Xiao Qing vehemently cursed Qi Xiao, accusing him of being a despicable villain for ruining relationships, invoking the saying that it is better to tear down ten temples than to wreck a marriage. Unfazed, Qi Xiao declared he had no regrets for his actions. He then pressed Xiao Qing about Bai Yaoyao's connection to the white snake he had seen on the beam.
Xiao Qing initially feigned ignorance but then explained that since Bai Yaoyao had lost all her powers, she had entrusted the sacred peach wood sword to the trustworthy white snake for safekeeping. Qi Xiao, however, remained skeptical, questioning why Bai Yaoyao would trust such a vital item, granted by the Sacred Lady of Mount Li, to a mere snake.
He demanded that Xiao Qing inform Bai Yaoyao to bring the white snake to Mount Jin Temple to explain the entire incident. Xiao Qing replied she could not promise this and would have to discuss it with Bai Yaoyao at home, secretly fearing that Qi Xiao had seen through her words and determined not to let him meet Bai Yaoyao. Meanwhile, news of Physician Xu Xuan's impending marriage spread.
Qing Feng, remembering Xu Xuan’s past affiliation with the Apothecary House, felt inclined to offer help for the wedding preparations but worried about offending Leng Ning. He went to Leng Ning, whose calming bell unexpectedly rang without wind, suggesting the presence of a demon. Leng Ning playfully dismissed it as a prank to scare him. Qing Feng cautiously relayed the news of Xu Xuan’s marriage.
Leng Ning, feigning indifference, stated she was already aware through Sister Xu and insisted she had moved on, with the Apothecary House now being her sole focus. She decided to personally deliver a congratulatory gift to resolve any lingering misunderstandings, and Qing Feng offered to accompany her. Yet, deep down, Leng Ning’s love for Xu Xuan intensified, as did her dormant demonic nature.
A subtle influence suggested that her calming bell, while suppressing her demonic side, could also accelerate her cultivation if she fully embraced her demonic transformation, enabling her to gain power comparable to centuries of demon practice in just a few years. Leng Ning mused to herself that if she could do anything she desired as a demon, her only desire was Brother Xu. At Mount Jin Temple, Master Yong'an, Qi Xiao’s uncle, returned with sacred Buddhist relics.
Xu Jiaorong insisted that Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing accompany her to worship these relics. Xiao Qing grew anxious, knowing that the powerful aura of such relics could force demons to reveal their true forms. As the procession approached, Bai Yaoyao realized they had no escape. Just in time, Qi Xiao intervened, telling Xu Jiaorong that the temple needed Bai Yaoyao’s help with the sacred ceremony.
Xu Jiaorong, pleased by the offer, allowed Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing to leave with him. Xiao Qing thanked Qi Xiao for saving them from exposure, but Qi Xiao chastised them for their recklessness in coming to such a sacred place. He revealed he had already swapped the true relic, ensuring the demons in the hill would not be harmed by its power. Xiao Qing, defiant, asserted that demons had their dignity and would never worship their oppressors.
Qi Xiao then produced the real sacred relic before Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing. Under its power, Bai Yaoyao's true form was momentarily revealed, confirming Qi Xiao’s suspicions. Bai Yaoyao confessed to being the white snake from the beam. Qi Xiao demanded to know why she was so intent on defying celestial laws to alter Xu Xuan’s destiny.
Bai Yaoyao admitted she foresaw her own future—trapped in eternal darkness, without peace—but she could not let Xu Xuan suffer a solitary, tragic life. She was determined to change his fate, even if it meant her own annihilation. She pleaded with Qi Xiao to keep her demonic identity and intentions a secret from Xu Xuan, emphasizing that her love for Xu Xuan was strong enough for her to sacrifice everything.
Qi Xiao warned her of the dire consequences, but Bai Yaoyao remained resolute. Qi Xiao grappled with his duty as a demon hunter, unable to reconcile it with his growing reluctance to harm Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing. Xiao Qing, observing his distress, confronted him. She passionately argued for the possibility of genuine human-demon love, believing Bai Yaoyao’s choice was justified.
She challenged Qi Xiao, asking what he would do if he, a demon hunter, ever fell in love with a demon. Qi Xiao, visibly disturbed, vehemently denied such a possibility. Alone later, he pondered his past, recalling the numerous demon spiritual marbles he had collected. He questioned his inability to take down Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing, despite his clear duty to eradicate demons who bring chaos.
His heart ached as he wondered how he could fulfill his destiny if the demon he was meant to destroy was someone he considered a friend. He then sought guidance from his uncle, Master Yong'an. When Qi Xiao asked how to stop human-demon love, Master Yong'an advised him to directly eliminate the demon to prevent harm to both lives in the long run.
However, unwilling to kill Bai Yaoyao and still seeking a comprehensive solution, Qi Xiao was given a bottle of sand by Master Yong'an, left by Master Yuanyi, and instructed to calmly create a Buddha sand painting, assuring him that the answer would be found within the artwork. Meanwhile, Xiao Qing, worried about Bai Yaoyao’s crisis, delved into books on love stories. Her research led her to conclude that all men were inherently untrustworthy.
Fearing Xu Xuan might betray Bai Yaoyao, leaving her more pitiable than legendary tragic figures, Xiao Qing decided to test Xu Xuan’s sincerity. She learned that Xu Xuan had ordered the finest Ling Yun silk for Bai Yaoyao’s wedding dress. Disguising herself as "Miss Su," a courtesan from Wan Hua Brothel, Xiao Qing purchased all the precious silk. Xu Xuan, however, quickly saw through her ruse and appeared at the brothel, demanding the silk back, proving her test futile.
Separately, Xu Jiaorong had initially offered to make Bai Yaoyao’s wedding dress, but Leng Ning, seeing an opportunity, insisted on taking over the task, claiming it as her blessing for her senior brother and requesting it be kept a secret to surprise them on the wedding day.
This secretive act was a facade, as Leng Ning intended to imbue the dress with power from highly poisonous Western Sacred Spiders, which she was cultivating in vast quantities under the pretense of developing an antidote. Later, Xu Xuan was summoned for an urgent medical case and had been gone for over an hour. Bai Yaoyao grew anxious, knowing Xu Xuan would typically send word if he were delayed.
Fearing he was in trouble, she dispatched Xiao Qing to check Mount Jin Temple, a likely destination if it was a southern emergency. Xiao Qing arrived at Mount Jin Temple to find Qi Xiao intently working on a sand painting, given to him by Master Yong'an to help him find a solution to his dilemma regarding human-demon love. Xiao Qing, convinced Qi Xiao was trying to interfere with the wedding, angrily confronted him.
When he told her to step back to avoid disturbing his sand, she defiantly blew away the delicate image. Meanwhile, Xu Xuan was led to the Purple Bamboo Grove by the person who had summoned him. Upon arrival, the person suddenly collapsed, bleeding from seven orifices, and died. Xu Xuan examined the body, discerning that the individual had been dead for several days, indicating a trap.
Bai Yaoyao, approaching the Purple Bamboo Grove, sensed a profound shift in its aura compared to her previous visit. Her spiritual marble resonated with a powerful demonic presence. Realizing the danger, and with Xu Xuan possibly inside, she declared her intention to enter. Xiao Qing reminded Bai Yaoyao of her lack of powers and offered to go alone, but Bai Yaoyao refused, stating that both Xu Xuan and Xiao Qing were equally important to her. Together, they cautiously ventured into the perilous grove.
