As Wan Shan continued to press for evidence during the board meeting, a familiar figure, Tang Xin, walked in and declared, "I can prove that." Yuan Shuai, seeing Tang Xin bravely step forward to expose Wan Shan's wrongdoings, let out a sigh of relief and discreetly gave a thumbs-down gesture to a hidden camera. Du Lei, watching from behind the camera, grew furious at Yuan Shuai’s triumphant expression.
After the meeting, Wan Shan was officially dismissed, and Luo Sheng took over as the new CEO. Luo Sheng expressed the company's "resolution to maintain the order" of the industry. Later, Director Fan praised Yuan Shuai and Jiang Jun for their role in Wan Shan's removal, noting that Wan Shan must have been "assisted by someone" to act so boldly. Yuan Shuai dismissed this, asserting that good always triumphs over evil and that Wan Shan was merely a "jester."
He then playfully demanded a bonus from Director Fan. Jiang Jun then thanked Tang Xin, who explained she came to prevent those who believed in her from being disappointed, hoping to show a direction for other girls facing similar struggles. Yuan Shuai commended her for her courage. Meanwhile, Linda confronted Du Lei at a racetrack, accusing him of being too presumptuous. Du Lei calmly stated that he would bear the consequences of his choices, whether successful or not.
Linda warned that Yuan Shuai had become his obsession and insisted that only she and GE could help him. Du Lei, however, defiantly declared that how he defeated Yuan Shuai was his own business and threatened to leave GE if Linda continued to treat him like a helpless child. He then left, stating he had other matters to attend to. Yuan Shuai and Jiang Jun discussed the Wan Shan case.
Jiang Jun expressed sympathy for Tang Xin and hoped Wan Shan would face legal punishment. Yuan Shuai urged Jiang Jun to reflect on her missteps in the case, particularly her impulsive decision to confront Tang Xin alone to record evidence, calling it dangerous. Jiang Jun argued that she acted alone because Yuan Shuai initially refused to help. Yuan Shuai then confessed he kept her in the dark because he wanted to protect her and prevent her from getting involved.
Jiang Jun realized that Yuan Shuai had believed her from the beginning. Yuan Shuai playfully teased her for not being able to "think it straight," implying she was "unreliable" and would end up "picking gold coins carrying a box behind me." Jiang Jun, feeling exhausted and hungry, mentioned working tirelessly. Yuan Shuai, as her boss, offered to treat her to dinner.
When Jiang Jun suggested ordering takeout, Yuan Shuai invited her to his home, promising to "show my real skills" in cooking, much to her surprise. At the convenience store, Lily continued her efforts to ask Xiaochuan out. She first tried leaving movie tickets, then texted him from a fake "AI robot" account to invite him to a horror movie. Xiaochuan, however, easily figured out it was Lily.
Lily explained she wanted him to experience the difference between a real person and AI, which Xiaochuan likened to a "Turing Test," giving him a new idea. Despite being frustrated by his bluntness, Lily was impressed by Xiaochuan's academic mind, remarking that "a genius's way of thinking is so different from normal people." Jiang Jun arrived at Yuan Shuai's apartment with a large bag, claiming it contained all her "available ingredients," which turned out to be mostly snacks.
Yuan Shuai teased her about the meager offerings but told her to relax in the living room while he cooked. Browsing his bookshelf, Jiang Jun discovered her old magic cube. Yuan Shuai revealed he had kept it all these years, explaining he felt a lifelong responsibility for it. Noticing Jiang Jun's difficulty with the cube, he stood behind her and guided her hands through the steps to solve it, creating a moment of intimacy.
Feeling the awkwardness, Yuan Shuai quickly made an excuse about dinner being ready and urged her to wash her hands. During dinner, Jiang Jun was delighted by Yuan Shuai's cooking. They exchanged playful jabs about expensive wine glasses and each other's "history," including Yuan Shuai's past fashion choices and Jiang Jun's childhood attempt to woo a classmate with a pig's trotter.
Yuan Shuai received a text from Du Lei requesting a meeting, which he dismissed as a "scam phone call" before resuming their meal. The next day, Du Lei and Yuan Shuai met at a racetrack and engaged in an intense race. Afterwards, Yuan Shuai confronted Du Lei, accusing him of manipulating Wan Shan and using Jiang Jun to impulsively contact Tang Xin. He warned Du Lei to stay away from Jiang Jun. Du Lei revealed he had resigned.
He told Yuan Shuai that while he was willing to concede some matters, he would not concede others. He then showed Yuan Shuai a hairpin, implying it was a gift from Jiang Jun, and reiterated that Jiang Jun was a good girl to whom he had made a promise. Yuan Shuai again warned Du Lei to stay away, but Du Lei reaffirmed his resolve, declaring he would no longer simply yield to Yuan Shuai.
Later, Lily pleaded with Jiang Jun to help her ask Xiaochuan to the movies, admitting all her own attempts had failed. Jiang Jun was reluctant, citing her limited acquaintance with Xiaochuan. Lily suggested using the excuse of thanking him for fixing Jiang Jun’s phone and to bring her along as a tag-along. Jiang Jun pointed out that it was Yuan Shuai who asked for the repair. Desperate, Lily implored Jiang Jun, calling her "kind, lovely, beautiful, and exquisite."
Jiang Jun relented and went to Yuan Shuai's door. Yuan Shuai, sensing her ulterior motive, was visibly jealous upon learning she wanted to ask Xiaochuan to the movies for Lily. He connected the dots about Xiaochuan being his "expert" and a regular at Lily's convenience store. Yuan Shuai agreed to help but insisted that Jiang Jun buy four movie tickets, implying a double date with himself and Jiang Jun. Feeling pressured, Jiang Jun could only agree.
At the cinema, Xiaochuan arrived, greeting Yuan Shuai as "brother," revealing their cousin relationship. Yuan Shuai lightly scolded Xiaochuan for using the public Wi-Fi in his apartment complex instead of visiting. Lily, still hoping for alone time with Xiaochuan, had secretly purchased tickets for two different movies. As a result, Yuan Shuai and Jiang Jun watched one film, while Lily and Xiaochuan watched another.
During a horror movie, Lily feigned fear to lean on Xiaochuan, but he obtusely suggested she wait outside if she was too scared, as he wanted to finish the film. In the other cinema, during a poignant scene about parents, Jiang Jun became emotional. Yuan Shuai gently covered her eyes and comforted her, then offered to accompany her to movies in the future, promising no charges and even buying the popcorn.
Their bond deepened in this tender moment, though it was humorously interrupted by another audience member who called them "sir" and "ma'am." The following day, a property manager informed Jiang Jun that her landlord could easily recharge her water bill, revealing that her landlord was none other than Yuan Shuai, from the apartment directly opposite hers. Jiang Jun then visited her old landlord, Ms. Zhang, in the alley.
Overhearing Ms. Zhang discussing her third-floor apartment—which had been rented out but remained vacant—Jiang Jun showed her Yuan Shuai's photo, feigning interest for a friend. Ms. Zhang, visibly flustered, confirmed that the man in the picture was indeed her tenant, putting all the pieces together for Jiang Jun.
At the office, Su Chang sent a message to Yuan Shuai, confirming Du Lei's involvement with Wan Shan and sharing the news of Jiang Jun's early promotion, which came with a letter of appreciation from Luo Sheng. Qiao Na publicly announced Jiang Jun's early conversion to full-time status due to her exceptional performance, assigning her to continue tracking the Wanxing case. Shen Xin muttered criticisms about Jiang Jun's perceived undeserved promotion.
Jiang Jun, still upset with Yuan Shuai, ignored congratulatory remarks from colleagues and messaged him to meet on the rooftop. On the rooftop, Yuan Shuai, expecting gratitude, commented that she didn't need to specifically thank him for "helping a newbie." Jiang Jun, armed with her new discovery, confronted him directly, asking, "Is there a free house in the world?" Yuan Shuai realized his secret had been exposed.
