Leng Ning sat alone, her brow bearing a growing red mark, a sign of her demonic nature that she no longer cared to suppress. Everything she had valued had crumbled the day before when Xu Xuan had revealed his true intentions. He had confessed that the altered wedding gown was for his sister, Xu Jiaorong, as his real plan was to arrange a makeup wedding for her and Li Gongfu.
His visit to Prince Zhao Yu’s mansion with Bai Yaoyao, forcing the prince to sign a document nullifying their engagement, was all to avoid marrying Leng Ning. Xu Xuan asserted that no one could compel him to do something he did not wish to. Hearing the truth, Leng Ning was overcome with anger and pain, weeping from the weight of her sorrow and resentment.
However, her desire for revenge soon took over, and she vowed never to let Bai Yaoyao off easily, even if it meant fully embracing her demonic transformation. Meanwhile, Bai Yaoyao waited in the rain on the Broken Bridge, where Xu Xuan had once promised to wipe away her tears and shield her with an umbrella when she was sad. Unaware of Xu Xuan’s elaborate scheme, she waited with uncertainty, wondering if her beloved would truly come.
At Xu Jiaorong and Li Gongfu’s wedding, disciples from the Duan Yang School harbored subtle resentment, and their attitude towards Xu Xuan had grown complicated. Xu Jiaorong keenly observed that her brother's position as lord was precarious. Li Gongfu, remembering his impoverished past, expressed profound love and appreciation for his wife. They had endured years of hardship and were finally enjoying a stable and happy life together.
As Bai Yaoyao wept in the rain, her silhouette appeared ethereal amidst the mist. Soon after, Xu Xuan ascended the steps, slowly but steadily, holding an umbrella, until he stood behind her. Just as he had promised, he held the umbrella over Bai Yaoyao. Sensing the change in the falling rain, she turned, surprised and overjoyed to see Xu Xuan, who should have been at his own wedding but was instead there on the Broken Bridge with her.
Their unspoken understanding and profound feelings intertwined in that moment. Xu Xuan no longer doubted that he was the person Bai Yaoyao had been waiting for. Bai Yaoyao, in turn, realized that there was no distinction between Xu Xuan and Zi Xuan; they were both the man she loved. Xu Xuan kissed her forehead and took her hand, a stark contrast to his previous stance on physical contact between men and women.
He playfully dismissed his former strictness as "a different time," to which Bai Yaoyao, between laughter and tears, remarked that Xu Xuan always found a way to justify himself. After affirming her love with Xu Xuan, Bai Yaoyao sought forgiveness from Lishan Mother. She willingly offered to give up her thousand years of cultivation and become a mortal, hoping both to save Leng Ning and to live an ordinary life as Xu Xuan’s wife.
Lishan Mother removed Bai Yaoyao's powers, leaving her like a mortal except for the spiritual marble that still allowed her to transform into a snake. Lishan Mother then gave Bai Yaoyao a sword, explaining that if she ever regretted her decision, she could stab Xu Xuan’s chest with it. The sword would not kill him but would sever their emotional bond, causing him to forget everything between them and allowing Bai Yaoyao to regain her magical abilities.
Bai Yaoyao initially refused, vowing never to harm him, but Lishan Mother insisted. Bai Yaoyao questioned if this meant she and Zi Xuan were destined never to be together in this lifetime, but Lishan Mother would not reveal God's plan and urged her to leave. As Bai Yaoyao departed, Lishan Mother sighed softly. With Bai Yaoyao’s powers gone, Leng Ning’s bloodthirsty urges also vanished. She mistakenly believed the Calming Bell had completely suppressed her urges and felt relieved.
Learning that Xu Xuan had not married Leng Ning, Prince Zhao Yu expressed his sympathy for Leng Ning, feeling that she had been wronged. Li Gongfu skillfully diverted the prince's attention by mentioning the upcoming Girl's Day. The prince, now eager to find a suitable wife among the unmarried women who would pray for blessings, declared his intention to organize an elaborate Girl's Day celebration. High in the mountains, Xiao Qing commanded her subordinates to light countless lanterns.
She had been mocked by Qi Xiao for not understanding human love, so she imitated Xu Xuan’s romantic gestures for Bai Yaoyao. However, she found that love was not as simple as lighting lanterns. Frustrated, she asked her subordinates for ideas. Prompted by Xiao Hui, Xiao Qing decided to observe the customs of Girl's Day and join in the festivities. But just as she vowed not to lose to Qi Xiao, the multitude of lanterns caused a massive fire.
After a night of fighting the blaze, an enraged Xiao Qing struck Xiao Hui for his role in the disaster. Bai Yaoyao returned to the mountain and urged Xiao Qing to be less reckless in the future. Xiao Qing noticed Bai Yaoyao's disheveled state but didn't dwell on her lack of powers. Following Bai Yaoyao's earlier request, Xiao Qing had found a secluded and elegant residence.
Bai Yaoyao encouraged Xiao Qing not to stay in the mountains permanently but to cultivate her character like a human. Xiao Qing argued that she was already acting like a human by making ceramic figures to pray for a good marriage. Bai Yaoyao, concerned, asked if Xiao Qing planned to cause trouble at Mount Jin Temple with her figurines. Xiao Qing was diligently making ceramic figures in the back of Mount Jin Temple when Qi Xiao appeared behind her.
He immediately understood the purpose of her creations and mocked her, calling the snake demon foolish and a perfect match for a toad demon. Annoyed, Xiao Qing pointed a figurine at him, but Qi Xiao took it from her, unimpressed. Concerned that Qi Xiao might ruin her precious creation, Xiao Qing watched nervously. However, Qi Xiao skillfully refined the figurine, making it more beautiful and lifelike.
He boasted that a person's character was reflected in their creations, to which Xiao Qing happily agreed that she was indeed beautiful. Their usual bickering resumed as Qi Xiao deliberately stated that Mount Jin Temple did not accept demon-made figurines for the festival, causing Xiao Qing to storm off in a huff. During the Peach Blossom Festival at Mount Jin Temple, Leng Ning, seeking solace, unexpectedly encountered Bai Yaoyao. When asked, Bai Yaoyao explained that Xu Xuan had invited her.
Leng Ning’s words were sharp, but Bai Yaoyao sought to reconcile. Sensing Bai Yaoyao's aura, Leng Ning suspected she had lost her magical powers. Feigning a desire for reconciliation before the Bodhisattva, Leng Ning intentionally stepped on Bai Yaoyao's skirt, causing her to fall and bleed. True to Leng Ning’s suspicion, Bai Yaoyao bled immediately, revealing her vulnerability. Leng Ning, still consumed by bitterness, defiantly swore before the Bodhisattva that she would reclaim everything that had been taken from her.
