Zhou Mingming was awakened from his sleep on a basket by a phone call from Ding Dingding. Meanwhile, in the distance, two children were found searching for books amidst the ruins. Ding Dingding rushed over to warn them of the danger, offering them her last two lollipops. One child kindly offered to save hers for her mother, and Ding Dingding reminded them that new books and toys would be provided, so they should not return to the dangerous site.

Rescue efforts continued intensely, with Zhan Yan performing surgeries without rest since the previous night. Her colleague urged her to take a break. Luo Ben noticed her exhaustion and offered his shoulder for her to rest, allowing her to sleep. Cai Yuxiao, a doctor from the Second Medical Team, arrived and witnessed this scene. Upon waking, Zhan Yan realized Luo Ben's kind gesture. When Cai Yuxiao approached to discuss the First Medical Team's situation, Luo Ben discreetly excused himself.

As aftershocks continued to hit Fengxi, rescue workers were forced to evacuate the seriously injured back to Linjiang. A woman desperately sought her missing daughter. Ding Dingding saw an opportunity to return, asking if there was space on the hospital bus, while Zhou Mingming, annoyed by Ding Dingding and claiming she caused his injury, also sought a ride, even offering payment.

Luo Ben, relieved to confirm that both Zhan Yan and his sister, Luo Yuan, were on the transfer list, felt at ease, specifically requesting Zhan Yan's transfer as Luo Yuan's primary doctor who understood her condition best. Zhan Yan, despite being exhausted, expressed a desire to save as many patients as possible before leaving. Cai Yuxiao then informed Zhan Yan that television journalists wanted to interview their medical team.

Zhan Yan, disliking such public occasions, asked Cai Yuxiao to manage the situation for her. From the limited disaster relief supplies, Ding Dingding managed to get a bucket of instant noodles, which she specially reserved for Zhan Yan, who was still in surgery. Despite the difficulty of getting hot water, Ding Dingding brought the warm noodles to Zhan Yan.

Though not overtly expressive, Zhan Yan showed a genuine smile of appreciation as Ding Dingding reminisced about a childhood memory of them sharing instant noodles when Zhan Yan had secretly brought her food. Meanwhile, Xiong Fei, escorting patients, noticed a dejected Luo Yuan. He gently reassured her that the old principal had passed away peacefully, and she shouldn't feel burdened by his death.

Deeply touched by Xiong Fei's words, Luo Yuan later urged her brother, Luo Ben, to apologize to him. Luo Ben approached Xiong Fei, acknowledging his life-saving kindness in rescuing Luo Yuan. While expressing his gratitude and offering future legal assistance, Luo Ben also subtly asked Xiong Fei to keep his distance from Luo Yuan, explaining that his sister was a simple girl and he didn't want her to misunderstand their interactions.

Xiong Fei assured Luo Ben that they were strangers and would have no further contact, politely declining the offer of legal help. Back at the camp, Luo Ben discovered Cai Yuxiao and reporters attempting to interview Luo Yuan, who was clearly not in a state to face cameras. Enraged, Luo Ben confronted Cai Yuxiao and the media, ordering them to leave, asserting that his sister needed rest, not interviews.

He questioned how there could be "good news" when people were sick, wounded, and dying. Unfazed, Cai Yuxiao later appeared frequently on television, becoming a popular "hero doctor" who "turned the tide," garnering admiration from many, though the head nurse was indignant on Zhan Yan's behalf, lamenting that Zhan Yan, who had spent the longest time in the disaster area and saved the most lives, received no such recognition.

The rescue team later discovered a critically injured man in the ruins. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries, but his dying wish, conveyed through his phone, was for them to save his wife. Using the phone's information, they determined his wife was trapped in Cliff Guo, Lulong County, ten kilometers from Fengxi.

Recognizing that the direct road was under repair, Zhan Qingshan decided to lead Xiong Fei and Da Peng on a difficult mountain path, where they would rappel down to the location. Soon, the three found the man's wife at the base of Cliff Guo; she was a pregnant woman in active labor. They immediately reported the critical situation to the team's doctors.

Zhan Yan, who was preparing to return to Linjiang, heard the news and, despite being a surgeon, volunteered, having minored in obstetrics and possessing midwifery experience. Zhan Qingshan, prioritizing his daughter's safety, initially refused, citing her lack of professional outdoor skills for the complex terrain and rappelling. However, at a crucial moment, Zhan Qingshan received news that the direct road to Cliff Guo had been cleared.

Luo Ben then arrived on a mountain motorcycle and offered to drive Zhan Yan to the site. With Zhan Yan's expert assistance, the pregnant woman successfully delivered her baby, and both mother and child were safe. After the disaster relief concluded, Zhan Yan, Cai Yuxiao, and others gradually returned to Linjiang City. The head nurse observed the daily influx of flowers for Cai Yuxiao at the hospital reception, growing increasingly frustrated on Zhan Yan's behalf.

She pointed out that Zhan Yan had spent the longest time in the disaster zone and rescued the most people, yet Cai Yuxiao received all the public acclaim. While Zhan Yan herself expressed indifference to such superficial recognition, the head nurse revealed that the hospital was planning to select an "Outstanding Team," suggesting that Cai Yuxiao and his Second Medical Team were likely to be chosen if Zhan Yan didn't strive for it.

Concurrently, Ma Baoming, chairman of Midas Touch Media, whose company had recently secured financing and sold film rights, leveraged the disaster by donating mineral water and instant noodles to achieve maximum publicity. Luo Ben, being well-versed in business dealings, recognized Ma Baoming's strategic move.

He called Ma Baoming to commend his business acumen and subtly suggested compensating Ding Dingding with 100,000 yuan, primarily as a gesture of gratitude for Ding Dingding's efforts in mobilizing blood donations for Luo Yuan at the disaster site. Ding Dingding, who was busy with her drawing work, received a call from Ma Baoming. Suspicious of his sudden generosity, she immediately recorded the conversation as evidence, fearing he might be setting another trap to sue her again.

Ma Baoming explained the money was an "attorney's suggestion" and a way to "leave room for future cooperation." When Ding Dingding later shared this with Zhan Yan, she acknowledged Luo Ben's role in the mediation and believed they were now "even," especially after her efforts to secure blood donations for Luo Yuan. Zhan Yan, upon hearing Luo Ben's involvement, began to reconsider her initial skepticism towards him.

At the hospital, Luo Ben noticed that the noisy patients in the adjacent bed were disturbing Luo Yuan's rest and requested Zhan Yan to move Luo Yuan to a single room. Zhan Yan informed him that all single rooms were full. Luo Ben questioned the truthfulness of her statement, implying she was intentionally unhelpful, which angered Zhan Yan, who retorted by calling him "dark inside." Their recently mended relationship became strained once again.

Meanwhile, Zhan Yan's parents, back home, discussed their two daughters. Zhan Yan's mother expressed her pride in Zhan Yan's independence and self-reliance since childhood, noting that she never caused them worry. Ding Dingding, present during the conversation, playfully declared herself the "angel sent to stay" with them, unlike high achievers who "fly out" of the home. Zhan Qingshan, Zhan Yan's father, mentioned that he would never forgive "that person," hinting at a deep-seated past grievance.
