After finishing the call, Qiao Jingjing had no choice but to leave Yu Tu in the home theater for the time being. Although Ling Jie had long wanted to meet Yu Tu, the makeup team was outsourced, so she couldn't reveal that Yu Tu was at her house. Yu Tu completely understood Jingjing’s situation and stayed alone in the home theater. After Jingjing left, she sent Yu Tu a message asking him to wait at home for her return.

Once she was dressed, Jingjing went to meet Director Li, who had gathered some of the actors together. It was nearly certain—90%—that Jingjing had secured the film role. When Director Li commented that she was too thin, Jingjing was overjoyed and dragged Yu Tu, who was keeping watch at her house, out for a meal. Today was Ling Jie’s husband’s birthday, and Jingjing intended to tag along with Yu Tu to crash the dinner.

Ling Jie had heard Pei Pei gush about how handsome Yu Tu was every day, and seeing him in person did not disappoint her—her gaze remained fixed on him the whole time. Even though it was Ling Jie’s husband’s birthday, Jingjing mischievously gave him a necklace, joking that she was helping him save the trouble of buying a gift for Ling Jie. After sending her husband away, Ling Jie looked at Yu Tu with sparkling eyes.

As a manager, she was determined not to let such a good-looking man go. She insisted Yu Tu should join the entertainment industry and promised she could make him a star within six months. Yu Tu declined Ling Jie’s offer with a smile, and Jingjing also shook her head, asking Ling Jie to let him off the hook.

Their unexpected visit meant Ling Jie hadn’t prepared enough food, and when she heard that Jingjing wanted hot pot, she invited Pei Pei and the others over as well and ordered hot pot for a lively group dinner. At the dinner table, Jingjing brought up that she and Yu Tu had been schoolmates since junior high, which surprised Yu Tu a bit. Ling Jie then mentioned the meeting with the director earlier that day.

The film was a collaboration between Jingjing and Duan Wu, but Duan Wu’s manager had tried to sabotage Jingjing by pointing out that her gaming skills didn’t match her public persona. Fortunately, Jingjing’s gaming skills had improved quickly. She played a ranked match on Duan Wu’s manager’s Platinum account right on the spot, regaining her pride and securing the role. Ling Jie’s husband, A Guo, was also Jingjing’s former teacher.

When he learned that it was Yu Tu who had helped train her gaming skills, he eagerly proposed a PK match. However, he was thoroughly defeated, leaving everyone in stitches. After dinner, Yu Tu and A Guo chatted about stocks and mutual funds. A Guo asked about Yu Tu’s career, and Yu Tu confidently told him that he would be joining an investment bank next month.

Jingjing overheard this from the other side of the room and came over to talk to Yu Tu. Standing with him on the balcony, she asked about his plans. She had admired him since high school and would support him no matter whether he chose aerospace or investment banking. Jingjing set a goal to gain five pounds and reach the “Glory” rank in the game within 30 days.

But she hit her weight goal within just one week, which earned her a scolding from Ling Jie. Weighing in at 97 pounds, Jingjing felt the pressure but couldn’t resist the temptation of delicious food. She decided that if she couldn’t reach the “Glory” rank within an hour, she wouldn’t eat. Her skills had significantly improved under Yu Tu’s guidance, and she cleared the promotion matches easily, so they went out for a meal as promised.
