Light Chaser Rescue Episode 3 Recap
> Light Chaser Rescue Recap
When an earthquake struck Fengxi County, most of the teachers and students at the local school had already evacuated to safety. However, the old headmaster and Luo Yuan, a teacher from Linjiang who had recently started teaching there, became trapped within the school ruins while attempting to rescue a junior student. Upon learning that his sister, Luo Yuan, was among the trapped, Luo Ben anxiously implored Captain Qingshan to prioritize her rescue.
He explained that Luo Yuan could hear but could not speak, a crucial piece of information for the rescue team. Captain Qingshan acknowledged the importance of this detail, instructing his team to pay close attention to potential communication through walls, pipes, stones, or whistles. Dongzi, a rescue team member, was initially restrained from entering the perilous site. The team quickly narrowed their search scope and confirmed the location of the trapped individuals.
Inside the precarious debris, the headmaster, despite his own injuries and weakening state, bravely encouraged Luo Yuan and the trapped child, assuring them that rescuers would arrive. Luo Yuan continuously blew a whistle, attracting the attention of the rescue team. From outside, Luo Ben communicated with Luo Yuan, expressing his deep concern and asking about her injuries. He then urgently informed Captain Qingshan that Luo Yuan was indeed hurt, pleading for immediate action.
Captain Qingshan, understanding Luo Ben's anguish, tried to calm him, explaining that a safe and effective rescue plan was paramount, and assured him that the Light Chaser Rescue team's efforts were driven by dedication, not financial gain. He then dispatched a doctor to the site. Overcome with worry for his sister's inability to communicate, Luo Ben even attempted to enter the unstable ruins himself but was stopped.
Captain Qingshan eventually allowed Luo Ben, along with Xiong Fei and Zhan Yan, to enter the dangerous structure, cautioning them to follow Xiong Fei's commands due to its instability. Luo Ben promised to prioritize his sister's safety by adhering to instructions. Meanwhile, away from the immediate rescue, Zhan Yan patiently tried to comfort Lele, a young boy who was struggling with the emotional aftermath of the disaster.
She offered him warm milk and shared a story about butterflies, encouraging him to be strong. Ding Dingding, seeing Zhan Yan's gentle demeanor, playfully noted how much kinder she was to children than to her. Soon after, Zhan Yan was called away to another patient, leaving Lele in Ding Dingding's care.
Ding Dingding, having found a weak signal, quickly called her family to reassure them and then contacted her publisher, promising to return by the day after tomorrow at the latest. She worried about finding a ride back to Linjiang. Just then, Zhou Mingming arrived, a young man delivering a truckload of relief supplies. Ding Dingding volunteered to help him unload the goods, hoping to catch a ride back to Linjiang with him.
However, after the arduous task of unloading, Zhou Mingming announced his intention to stay in the disaster area for at least three days, or even longer, to continue helping. Ding Dingding, frustrated by his change of plans, argued that he would be more of a hindrance than a help, which only spurred Zhou Mingming to stay and prove her wrong. Deep within the ruins, Xiong Fei carefully navigated the narrow, rubble-filled passages.
Luo Ben, monitoring Xiong Fei's progress from the outside via screens, advised him to approach from the south, where the structure had more support, noting that Luo Yuan's lower body was trapped by heavy objects. Zhan Yan examined Luo Yuan, noting that while her leg injury was concerning, a suspected spleen rupture was far more critical and required immediate surgery.
The headmaster, understanding the severity of his own injuries, urged Zhan Yan to prioritize Luo Yuan, stating that Luo Yuan was there because he had hired her. Luo Ben emotionally encouraged his sister, promising her the best medical care, assuring her she would dance again and pursue her dreams. Shortly after Luo Yuan was extracted from the rubble, the headmaster, having sacrificed his own chance at survival for Luo Yuan and the child, succumbed to his severe injuries.
Following the successful extraction of Luo Yuan, Captain Qingshan reported to Director Liu that 137 teachers and students from Fengxi Special Education School had been safely evacuated, and three trapped individuals, including Luo Yuan, had been rescued. He regretfully informed Director Liu of the headmaster's death due to severe injuries.
Despite the team's exhaustion, Director Liu assigned them a new mission: to use the school as a base and conduct a thorough search and rescue operation in the surrounding areas, specifically prioritizing the Farmers' Market 800 meters away. Captain Qingshan accepted the mission, reminding his team to prioritize their own safety. The Light Chaser Rescue team immediately mobilized, extending their search to the Farmers' Market, carefully navigating the debris, rescuing both people and even a lost puppy.
Later, Ding Dingding was seen searching through the ruins of a hostel for her laptop, which contained all her manuscripts. Just as she was about to retrieve it, Zhou Mingming abruptly intervened, scolding her for risking her life for a computer. He warned her about potential aftershocks, a warning Ding Dingding scoffed at, questioning the likelihood of such a coincidence. Moments later, the ground began to tremble.
Zhou Mingming quickly shielded Ding Dingding, but in doing so, he injured his leg and fainted at the sight of his own blood. Meanwhile, Luo Ben sat outside the field hospital, anxiously awaiting news of Luo Yuan's surgery. Captain Qingshan approached him, acknowledging his pain and encouraging him to accept the headmaster's kindness and sacrifice. Just then, Ding Dingding arrived, supporting a still-dizzy Zhou Mingming.
She immediately recognized Luo Ben, accusing him, in front of her "Uncle," Captain Qingshan, of having previously colluded with an unscrupulous publisher to defraud her, causing her artwork to be published without attribution. Despite the dramatic accusation, Captain Qingshan calmly attended to Zhou Mingming's injured leg, bandaging it professionally. Impressed by Captain Qingshan's skills and uniform, Zhou Mingming expressed his desire to join the Light Chaser Rescue team.
Ding Dingding, however, scoffed at the idea, pointing out his physical weaknesses, timidity, and hemophobia, even revealing that Captain Qingshan was her uncle and the team captain. Zhou Mingming, in turn, threatened to sue her for insult. As Luo Yuan's surgery progressed, a critical need for A-type blood arose. The medical staff urgently sought donors.
Luo Ben, desperate to save his sister, appealed directly to Zhou Mingming, who, despite his earlier leg injury and hemophobia, was pressured by the doctor and Luo Ben to donate. Zhou Mingming reluctantly agreed, only to faint immediately after giving blood. Back at the field hospital, Ding Dingding prepared to leave once Zhou Mingming regained consciousness, but he grabbed her arm, insisting she stay to care for him. Despite her protests, she conceded.
Later, a relieved Luo Ben heard the good news: Luo Yuan was out of danger. He sincerely thanked Zhan Yan, who gently suggested he should truly thank the headmaster for his ultimate sacrifice. Luo Ben then met with the village chief, learning of the headmaster's lifelong dedication to building and maintaining the school.
Moved, Luo Ben presented the village chief with a bank card, offering a small contribution to the school's eventual reconstruction, hoping it would honor the headmaster's memory and ensure a brighter future for the children.
