Tian Peilan passed by a room and found Tian Tian alone inside, murmuring something. Tian Peilan's curiosity was piqued, and she directly went in to ask Tian Tian. Seeing Tian Tian avoiding, Tian Peilan snatched the phone to see for herself. To her disbelief, Tian Tian was searching for ways to please the other party's parents. Tian Peilan continued to inquire about Tian Tian and Shen Mi's current progress. Tian Tian revealed that Shen Mi had told her yesterday evening that he wanted to go to his home for dinner with his mother. Tian Peilan couldn't help but think in that direction, and Tian Peilan straightforwardly stated that it was indeed a problem; otherwise, why would he want to go home! While the two were discussing intensely, Tian Yuxian suddenly interrupted. Hastily, they pretended to discuss the Pet Medicine Competition. After fooling Tian Yuxian, Tian Peilan took Tian Tian to the mall to make some preparations.

In the mall, Tian Peilan, disregarding the price, tore off labels and bought clothes she liked. They also carefully selected gifts for Shen Mi's mother. Encouraged by Tian Peilan, Tian Tian set off. Nervous, she kept checking herself in the mirror and adjusting her clothes. Shen Mi teased her about being nervous, and she tried to play it off casually. In the living room, while Shen Mi and Tian Tian sat on one side, Han Mengnan kept talking to Shen Mi's mother, giving the impression of being familiar with the family. Tian Tian felt she had lost a lot of ground in terms of momentum. After a while, Shen Mi's mother remembered to inquire about Tian Tian. When she learned Tian Tian's age, she marveled at Tian Tian's fashion, making Tian Tian embarrassed. Han Mengnan, playing the part, still spoke in support of Tian Tian, but with each word, she seemed to be needling into Tian Tian's heart. To ease the atmosphere, Tian Tian took out the prepared gift, a lavender-scented pillow. However, Shen Mi's mother exploded, showing no good expression, and left directly. Shen Mi hurriedly explained that his mother couldn't stand lavender after his father's death, as it was his father's favorite flower. Feeling guilty, Tian Tian, with courage, still sat at the dining table. While trying to help Shen Mi's mother with the food, Tian Tian was blocked by Han Mengnan at every step. Everything was going so wrong. Shen Mi's mother even brought up the marriage between Han Mengnan and Shen Mi, making Shen Mi visibly unhappy. Tian Tian wanted to find an opportunity to leave, but Shen Mi protected her behind him.

After returning, both found it challenging to speak. Even though Shen Mi apologized, Tian Tian couldn't control her sadness. Shen Mi's WeChat status remained "typing," and Tian Tian couldn't sleep, but neither of them spoke. The next day at work, things were still awkward between them. Shen Mi specially handed a coffee to Tian Tian as an apology, but Tian Tian, saying it was okay, ran away. In reality, she went to Tian Peilan to pour out her grievances, as everything had gone wrong. Shen Mi, with an engagement agreed upon by both sets of parents and a childhood friend, had messed everything up. Tian Tian couldn't stop her tears, and Tian Peilan could only accompany her. When Tian Tian went to the office, Shen Mi pretended to be busy and said he had something in the evening. Both had to leave separately. As Tian Tian left, Shen Mi held his head in anguish. The atmosphere between the two was just too awkward, even for the usually proud Shen Mi at Green River. Tian Tian continued her regular work, but when work ended, she would accidentally catch a glimpse of Shen Mi leaving. Tian Tian still observed Shen Mi secretly, feeling deeply concerned.

In the evening, Shen Mi met Han Mengnan, who handed him a repaired guitar—a shared memory of theirs that Shen Mi seemed to have forgotten. Han Mengnan was deeply saddened.
