Zhao Lusi Publicly Accuses Her Agency: Declares “I’m Done”

On the evening of August 2, Zhao Lusi, a popular Chinese actress, posted a lengthy statement on social media directly calling out her agency, YinheKuyu Media, for multiple breaches of contract. She publicly declared, “I’m done.”
Incident Unfolds: Zhao Lusi Accuses Her Agency Late at Night
On the night of August 2, 2025, Zhao Lusi published a long post on her personal Weibo, tagging YinheKuyu Media and accusing the company of numerous contractual violations. In her post, she wrote: “I’ve waited all this time but still received no communication. I foolishly renewed my contract two years ago, and there are still four years left. Since they’re in no rush, I’m the one left suffering.”
Zhao revealed that at the end of 2024, she suffered a sudden and severe illness—depression and somatic disorder that led to aphasia and loss of mobility—which forced her to cancel some brand endorsements and drama shoots. While the company had promised to cover the losses, they instead deducted 2.05 million yuan from her studio account without consultation and demanded an additional 6.8 million yuan in compensation.
She angrily questioned: “Do they think it’s okay to just withdraw money from my studio without any negotiation? And trick my finance team into signing off on profit-sharing documents?”

Mounting Conflicts: From Financial Disputes to Health Exploitation
In her post, Zhao detailed a long-standing conflict with YinheKuyu Media that had gone unresolved for eight months:
1. Infringement of Financial Rights
- The company forcibly withdrew 2.05 million yuan from her studio account without prior agreement.
- Her finance team was allegedly deceived into signing profit distribution documents.
- The agency refused to return control over her studio operations, leaving her with only 2–3 team members.

2. Health Exploitation and Mental Harm
- Zhao shared results from a psychological evaluation dated July 16, 2025, showing she was suffering from severe anxiety (score: 73) and severe depression (score: 75).
- The company allegedly concealed her condition and suppressed news of her illness—until photos of her in a wheelchair shocked the internet.
- She was prohibited from appearing publicly under the threat of being “blacklisted.”
3. Contractual Bullying and Termination Deadlock
- The current contract runs through 2030, and terminating it may cost Zhao around 400 million yuan (estimated at 10 times her annual income or tens of millions per drama).
- During negotiations, senior management reportedly used emotional manipulation—claiming family illness—to ask for her understanding.
- After eight months of waiting, no real progress had been made.
Zhao expressed her heartbreak in the post: “Eight months of waiting for a resolution. Is this the result? The crew disbanded—is that the result? Everyone left—is that the result? And in the end, I’m the one paying for it—is that the result?”

Background: From “Savior” to “Scapegoat”
Zhao Lusi began working with YinheKuyu Media in 2016, when the company was on the verge of bankruptcy (with losses exceeding 100 million yuan over two years). Her breakout success in 2020 with The Romance of Tiger and Rose helped save the agency and even reversed Alibaba Pictures’ decision to drop its acquisition.
However, after her rise to fame, Zhao was reportedly subjected to intense exploitation:
- Forced into starring in the company’s self-produced series Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling.
- Compelled to act alongside other contracted artists.
- Her career plans were repeatedly ignored.
In December 2024, Zhao suffered a breakdown from depression and was rushed to the hospital. She was in a wheelchair, unable to speak or walk, and all work was halted. On January 1, 2025, she posted a statement on Weibo revealing her condition, disclosing that her weight had dropped to just 36.9 kg. For the next six months, Zhao remained on a health hiatus and did not return to filming.
