Zhan Huang, having mastered the Command of Nature, declared that all demons must obey him. He chose to test this power on Bai Yaoyao, who was suddenly overcome by an intense, unexplainable pain that even her magic couldn't ease. As she suffered, Bai Yaoyao managed to send a message to Xu Xuan, urging him to stop Xiao Qing from doing anything reckless, fearing she couldn't make it there herself.
Seeing Bai Yaoyao in distress, Zhan Huang felt an unexpected pang of familiarity, which made him hesitant to kill her and suspicious about her true identity. He remarked that Xiao Qing was the one who nourished his spirit, yet he felt such a deep connection to Bai Yaoyao, questioning what she had done to make him unable to harm her.
With his setup complete, Zhan Huang decided he had a "date with an old friend" and departed, vowing to return to uncover the mysteries surrounding Bai Yaoyao. After receiving news from Xiao Hui, Bai Yaoyao quickly deduced Xiao Qing's intentions and rushed to the Peach Blossom Forest to intercept her. Meanwhile, Xiao Qing gathered the clay figures of the little demons. She reminisced about their time together, feeling immense guilt for not being powerful enough to protect them from dying.
She pledged to avenge them, lamenting the hardships demons face in gaining human form, constantly hounded by cultivators or bullied by stronger demons. She assured the clay figures that she would take them to the Garden of Heavenly Peaches in Empyrean Heaven, believing that the pervasive deity aura there could resurrect them.
Despite the little demons' ethereal voices warning of the dangers of trespassing and the severe repercussions for Lady Bai, Mister Xu, and Qi Xiao, Xiao Qing remained resolute, stating she would bear all the consequences alone. Upon waking, Bai Yaoyao mistakenly believed Xu Xuan had come to her aid and eased her pain, only to realize he had left again. Around the same time, Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao sought out the Green Emperor at Mount Jiuxi.
The Green Emperor, engaged in a game of chess, initially appeared reluctant to discuss the "matter" at hand. However, the conversation soon turned to Xu Xuan, with Green Emperor remarking on how the mortal world had changed Zi Xuan's (Xu Xuan's previous incarnation) personality and how Xu Xuan's dedication to the Apothecary House reflected his master's teachings.
Sensing the gravity of the situation with the Kunlun Mirror, the Green Emperor decided to remain at Mount Jiuxi for a few more days, anticipating the White Emperor's inquiries and offering to defend against them. Soon after, Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao were announced. Xiao Qing, accompanied by the clay figures, successfully entered the Garden of Heavenly Peaches using the Kunlun Mirror. As she placed the figures, hoping for their resurrection, they were discovered by Tian Gang Guards.
The guards immediately confronted Xiao Qing, accusing her of outrageous trespassing and using the sacred Kunlun Mirror without permission, even attacking the guards. News of Xiao Qing trespassing the Garden of Heavenly Peaches quickly spread across Empyrean Heaven, incurring the Queen Mother's wrath. Bai Yaoyao's master, Lishan Sage, warned her to stay out of the matter, threatening to sever their master-disciple ties if she intervened.
However, Bai Yaoyao, who considered Xiao Qing family, could not stand by and watch her die. To avoid implicating Lishan, she chose to sever her relationship with her master, declaring her resolve to save Xiao Qing. The deities discussed Xiao Qing's increasing recklessness, noting that she seemed to be following Bai Yaoyao's "old path" and showing no sign of learning from past lessons.
Expressing concern for the sacred Kunlun Mirror, the Green Emperor dispatched Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao to the Garden of Heavenly Peaches to resolve the situation. Qi Xiao arrived at the Garden of Heavenly Peaches, attempting to stop Xiao Qing from her willful actions and reminding her that the Kunlun Mirror was entrusted to her for safekeeping. In the ensuing struggle with the Tian Gang Guards, Xiao Qing was injured, and her blood tainted the Kunlun Mirror.
This act caused the Kunlun barrier to loosen, prompting the White Emperor, who sensed the abnormality, to personally intervene. The Tian Gang Guards intended to take Xiao Qing to the Heavenly Emperor and Queen Mother. Qi Xiao tried to defend Xiao Qing, arguing that the guards' actions also contributed to the mirror being tainted. Just then, Bai Yaoyao arrived, fiercely declaring that no one could hurt Xiao Qing, who was her family.
Xu Xuan attempted to intervene, telling Bai Yaoyao to stay out of it, but Bai Yaoyao, recalling how he had killed little demons previously, rejected his help, stating she could not trust him. She vowed to share Xiao Qing's consequences. The White Emperor, incensed by the Kunlun Mirror being tainted by demon blood and the desecration of the sacred Mount Kunlun, ordered the Tian Gang Guards to take Xiao Qing and Qi Xiao back to Kunlun for trial.
Xu Xuan later sought an audience with the Queen Mother, pleading for mercy for Xiao Qing. The Queen Mother stated she could forgive Xiao Qing for merely trespassing on the garden, as she did not concern herself with such formalities. However, she emphasized that the Kunlun Mirror, now tainted by demon blood, impacted the safety of the entire Empyrean Heaven, a matter beyond her jurisdiction, leaving the final decision to the White Emperor as the head of Kunlun.
Back in Kunlun, the White Emperor confronted Xiao Qing, revealing that the only way to purify the mirror was for her to sacrifice her primordial spirit. He explained the severe consequences: losing thousands of years of cultivation, reverting to her original form, and potentially sustaining damage to her roots that would prevent her from ever regaining human form. Xiao Qing declared she would rather die than lose her cultivation.
Bai Yaoyao and Qi Xiao pleaded for her, with Qi Xiao admitting his responsibility in lending her the mirror and offering to share her punishment. However, the White Emperor angrily rebuked Qi Xiao for his unfilial behavior and dismissed other solutions, stating the punishment was already a mercy.
To Bai Yaoyao's renewed disappointment, Xu Xuan then stepped forward, offering to be the executioner, asserting that as the one who borrowed the mirror, he should be the one to carry out justice. Meanwhile, Tao Tie and his subordinate discussed the chaos in Empyrean Heaven, seeing the tainted Kunlun Mirror as a prime opportunity to exploit the instability and manipulate the mortal world. Tao Tie expressed his ambition to challenge the deities and unite demons under his command.
During this time, Xiao Xiang sensed Zhan Huang's presence and tracked him down. Recalling how Zhan Huang had abandoned her at their wedding, causing her immense hatred and driving her to protect the heavens, Xiao Xiang confronted him, seeking revenge. Zhan Huang, however, easily overpowered her. He took her heart blood, acknowledging that he had wronged her in the past, and spared her life, allowing her to seek revenge again in the future if she could.
Zhan Huang then declared to his subordinate, Ni Yun, that with the Kunlun Mirror tainted, it was a golden opportunity for them to act. Before Xu Xuan left, Bai Yaoyao confronted him once more, expressing her profound disappointment. She recounted how he had seemingly helped her in the Peach Blossom Grove in the past, healing her pain, but now, as a deity who prioritized Empyrean Heaven and killed demons, he had nothing to do with her.
She found it difficult to trust him after witnessing his actions. She emphasized the difficulty of Xiao Qing's journey to attain human form and condemned the idea of destroying her primordial spirit. Despite her accusations, Xu Xuan implored her to trust him one last time. Bai Yaoyao, however, remarked that she was no longer the old Bai Yaoyao.
Xu Xuan then returned to the Queen Mother, asking for a Heavenly Peach, not just for the fruit itself, but hoping she would intervene to save Xiao Qing's cultivation. The Queen Mother granted him one peach, noting its rarity and power, but steadfastly refused to meddle in any matters beyond her peach garden, valuing her carefree existence. Xu Xuan then gave the Heavenly Peach to Qi Xiao, instructing him to deliver it to Xiao Qing.
Qi Xiao went to Xiao Qing, offering her the peach and reminding her of his promise to help her realize her dreams. Xiao Qing, facing her impending punishment, wondered if this was her last meal.
