Xu Xuan, consumed by despair after Zhan Huang took Bai Yao Yao, relentlessly searched for her for three days and nights using the Mirror of Ice. His master, Green Emperor, observed that Xu Xuan's power was dwindling and even if he located her, he wouldn't be able to discern her situation. Distraught, Xu Xuan confessed his helplessness, lamenting his repeated defeats by Zhan Huang and his inability to protect his wife.
Green Emperor tried to console him, pointing out Zhan Huang's cunning and Xu Xuan's own exhaustion. Overwhelmed by Fa Hai's coma, his wife's uncertain whereabouts, and his own perceived powerlessness, Xu Xuan cried out in anguish. Meanwhile, White Emperor confronted Green Emperor, accusing Xu Xuan of making an enemy of the Empyrean Heaven by allowing Zhan Huang to escape. Green Emperor defended his disciple, stating that Xu Xuan was merely protecting his wife.
White Emperor retorted that Bai Yao Yao was known to be married to Zhan Huang, questioning Xu Xuan's continued loyalty. Green Emperor then shifted the blame, criticizing White Emperor for focusing on Xu Xuan while Zhan Huang remained at large. White Emperor countered that capturing Zhan Huang was no easy task and challenged Green Emperor to offer a solution. Green Emperor revealed his intention to free Xiao Qing, minimizing her role in the Kunlun havoc and questioning White Emperor's harshness.
White Emperor argued that with 30,000 Heaven Soldiers dead and Zhan Huang escaped, executing Xiao Qing would be necessary to appease the public. During this exchange, Xiao Xiang reported to White Emperor that she had separately confined Dragon King and Tao Tie, awaiting the Empyrean Heaven's judgment. Because Xu Xuan allowed Zhan Huang to escape under everyone's watchful eyes, Heavenly Emperor personally decreed a punishment for him.
Before undergoing it, Xu Xuan pleaded with his master, Bai Cao Xian Jun (referred to as Lord Deity), to delay the punishment until he could find Bai Yao Yao. Bai Cao Xian Jun, supporting his disciple, assured him of protection. Later, in a discussion about the ongoing chaos, Xiao Xiang questioned the strategy for restoring peace to the three realms. She posited that the current unrest stemmed from the Black Dragon (Water Dragon) being merely sealed rather than killed.
She argued that if the Black Dragon were killed, the Demon and Dragon tribes might lose hope, but perhaps the three realms could then truly achieve peace, a viewpoint countered by others who feared such an act would lead to widespread riot and further danger. Elsewhere, the small demons, now revived as half-deity, half-demon beings thanks to the Queen Mother's blessings and the celestial aura of the Garden of Heavenly Peaches, reunited with Xu Xuan.
They expressed their gratitude and their concern upon learning of Fa Hai's injury and Bai Yao Yao's disappearance. When Xu Xuan revealed that Bai Yao Yao was in Zhan Huang's hands, the demons immediately offered their aid to rescue her from Bei Huang. However, Xu Xuan, in utter despair, confessed that he couldn't find any trace of her in all three realms.
Zhan Huang recounted his past to Bai Yao Yao, hoping to justify his ambition to attack the Empyrean Heaven. He revealed that he and the Heavenly Emperor were twin brothers, sharing the same face, but due to Zhan Huang's "Fate of Dubhe," he was destined for failure and forbidden from entering the Empyrean Heaven, while his brother became the revered ruler.
Zhan Huang disclosed that to conceal Heavenly Emperor's own demon ancestry, Heavenly Emperor and Lord Deity (Bai Cao Xian Jun) had conspired to spread the false rumor that Tao Tie bore the Fate of Dubhe. He scornfully dismissed Lord Deity's claim that banishing him to the Mortal world was a "way out," accusing them of false kindness. Zhan Huang defiantly declared his intention to fight against Heaven, vowing to "righteously return to the Empyrean Heaven" one day.
The Heavenly Emperor, visiting Zhan Huang in the mortal realm, urged him to go to Bei Huang and unite the chaotic Demon clan, which was causing unrest across the realms. Zhan Huang dismissed his brother's advice as pretentious, asserting his independence. Heavenly Emperor explained his philosophy for the three realms, emphasizing the need for order and entrusting Zhan Huang with the crucial task of governing the Demon clan.
Heavenly Emperor then imparted to Zhan Huang the "Command of Nature," a powerful artifact meant to rule all demons, despite Zhan Huang questioning his brother's courage in doing so. Zhan Huang subsequently went to Bei Huang and asserted his dominance. After defeating Ni Yun and other demon leaders, he wielded the Command of Nature, compelling the demons to submit.
He rallied them by reminding them of the Demon tribe's ancient glory as rulers of the three realms, contrasting it with their current fragmented state. Ni Yun and the other demons acknowledged him as their new Demon Emperor. However, Zhan Huang viewed Heavenly Emperor's assistance as manipulation, a "sham" designed to placate him out of fear and make him a subservient ruler. Bai Yao Yao challenged Zhan Huang, suggesting he lacked conscience for seeking war despite Heavenly Emperor's guidance.
She argued that his true failing was his self-centeredness, never considering the welfare of others, unlike Heavenly Emperor who had sacrificed his cultivation for all living beings, leading to thousands of years of seclusion. Bai Yao Yao concluded that Zhan Huang's defeat to Heavenly Emperor was inevitable and deserved. Bai Yao Yao, recognizing that she had nourished both Xu Xuan's and Zhan Huang's spirits, pondered a way to restrain Zhan Huang.
Recalling how Xu Xuan's fate had been partially restored during a blood moon, she wondered if she could somehow manipulate Zhan Huang's "Fate of Dubhe." She had previously sent Xiao Hui to Kunlun's library to find an ancient book about fate that Xu Xuan had mentioned. Xiao Hui returned with a seemingly blank book, which Bai Yao Yao brought with her after her abduction.
Zhan Huang, through his minion, informed Bai Yao Yao that in three days, under the full moon, he would use a magic array to extract her "Fate of Dubhe." Bai Yao Yao, remembering Fa Hai's fate being taken after he drank Qilin blood, feared Zhan Huang would poison her food. She refused to eat anything, enduring intense hunger. While Bai Yao Yao slept, Zhan Huang's minion checked on her.
Zhan Huang, although admitting his deep internal conflict and that Bai Yao Yao had become an "evil influence" in his life, still felt protective of her and ordered his minion not to disturb her. Fa Hai remained in a critical coma, his primordial spirit severely damaged from the forceful removal of his fate. Green Emperor informed Xu Xuan that he had done all he could and Fa Hai's recovery now depended on fate.
Xu Xuan, still burdened by Bai Yao Yao's disappearance and Fa Hai's uncertain life, found no peace. Green Emperor urged Xu Xuan not to question Heavenly Emperor's complex motives regarding Zhan Huang, suggesting that some truths were better left unknown. Xiao Xiang confronted Xu Xuan, accusing him of wasting his deity powers on Bai Yao Yao and defending "betrayers" after previously letting them go.
Xu Xuan, in turn, revealed that Xiao Xiang had withheld a Dragon scale, a token of apology from Dragon King to Heavenly Emperor. White Emperor reprimanded Xiao Xiang, but she explained that she feared White Emperor's compassion for Dragon King would lead him to intercede, causing further complications and misunderstanding from Heavenly Emperor after the recent damage to Kunlun.
Xu Xuan argued that while Tao Tie deserved punishment, Dragon King was a loyal and loving father whose plea should be heard. He declared his intention to not only meet Dragon King but also to personally convey his wishes to Heavenly Emperor, despite Xiao Xiang's strong objections. In prison, Dragon King expressed his gratitude to Xu Xuan for seeking him out.
Acknowledging his role in the Kunlun battle, Dragon King offered his most vital "Dragon Pearl," the source of all his power, as a sacrifice to Heavenly Emperor in exchange for leniency for his son, Tao Tie. He revealed that this Dragon Pearl was the only thing that could save Xu Xuan's comatose friend, Fa Hai. Dragon King entrusted the Pearl to Xu Xuan, telling him not to feel responsible if he couldn't protect Tao Tie.
Xu Xuan solemnly accepted, vowing to fulfill Dragon King's wishes. In her dream, Heavenly Emperor appeared to Bai Yao Yao. She presented him with the blank ancient book she had brought from Kunlun, seeking its meaning. Heavenly Emperor simply instructed her to use water, then vanished. Waking, Bai Yao Yao immediately immersed the book in water, and within moments, ancient runes and texts slowly began to emerge on its blank pages.
