> The Destiny of White Snake Recap

A celestial crane arrives on Mount Jiuxi with Deity Herbs to aid Xu Xuan and Bai Yaoyao in their recovery. Xu Xuan thanks the crane for interceding with the Herb Deity on Bai Yaoyao's behalf, which spared her from death. The crane reveals that the Herb Deity's leniency was also influenced by a prior encounter between Xu Xuan and the Herb Deity, a connection Xu Xuan has no memory of, which the crane cryptically states he will understand in time.

Reflecting on her own past, the crane expresses regret for not having pursued Zi Xuan (Xu Xuan's past deity self) with the same persistence that Bai Yaoyao showed a millennium ago. Xu Xuan then changes the subject, seeking advice on how to appease his master, the Green Emperor, as Zi Xuan did not wish to dwell on old matters.

The crane reassures him that Green Emperor, despite his stern demeanor, deeply cares for Xu Xuan, having worried incessantly during his mortal trial. She reveals that Green Emperor secretly kept the Mirror of Ice to watch over him and even fought the Minister of Fate to arrange Xu Xuan's placement in the Apothecary House. Bai Yaoyao awakens in Zi Xuan's room on Mount Jiuxi, and Xu Xuan gently encourages her to rest.

She recognizes the room as Zi Xuan's and vividly recalls their past life there, remembering rubbing ink for him and learning to read and write, play the zither, and practice cultivation. She expresses deep regret for her youthful immaturity and her failure to cherish those days, now realizing they were the happiest of her life and that being human is far more challenging than she had anticipated.

Xu Xuan playfully teases her about transforming into a white snake to avoid studying. Longing to revisit their memories, Bai Yaoyao insists that Xu Xuan take her to see Mount Jiuxi immediately, despite his suggestion to wait until her full recovery, emphasizing that she has already waited a thousand years for this moment. Xu Xuan concedes, and they journey to the very spot where they first met.

Bai Yaoyao recalls herself as a clumsy white snake emerging from the water, nearly killed by Zi Xuan. She remembers him meditating by the hot spring and her unexpected transformation into human form there. It was at this very spot that Ling Chu later tried to take her snake heart, only to be stopped by Zi Xuan.

Xu Xuan playfully suggests her transformation was spurred by her eagerness to see him, to which Bai Yaoyao admits her desire for human legs, a pleasant voice, and the ability to play the zither like him. She then boldly asks if it was love at first sight for Xu Xuan, before confessing that she had fallen in love with him when she was still a small white snake. Xu Xuan teases her for her straightforwardness.

As Bai Yaoyao and Xu Xuan share these tender moments, Ling Chu arrives with Xiao Qing. Ling Chu expresses regret, believing that if he had taken Bai Yaoyao's snake heart in the past, Xu Xuan might have been spared his tribulations and achieved deityhood. Xu Xuan fiercely defends Bai Yaoyao, warning Ling Chu against bullying his wife and threatening tenfold retribution.

Ling Chu playfully scoffs at Xu Xuan's lack of regard for their brotherhood, while Xiao Qing remarks on their constant bickering. Despite their arguments, their brotherhood has become even stronger after experiencing so much together. With Bai Yaoyao's injuries healing, Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao, whose mortal trials are not yet complete, prepare to depart from Mount Jiuxi. They visit Green Emperor to bid farewell. Green Emperor expresses his concern solely for Xu Xuan.

While Green Emperor offers no other explicit instructions, Xu Xuan states that he understands Mount Jiuxi is not a permanent home for Bai Yaoyao and that Green Emperor does not approve of their marriage. Xu Xuan affirms his intention to return to Jinshan Temple to complete his practice, and Green Emperor wishes him a safe completion of his trials. Qi Xiao appears hesitant to speak during this meeting, a detail Xu Xuan notices.

As they leave, Xu Xuan confronts Qi Xiao, pressing him about a calamity he had previously alluded to and sensing that Green Emperor is concealing something. After some initial reluctance, Qi Xiao reveals that Green Emperor persuaded Bai Yaoyao to transfer the 'Fate of Seven Prowesses' from Xu Xuan to herself. Xu Xuan possesses this Fate of Seven Prowesses, which is extremely Yin, while heavenly thunder is extremely Yang.

For his mortal body to resist heavenly thunder with this fate would be suicidal. Green Emperor allowed Xu Xuan and Bai Yaoyao to stay on Mount Jiuxi because after Xu Xuan resisted the heavenly thunder, the Fate of Seven Prowesses began to backfire, leaving him with little lifespan. Green Emperor informed Bai Yaoyao of this, prompting her decision to transfer his fate to herself.

This decision was known by the White Emperor, Green Emperor, and Qi Xiao, but hidden from Xu Xuan. Xu Xuan realizes this explains Bai Yaoyao's recent nostalgic behavior and her desire to revisit their past on Mount Jiuxi, confirming his suspicion that she is preparing for a final farewell.

Xu Xuan then instructs Qi Xiao to keep his knowledge of the fate transfer a secret from Bai Yaoyao and even from Green Emperor, implying he has a plan of his own. Leng Ning, having embraced sorcery, has transformed into a demon and now wields impressive power. She feels liberated and vows to exact revenge on those who wronged her. Taotie appears, acknowledging her progress and her demonic transformation.

Leng Ning boasts that she gained her new power from a magical object he left behind and asserts that she will no longer be his pawn, declaring her intent to kill him. Taotie remarks on her newfound viciousness and how her practice now rivals his.

Leng Ning blames Bai Yaoyao and Taotie for her descent, but Taotie counters that her own malevolent thoughts led her down this path, arguing that no one can force an ordinary person to become a demon. Feeling there is no turning back, Leng Ning attacks Taotie. However, Taotie, aided by his Vine Demon, proves superior. The Vine Demon ambushes Leng Ning, planting a seed in her heart that causes her excruciating pain if she disobeys Taotie.

Taotie gloats that he will always find a way to control her, effectively making her his puppet once more. He then reveals his intention to use the Apothecary House, a place he deems perfect for cultivation, a threat Leng Ning desperately tries to avert, vowing to haunt him even in death if he harms it. To prevent Bai Yaoyao from altering his fate, Xu Xuan uses the Mirror of Ice to peer into destiny.

The mirror reveals that whoever bears the Fate of Seven Prowesses will be condemned to eternal darkness, akin to a living hell. He also witnesses Taotie having regained his physical form. He informs Green Emperor that their past encounters with Taotie were hampered by their limited powers and forgotten memories, allowing Taotie to escape.

Now, with his magical prowess restored, Xu Xuan is determined to prevent Taotie from committing further atrocities against mortals, despite Green Emperor's warning not to defy destiny. Green Emperor reminds him that his previous sacrifice only sealed the Water Dragon and that Taotie's return suggests thorough preparation. He also points out that Xu Xuan's powers are not fully recovered due to the Soul Collecting Light and the backlash from the thunder shots on his mortal body.

Xu Xuan, however, remains resolute, compelling Green Emperor to concede that the ancient conflict between Xu Xuan and Taotie must eventually be resolved. Meanwhile, Bai Yaoyao attempts to paint Xu Xuan's portrait as a memento, but struggles to focus. Xu Xuan teases her for moving too much and for daydreaming, warning her that no one will be able to help her if she continues.

Bai Yaoyao, internally lamenting the impermanence of their current peaceful days, finds her eyes welling with tears as she paints, a subtle sign of her impending departure, making the paper damp. Xu Xuan observes her distress but feigns ignorance, continuing their playful bickering, knowing how long such days can last is uncertain.

On the anniversary of her father's death, Leng Ning, feeling she has not upheld his legacy, announces a thirty-day period of free medical consultation at the Apothecary House, aiming to honor his spirit of saving lives. The staff expresses concerns about this unprecedented move, citing the Apothecary House's traditional isolation, the societal mistrust of the Duan Yang School due to its Poison Scroll, and the potential financial strain of such a long period of free treatment.

Leng Ning reassures them that she has secured support from city medical suppliers and appeals to their understanding, emphasizing her personal commitment to her father's memory. The staff, swayed by her resolve, ultimately agree to support her initiative. Concurrently, Xiao Qing assists Bai Yaoyao with packing, preparing to leave Mount Jiuxi. Xiao Qing questions Bai Yaoyao's decision to depart from such a divine place, where she could easily achieve deityhood.

Bai Yaoyao, however, expresses her preference for the freedom of the mortal world over the restrictive life on Mount Jiuxi under Green Emperor, and states she is eager to return home. As they pack, Xiao Qing spots a painting of the Queen Mother's Heavenly Peaches and, intrigued, asks if Bai Yaoyao has ever seen a real one.

Bai Yaoyao proudly reveals that she has not only seen but also eaten a Heavenly Peach, sharing half of it with Xu Xuan, much to Xiao Qing's envy. Xu Xuan playfully interjects that Bai Yaoyao actually consumed most of it herself. Later, Green Emperor confronts Xu Xuan, asking if he has truly made up his mind about a certain decision. Xu Xuan confirms his unwavering resolve and assures Green Emperor he will not regret his promise. He then requests Green Emperor to grant Bai Yaoyao three gifts in return for his full-hearted cultivation, hoping his wish will be fulfilled.
