buzzed with a quest: she was required to perform a "Compulsory Wall Slam" on Haiming within three minutes. With only one time-rewind opportunity left, she didn't dare fail. She rushed into Haiming’s bedroom and forced him to get out of bed, claiming movement would help his circulation.
As he stood up unsteadily, she pulled him toward her, causing him to brace his hands against the wall to balance himself. The quest was successfully completed, and a notification showed that Haiming’s fondness had reached eighty-two percent. Embarrassed, Huan'er quickly retreated. However, later that night, the sound of mysterious footsteps in the hallway terrified her, and she ran back into Haiming's room seeking safety.
