Bo Hai was found trembling and collapsed on the bathroom floor, where he had been showering unconscious. Chen Mo and Zhou Xinyan, worried about his absence, had used a spare key card to enter his apartment after failing to get a response at the door. Meanwhile, Wen Guangqi, who had orchestrated the previous fire, listened to reports on the exhibition's progress, anticipating Bo Hai's downfall.
Mo Nan moved into Ling Lingqi’s home, where he was enthusiastically welcomed by Ling Lingqi and Lu Baoni. The small rooftop room was covered in dust, but the three of them spent the entire day diligently cleaning and tidying it until it was finally habitable. Afterwards, the trio celebrated their efforts with cake and drinks, enjoying their lively gathering.
Later that evening, Ling Lingqi’s mother, having assumed Mo Nan had moved in because he harbored feelings for Ling Lingqi, gave a stern warning to a tipsy Ling Lingqi when she came downstairs. The next day, a clear-headed Bo Hai discussed his condition with Chen Mo and Zhou Xinyan, revealing he suffered from intermittent color blindness. With the art exhibition just a day away, Bo Hai’s health prevented him from completing the design work.
Chen Mo suggested finding a ghost designer to substitute for Bo Hai, a proposal Zhou Xinyan found acceptable. However, Bo Hai adamantly refused, preferring to breach the contract rather than use a stand-in. Concerned, Zhou Xinyan and Chen Mo left Bo Hai’s home, deciding to proceed with the plan without his explicit consent. At the venue, employees wondered about Bo Hai's absence. Ling Lingqi also expressed her concern. Chen Mo arrived and reassured everyone, then dismissed them early.
Although surprised, the staff harbored no serious suspicions. Later, Ling Lingqi, Mo Nan, and Lu Baoni returned to Ling Lingqi’s father’s supermarket, where they discovered immortal flowers bearing the FlowerPlus logo that were not genuine products of the company. Ling Lingqi’s father, looking guilty, quickly ushered the three out and put the counterfeit flowers back on the shelf.
The exhibition venue was soon sealed off, and Chen Mo and Zhou Xinyan brought in a ghost designer to work on the site. Bo Hai, however, was not easily fooled. He returned to the venue in time to discover the deception and erupted in fury. He prepared to confess the truth to Li Qingzhu, but Zhou Xinyan intervened, portraying Bo Hai as a selfish boss who disregarded his employees’ livelihoods.
Bo Hai realized there was truth in her words; if his intermittent color blindness became public, his career would end, FlowerPlus would collapse, and countless employees would lose their jobs. Faced with this grim reality, Bo Hai reluctantly agreed to let the ghost designer continue. Ling Lingqi and Lu Baoni were enjoying hotpot on Mo Nan’s rooftop when Ling Lingqi suddenly remembered unfinished business at the venue. She rushed back only to find the hall tightly sealed.
Forced to enter through a rooftop window, she stumbled upon the ghost designer working on Bo Hai’s behalf. Ling Lingqi was aghast, unable to believe that the flower art master she so admired would resort to such a tactic. She felt that the Bo Hai she had once revered, his works and his character, were all a facade, and he was nothing more than a hypocrite.
Her emotions shattered, Ling Lingqi attempted to flee but accidentally made a noise, leading to her discovery. Zhou Xinyan threatened Ling Lingqi, demanding she keep silent about what she had seen. Bo Hai then sent Zhou Xinyan and Chen Mo away, insisting on speaking with Ling Lingqi alone. He tried to explain that using a ghost designer was not his original intention, asking if she still trusted him.
Perhaps wanting to preserve her cherished illusions, Ling Lingqi unhesitatingly affirmed her trust. However, Bo Hai’s demeanor abruptly shifted, and he coldly declared himself a talentless and unscrupulous hypocrite. His harsh words shattered Ling Lingqi’s last remaining illusions. Bo Hai continued to wound Ling Lingqi with his words, each one piercing her heart. Ling Lingqi immediately declared her resignation and threatened to expose his use of a ghost designer.
At the bus stop, Ling Lingqi recalled her past adoration for Bo Hai: watching his shows and interviews, collecting his posters, abandoning her original career to study floral art, and applying to FlowerPlus for three consecutive years. Lu Baoni’s constant warnings to stay away from Bo Hai echoed in her ears, along with Bo Hai’s recent self-description as a scoundrel.
Back home, Ling Lingqi informed Mo Nan of her decision to resign, but she did not reveal Bo Hai’s use of a ghost designer. This silence was perhaps her final act of tenderness towards her former idol and marked the complete demise of her last fantasy. Bo Hai, too, returned home, reflecting on the words spoken by Zhou Xinyan and Ling Lingqi, his eyes filled with helplessness. The following day, Ling Lingqi completed her resignation procedures.
Chen Mo pleaded with her to stay, but she refused. When Chen Mo reported Ling Lingqi's resignation to Bo Hai, he misrepresented her stance, making it sound as though she demanded Bo Hai kneel and beg for her forgiveness, which infuriated Bo Hai. At the same time, Bo Hai received a list of stores selling counterfeit FlowerPlus immortal flowers. After resigning, Ling Lingqi’s mother arranged for her to work as a shop assistant in her father’s small supermarket.
Ling Lingqi felt a pang of regret for the four years of youth she had seemingly "wasted" on Bo Hai. However, being inherently optimistic, she quickly shook off her worries and amused herself in the family supermarket. It was then that Bo Hai arrived at Ling Lingqi’s home. On the rooftop, Ling Lingqi assumed Bo Hai had come to apologize and implore her not to expose his use of a ghost designer.
Instead, Bo Hai produced a list of establishments selling fake FlowerPlus immortal flowers, and her family's small supermarket was prominently listed. Ling Lingqi was momentarily speechless, unable to defend herself. Bo Hai then demanded Ling Lingqi return to the company, presenting her with an employment contract for a special assistant. Ling Lingqi had no choice but to sign, instantly reversing their power dynamic. As Bo Hai left, he further instructed Ling Lingqi to work as his housekeeper.
Ling Lingqi was furious but had no outlet for her anger. Ling Lingqi’s mother, misunderstanding the situation, believed Bo Hai was interested in Ling Lingqi and urged her to quickly "catch" this eligible bachelor. Ling Lingqi sat on her bed, her head aching as she pondered her life.
