Xiao Qing returned to Xu Xuan's residence to find the Soul Collecting Light had gone out, leaving Xu Xuan frozen solid and lifeless. Desperate to save him for Bai Yaoyao's sake, Xiao Qing used the spiritual method taught by the Demon King. The Soul Collecting Light reignited, and Xu Xuan began to breathe again. Just then, Qi Xiao arrived with the Deity Herb, which he promptly used to save Xu Xuan.

Soon after, the Green Emperor came to retrieve the Soul Collecting Light. Qi Xiao acknowledged its importance but requested to borrow it for a few more days until Xu Xuan fully recovered. He claimed the light was no longer with him and would only reappear when Xu Xuan was completely well. Suspecting Qi Xiao was deliberately hiding it, the Green Emperor used his immense power to search the three realms.

Unbeknownst to him, Xiao Qing had used her demon aura to completely mask the Soul Collecting Light's presence. Unable to locate it, the Green Emperor realized Qi Xiao was well-prepared and, frustrated, departed. Qi Xiao recalled that during his struggle with the celestial crane, he had received vital instructions: after rescuing Xu Xuan, he must hide the Soul Collecting Light's aura with demon aura and then give it to Xu Xuan, as only Xu Xuan could save Bai Yaoyao.

Though puzzled by this, Qi Xiao followed the instructions. When Xu Xuan awoke, he had lost his memories, not only of Bai Yaoyao but also of recent events. Discovering he was no longer the Lord of the Apothecary House, he suspected that during his illness, others had forced him to leave via the Bridge of Fog. He immediately went to the Apothecary House to demand answers.

Qing Feng tried to deflect, explaining that Xu Xuan had entrusted Leng Ning with the Apothecary House during his illness. Xu Xuan, however, found this explanation illogical, questioning how a sick and weak person could undergo such a trial. He suspected Qing Feng was hiding something when she almost revealed Bai Yaoyao's name. Leng Ning then told Xu Xuan that unfavorable rumors about the Apothecary House had circulated during his severe illness, forcing him to leave.

Seeing Xu Xuan's complete amnesia about Bai Yaoyao, Leng Ning hoped to rekindle their past relationship. However, Xiao Qing burst into the Apothecary House, loudly exposing Leng Ning's lies. Xu Xuan, still suffering from memory loss, didn't recognize Xiao Qing, but he did vaguely remember her as the first person he saw upon waking up. Xiao Qing accused Leng Ning of trying to take advantage of Xu Xuan's memory loss of "Xiao Bai."

Remembering her promise to Bai Yaoyao to never mention her if anything happened, Xiao Qing adopted a flirtatious persona. She embraced Xu Xuan, declaring they had a mansion in the city, and then, without further explanation, used her magic to transport him away from the Apothecary House. At the mansion, Xiao Qing lied, claiming she was a green snake Xu Xuan had once saved, and she had cultivated to human form to repay his kindness, making this mansion their home.

Xu Xuan, however, quickly discerned her lack of genuine affection, and when he pressed her, Xiao Qing inadvertently uttered the name "Xiao Bai." Confused, Xu Xuan began searching the residence. Upon seeing a wedding room, he realized he was indeed married, but the identity of his spouse remained a complete blank. The Green Emperor, realizing Xiao Qing had used her demon aura to conceal the Soul Collecting Light, began observing her with his ice mirror.

He then cast a powerful barrier, trapping Xiao Qing within a magical boundary. Recognizing the Green Emperor's superior power, Xiao Qing, assuming he was watching, tried to provoke him by deliberately disrobing to bathe in a pond. Disgusted, the Green Emperor instantly froze her in place. Realizing she was no match for him, Xiao Qing conceded, transforming back into her original snake form to beg for mercy. Just then, Xu Xuan entered the courtyard.

Seeing Xiao Qing's true form triggered a terrifying memory of a white snake biting him. Overwhelmed with fear, Xu Xuan immediately fled. Trapped in an icy prison after her capture, Bai Yaoyao found solace in the thought that her husband must now be safe. Enduring the relentless heavenly thunder punishments that pierced the heart, she drew strength from her sweet memories with Zi Xuan. In the mortal realm, a clear sky was unexpectedly disturbed by rolling thunder.

Qi Xiao, sensing an anomaly, consulted his master, Yong An Master. The master explained that such thunder on a clear day indicated a violation of heavenly rules and the execution of a thunder punishment in the Empyrean Heaven, which causes immense pain worse than death. Qi Xiao suspected this punishment was linked to Bai Yaoyao's theft of the Deity Herb. He then inquired if there was a way to endure the thunder punishment for another.

Yong An Master revealed a place called Lake of True Self by Su Causeway, which is said to be adjacent to the Celestial Pool in the Empyrean Heaven, allowing the fated to glimpse heavenly secrets. In the peach blossom forest, Xu Xuan discovered a ceramic figure and peach trees, which he recognized as things he had made and planted for "her." Memories stirred, causing him intense heartache, but he still couldn't recall who "she" was.

The Green Emperor observed Xu Xuan's anguish, realizing Xu Xuan would eventually remember Bai Yaoyao. He decided to retrieve the Soul Collecting Light immediately. Xiao Qing, who had ignited her inner heart-fire to conceal the Soul Collecting Light, suddenly felt it extinguished by the Green Emperor's magic. Knowing he would immediately head to the demon cave, she quickly took Xu Xuan back there. The Green Emperor followed swiftly.

Inside the cave, Xiao Qing entrusted the Soul Collecting Light to Xu Xuan, urging him to flee, while she stayed behind to confront the Green Emperor. However, her limited power was no match for the Green Emperor, and she was quickly defeated. The Green Emperor caught up to the fleeing Xu Xuan. As Xu Xuan looked at the Soul Collecting Light, it felt incredibly familiar.

The sky suddenly darkened, with only the lamp's flame illuminating Xu Xuan, who also began to glow. Memories of Zi Xuan flooded Xu Xuan's mind. The Green Emperor declared these memories didn't belong to Xu Xuan and demanded the Soul Collecting Light, warning of greater disaster if he refused. Xu Xuan hesitated, but then remembered Zi Xuan's instruction from his dream to extinguish the lamp before it broke to retrieve what he had lost.

He extinguished the Soul Collecting Light's flame. In that instant, all his past memories, both as Xu Xuan with Bai Yaoyao and as Zi Xuan with the little white snake, completely returned. He realized that Zi Xuan and he were one and the same, and uttered Bai Yaoyao's name.
