After a grueling training session that left Zhou Mingming utterly exhausted, his legs trembling from the effort, he found himself too fatigued to drive. He called Li Aiqi to arrange a designated driver for him. Later, while reviewing promotional materials at work, Zhou Mingming was dismayed to discover there were no photos of him.

Ding Dingding, his supervisor, frankly told him he appeared too grim in front of the camera, either frowning or gritting his teeth, unlike the relaxed demeanor of other team members. She added that his face on a brochure would be a "shame" and that she didn't have the time to photoshop him to make him look cool. Luo Yuan received an admission letter from a British academy for further study, a moment of brief joy quickly overshadowed by worry.

She confided in Ding Dingding, expressing concern about leaving Xiong Fei behind for two years, especially since their relationship hadn't yet been officially defined. Ding Dingding tried to reassure her, suggesting she could achieve both her dreams and love, but even she admitted the idea sounded unrealistic. Just then, Xiong Fei sent Luo Yuan a message asking to meet the following day, which she readily agreed to. However, when Luo Ben returned home, he discovered the hidden admission letter.

He pressed his sister about her reluctance to go abroad, revealing he had already contacted her school and made all necessary arrangements, including booking her flight for the next day and arranging for Stephen to meet her at the airport. Despite Luo Yuan's distress and pleas to return the ticket, Luo Ben insisted she leave, stating he could not stand by and watch her make what he considered a foolish decision.

He packed a new phone in her suitcase and promised to visit her frequently. Later, Luo Ben informed someone that Luo Yuan had gone abroad, implying he had interfered with her relationship, referring to it as "breaking up a loving couple." Feeling the burden of his decision, Luo Ben sought out Zhan Yan to confide in her. He explained that Luo Yuan had hidden her admission letter to stay with Xiong Fei.

Zhan Yan acknowledged Luo Ben's concern but argued that his method was too forceful, suggesting he should have discussed it with Luo Yuan instead. She added that it was normal for a girl Luo Yuan's age to be willful when in love. Luo Ben then revealed that Xiong Fei had been incarcerated for negligent killing while protecting his sister.

While he had no doubts about Xiong Fei's character, Luo Ben questioned how Xiong Fei, given his past, could secure a decent job or provide a happy life for Luo Yuan. He believed sending Luo Yuan abroad was the best choice for her future. Zhan Yan reassured him that he wasn't wrong and that Luo Yuan would eventually understand. Exhausted, Luo Ben asked if he could rest on her sofa, and Zhan Yan kindly got him a blanket.

When Luo Ben woke up, Zhan Yan had already left for work at the hospital. Knowing her tendency to neglect meals when busy, Luo Ben left her thoughtful sticky notes around the apartment, reminding her to eat properly (forbidden to substitute water for food, eat less cold food, soup nourishes stomach), and he prepared dinner for her. Zhan Yan returned home to find the notes and the warm soup he had left, feeling deeply touched.

Determined to improve his image for promotional materials, Zhou Mingming brought Ding Dingding to the training base for a reshoot. As they were filming, someone nearby fell into the water. Zhou Mingming instinctively rushed to the rescue. The struggling man's resistance hindered the rescue, forcing Zhou Mingming to briefly knock him unconscious to safely pull him to shore before he was transported to the hospital.

However, instead of gratitude, the rescued man angrily accused Zhou Mingming of violence, telling him he lacked the ability to be a hero and was unfit to be a rescuer. This harsh criticism deeply affected Zhou Mingming. Just then, Zhan Yan arrived, refuting the man's accusations and citing the law that protected good Samaritans from liability for actions taken during emergency rescues. She comforted Zhou Mingming, telling him he had done nothing wrong and should have a clear conscience.

Meanwhile, Luo Yuan, having feigned her departure to the airport, slipped away when Luo Ben wasn't looking. She then sought refuge with Ding Dingding, desperately pleading to stay. Initially, Ding Dingding was reluctant, fearing Luo Ben's severe reaction, imagining herself as an accessory who would face dire consequences if Luo Ben discovered Luo Yuan was with her. However, unable to resist Luo Yuan's persistence, Ding Dingding eventually agreed, cautioning her to avoid Luo Ben.

Later, Luo Ben received a call from Stephen, his friend in the UK, who confirmed that Luo Yuan had never boarded her flight despite waiting for three hours. Luo Ben immediately texted Luo Yuan. Ding Dingding, impersonating Luo Yuan, replied to Luo Ben, stating that she had not boarded the flight, was temporarily staying with a friend, and needed some time alone. Believing Xiong Fei was hiding his sister, Luo Ben angrily confronted him at his wonton shop.

Xiong Fei denied hiding Luo Yuan but, gathering his courage, openly confessed his deep affection for her, vowing not to hide his feelings anymore. He acknowledged his past, including his time in prison, and his modest family background, admitting that in others' eyes, he might not be worthy of Luo Yuan. However, he emphasized that Luo Yuan was different; she never looked down on him or distanced herself because of his past.

On the contrary, she supported and helped him when he started his new business, making him feel truly happy and secure. He earnestly asked Luo Ben for a chance to care for Luo Yuan. Unconvinced, Luo Ben dismissed his words, still believing Xiong Fei was acting unscrupulously. Xiong Fei then suggested Luo Ben consider why Luo Yuan was avoiding him, stating their relationship was open and honest, and he wouldn't hide her.

Luo Yuan, who had been hiding nearby and overheard the entire conversation, approached Xiong Fei after Luo Ben left. Xiong Fei, seeing her, gently took her dance shoes, offering to repair them and make them "as good as new," a gesture that deeply moved her. Meanwhile, still unaware of Luo Yuan's reunion with Xiong Fei, Luo Ben continued his search, calling Miss Chen for any news.

He later spoke to Zhan Yan, expressing his worry about Luo Yuan but also acknowledging that she had grown up and perhaps no longer needed him as her protector. He simply hoped she was safe. He also recalled that Luo Yuan used to visit the lake frequently alone to contemplate and enjoy the scenery.
