As Xu Xuan, after using golden needles to immobilize the little demons blocking the door, entered the bridal chamber, he called out for his wife, but found only a spiritual serpent on the bed. He questioned Xiao Qing, asking where his wife was and if the serpent was indeed her. Confused, he remembered past encounters with Bai Yaoyao, her identity as a cultivator from Mount Li, and the traces of a demon's pulse, as well as the realgar incident.
He realized Bai Yaoyao had been by his side all along. The serpent bit him, and Xiao Qing frantically tried to calm it, calling it "Xiao Bai" and reminding her that the man she bit was her husband. Meanwhile, Qi Xiao, having just escaped a spider array, encountered a drunken Leng Ning on her way back to the Apothecary House.
She mocked him, saying he was "too late" and had missed the real show, as the "wedding night is when the truth comes to light." Qi Xiao rushed to the bridal chamber, where he found the white snake. He attempted to subdue the "evildoer," intending to disperse its form to return Bai Yaoyao to human shape. Xiao Qing, however, pleaded with Qi Xiao, explaining that poisonous silk on Bai Yaoyao's wedding dress had "disturbed her mind."
She offered herself up instead, reminding Qi Xiao that Bai Yaoyao had once saved his life. Xiao Qing herself also felt the effects of the spider poison she had contracted. Qi Xiao then used his magical prowess to suppress Bai Yaoyao's demon quality, returning her to human form. Bai Yaoyao, now conscious, cradled the unconscious Xu Xuan, calling out to him repeatedly.
Qi Xiao assured Xiao Qing that Bai Yaoyao was fine and that he had removed the poison from Xiao Qing's body. To manage the commotion, Qi Xiao lied to Xu Xuan's sister, Xu Jiaorong, and her husband, and the other guests that the noise was merely revelers in the bridal chamber before sending everyone home.
Xiao Qing, concerned for Xu Xuan, learned from Qi Xiao that the poison had reached Xu Xuan's heart, leaving him on "his last legs, at the gate of death." Distraught, Xiao Qing insisted Xu Xuan could not die, as Bai Yaoyao could not live without him after waiting for him for so long. She offered to use her spiritual marble, but Qi Xiao explained that even his own infused energy had been of little use.
Instead, he instructed Xiao Qing to gather all her little demons to use their inner heats to protect the mansion, which might keep Xu Xuan alive for a few more days. Qi Xiao then announced his intention to retrieve the "Soul Collecting Light," a magical artifact, from Mount Jiuxi, as the Fairy Crane had once suggested.
Xiao Qing implored him to return safely, and Qi Xiao promised to save Xu Xuan, instructing her to take good care of Xu Xuan and Bai Yaoyao. Xiao Qing immediately gathered the little demons to form a protective circle around Xu Xuan's room. A few days later, Xu Xuan awoke. He told Bai Yaoyao not to worry, promising to seek justice for anyone who had hurt her, even if it were himself.
He lightheartedly dismissed her bite, saying it was "not painful or itchy" and she shouldn't be bothered by "trivial matters." Bai Yaoyao then confessed, "I'm sorry. I lied to you. I'm a demon." Xu Xuan simply smiled and told her she was "the prettiest demon" and "wonderful in every aspect." He warned her only to bite him in the future. He then expressed concern over her subdued demeanor, preferring her usual outspokenness.
Xu Xuan then felt the collective "inner heats" and realized Xiao Qing and the little demons were lighting them to keep his breath steady. Moved by their loyalty, he vowed to treat them well and never bully them again. Feeling tired, Xu Xuan soon drifted back to sleep. Qi Xiao arrived at Mount Jiuxi, where guards initially tried to stop him, declaring mortals were forbidden.
He asserted his determination to save a life, stating he would not leave empty-handed, even threatening to fight if they did not move. A celestial child intervened, revealing that the Green Emperor had foreseen his arrival and guided him to the inner sanctum. The child addressed Qi Xiao as "Ling Chu," a name Qi Xiao did not recognize, but the child stated it was a Heaven's secret that only the Green Emperor could explain.
The Green Emperor greeted Qi Xiao, acknowledging he had been expecting him. Qi Xiao recounted the Fairy Crane's prophecy regarding Mount Jiuxi as a last resort to save Xu Xuan. The Green Emperor mused on the Fairy Crane's foresight and the involvement of deities in Xu Xuan and Bai Yaoyao's fate, even referring to Xu Xuan's past incarnation, Zi Xuan. Qi Xiao inquired about curing Xu Xuan's poison.
The Green Emperor declared that "whoever tied the knot on the bell is the one to untie it," meaning only Bai Yaoyao could resolve it. He explained that Bai Yaoyao needed to regain her magical prowess and obtain the "Ganoderma Deity Herb" from Penglai Heavenly Mountain to save Xu Xuan's life. However, this act would cause Xu Xuan to completely forget her and their shared past.
The Green Emperor then gave Qi Xiao the Soul Collecting Light, stating it could sustain Xu Xuan for only seven days, after which no medicine would suffice. Qi Xiao returned and relayed the Green Emperor's words to Bai Yaoyao. Bai Yaoyao sighed, acknowledging that the peach wood sword, given by her master, would finally "come in handy." She remarked that Xu Xuan had forgotten her once before (as Zi Xuan), and this would merely be him forgetting her again.
Accepting this "Heaven's will," she asked for one more day to fulfill an unfulfilled wish: to confront Leng Ning, before her journey to Penglai. Bai Yaoyao then went to the Apothecary House to confront Leng Ning, who was practicing with virulent spiders, experiencing a backlash from her own poison. Leng Ning, believing she was close to enhancing her prowess, declared she would deal with Bai Yaoyao if Xu Xuan refused.
Bai Yaoyao revealed Xiao Qing had tampered with the spiders, causing the poison to rebound on Leng Ning. Leng Ning, still scornful, questioned Xu Xuan's whereabouts, convinced he was terrified by Bai Yaoyao's true form and would never forgive her. Bai Yaoyao countered, stating that Xu Xuan had held her tightly that night, and there were "no secrets between us now." Xiao Qing, also present, told Leng Ning that she was an "outsider" to Bai Yaoyao and Xu Xuan's relationship.
Enraged, Leng Ning swore that as long as she lived, she would never let Bai Yaoyao live in peace, even daring her to kill her. Xiao Qing moved to strike Leng Ning, but Bai Yaoyao stopped her, deeming it "not worth it to bear a bloodguilt for a person like her." Later, Xiao Qing pondered the differences between demons and humans with Qi Xiao, playfully teasing him about his past as a demon hunter.
A few days later, Xu Xuan, still weakened, noticed the peach wood sword was missing and deduced Bai Yaoyao had taken it. He reminded her they no longer needed it. Bai Yaoyao led Xu Xuan to a peach blossom forest, pointing out the beautiful blooms. While Xu Xuan was lost in thought, Bai Yaoyao, with a heavy heart, drew the peach wood sword and stabbed him. Xu Xuan cried out in pain, accusing her, "You shouldn't have done this.
I won't forgive you, and I won't forget you." Bai Yaoyao tearfully apologized, explaining she had "no choice." As Xu Xuan lost consciousness and his wound miraculously healed, Bai Yaoyao held him, lamenting, "This time, I found you first, and I fell in love with you first. Next time, you must find me first, and you must fall in love with me first. A thousand years is too long, I can't wait for so long. I'm too lonely."
Bai Yaoyao then prepared for her journey to Penglai Heavenly Mountain. She informed Xiao Qing that she had erected a magical barrier and instructed her to stay with Qi Xiao to guard the Soul Collecting Light while she went for the Deity Herb. Xiao Qing offered to accompany her, but Bai Yaoyao refused, making Xiao Qing promise to keep her existence a secret from Xu Xuan if she did not return.
Though Xiao Qing initially protested the unfairness, she ultimately agreed. Xiao Qing gave Bai Yaoyao a messenger, vowing to risk her life to save her if needed. Bai Yaoyao reassured her that she had regained her magical prowess and breaking into Penglai would not be difficult. She urged Xiao Qing to take good care of Xu Xuan and await her return. Xiao Qing promised to keep any other woman away from Xu Xuan in her absence.
Upon reaching Penglai, the Fairy Crane intercepted Bai Yaoyao. The Fairy Crane, who was the guard of the immortal mountain, revealed that the Green Emperor had orchestrated this journey to deliberately separate her and Xu Xuan. The Fairy Crane explained that once the peach wood sword was used, their fate would be severed, making them strangers. Bai Yaoyao, undeterred, stated she would have come anyway, but this time she would not "drag anyone down."
To prevent the Fairy Crane from interfering or being implicated, Bai Yaoyao used a Deity Bundling Lock to restrain her. Bai Yaoyao declared her intention to break into Penglai Heavenly Mountain alone and retrieve the Deity Herb, accepting that she would have "no regrets even if I die" for Xu Xuan.
