Synopsis
The drama is set in Nanjing in 1948. It tells the story of Ren Shaobai, an underground Communist Party member who has been hiding for years after his single-line contact was sacrificed. He later risks using a radio to save the intelligence network and connects with his new superior Peng Yongcheng through a military payroll embezzlement case, gradually becoming the trusted assistant of the intelligence department director.
Lan Youyin, the widow of Qiao Mingyu and a mathematical genius, secretly plans to assassinate a military intelligence officer. Her relationship with Ren Shaobai evolves from hostility to cooperation.
In the end, to protect Ren Shaobai, Peng Yongcheng sacrificed himself, and Lan Youyin also converted her faith under the influence of Peng Yongcheng and Ren Shaobai.
