Unfazed, Qi Xiao declared he had no regrets for his actions. He then pressed Xiao Qing about Bai Yaoyao's connection to the white snake he had seen on the beam.

Xiao Qing initially feigned ignorance but then explained that since Bai Yaoyao had lost all her powers, she had entrusted the sacred peach wood sword to the trustworthy white snake for safekeeping. Qi Xiao, however, remained skeptical, questioning why Bai Yaoyao would trust such a vital item, granted by the Sacred Lady of Mount Li, to a mere snake.

He demanded that Xiao Qing inform Bai Yaoyao to bring the white snake to Mount Jin Temple to explain the entire incident. Xiao Qing replied she could not promise this and would have to discuss it with Bai Yaoyao at home, secretly fearing that Qi Xiao had seen through her words and determined not to let him meet Bai Yaoyao. Meanwhile, news of Physician Xu Xuan's impending marriage spread.

Qing Feng, remembering Xu Xuan’s past affiliation with the Apothecary House, felt inclined to offer help for the wedding preparations but worried about offending Leng Ning. Qi Xiao warned her of the dire consequences, but Bai Yaoyao remained resolute. Qi Xiao grappled with his duty as a demon hunter, unable to reconcile it with his growing reluctance to harm Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing. Xiao Qing, observing his distress, confronted him. She challenged Qi Xiao, asking what he would do if he, a demon hunter, ever fell in love with a demon. Qi Xiao, visibly disturbed, vehemently denied such a possibility. Alone later, he pondered his past, recalling the numerous demon spiritual marbles he had collected. He questioned his inability to take down Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing, despite his clear duty to eradicate demons who bring chaos.

His heart ached as he wondered how he could fulfill his destiny if the demon he was meant to destroy was someone he considered a friend. He then sought guidance from his uncle, Master Yong'an. However, unwilling to kill Bai Yaoyao and still seeking a comprehensive solution, Qi Xiao was given a bottle of sand by Master Yong'an, left by Master Yuanyi, and instructed to calmly create a Buddha sand painting, assuring him that the answer would be found within the artwork. This secretive act was a facade, as Leng Ning intended to imbue the dress with power from highly poisonous Western Sacred Spiders, which she was cultivating in vast quantities under the pretense of developing an antidote. Later, Xu Xuan was summoned for an urgent medical case and had been gone for over an hour. Bai Yaoyao grew anxious, knowing Xu Xuan would typically send word if he were delayed.

When he told her to step back to avoid disturbing his sand, she defiantly blew away the delicate image. Meanwhile, Xu Xuan was led to the Purple Bamboo Grove by the person who had summoned him. Upon arrival, the person suddenly collapsed, bleeding from seven orifices, and died. Xu Xuan examined the body, discerning that the individual had been dead for several days, indicating a trap.

Bai Yaoyao, approaching the Purple Bamboo Grove, sensed a profound shift in its aura compared to her previous visit. Her spiritual marble resonated with a powerful demonic presence. Realizing the danger, and with Xu Xuan possibly inside, she declared her intention to enter. Xiao Qing reminded Bai Yaoyao of her lack of powers and offered to go alone, but Bai Yaoyao refused, stating that both Xu Xuan and Xiao Qing were equally important to her. Together, they cautiously ventured into the perilous grove.
