> The Psychologist Recap

The school director informed Yao Kexin that the academy would not tolerate any misconduct from Professor Ji. Unyielding, Yao Kexin demanded a public hearing for the following week, asserting that she had already contacted the media. She fiercely questioned the director, asking if he thought she was lying and if he feared the school’s reputation would be ruined by their inaction, or if he wanted to see more victims.

The director, caught in a difficult position due to the sensitive nature of the public opinion, tried to reassure her that the school would not protect Professor Ji if he was found guilty. Yao Kexin, however, pushed her demands: if Professor Ji could prove her thesis was flawed, she would withdraw from the university, but if not, he must publicly apologize.

Despite the director's request for more time to prepare, Yao Kexin stated that she had already scheduled the hearing for next Friday and would seek help from the police and society if her demands were not met. Later that morning, He Dun awoke to a teasing Lili, who hinted at He Dun's romantic progress with Qian Kaiyi. He Dun, flustered, tried to deflect.

After learning Qian Kaiyi had already left for the radio station, Lili expressed disappointment at missing a ride. The two then decided to collaborate on the Yao Kexin case, with Lili planning to "infiltrate enemy lines" and He Dun to "penetrate our party." Lili successfully infiltrated Yao Kexin’s psychology class by pretending to be a student from the School of Economics and Management. She befriended a classmate by discussing popular clothing brands.

When Lili subtly inquired about Yao Kexin, the classmate, initially cautious, revealed that Yao Kexin had a history of borrowing money from many students and that she herself had received a dunning call for Yao Kexin. Lili managed to obtain the debt collector's phone number. Meanwhile, He Dun visited Professor Zhang, a trusted friend of Professor Ji.

Professor Zhang firmly believed in Professor Ji's integrity, describing him as a strict and meticulous scholar, and dismissed Yao Kexin's accusations as a fabrication. He Dun, however, found Yao Kexin’s thesis to be exceptionally well-written, suspiciously so for a student, suggesting a deeper conspiracy. Professor Zhang confirmed that Professor Ji had a plan but was intentionally keeping silent, partly to protect He Dun, given her public profile and the sensitive nature of the allegations.

He advised He Dun to trust Professor Ji and await the public hearing, which was now scheduled for the next day, assuring her that "everything will be clear." He Dun, however, remained concerned that the situation could not be left to Professor Ji’s passive approach, noticing how well-arranged Yao Kexin’s actions were, from her calm answers to quickly answering questions. Following the lead from the classmate, Lili located the loan shark.

She attempted to borrow money, first asking for 8,000 and then 20,000 yuan. Upon hearing that Yao Kexin had introduced her, the loan shark initially refused, revealing that Yao Kexin was a major debtor who owed months of payments. Lili, resorting to dramatic pleas about her boyfriend, convinced the loan shark to consider her application. The loan shark explained their strict one-month contract with compounding interest, confirming that Yao Kexin had promised to settle her outstanding debt in two days.

Lili provided her ID card as collateral. Qian Kaiyi, posing as "Mr. Kang," a reporter, interviewed Yao Kexin. Yao Kexin, having been meticulously coached by Ye Jiahui, confidently and flawlessly responded to questions regarding her relationship with Professor Ji and her thesis. She recounted a fabricated story about Professor Ji inviting her to his home while drunk, implying inappropriate advances.

When Qian Kaiyi questioned the prodigious data collection for her high-quality thesis, she defensively affirmed her professionalism and the originality of her work. Qian Kaiyi then probed about Li Yun, another student of Professor Ji, whose disciplinary outcome was not yet public. Yao Kexin inadvertently revealed her knowledge that Li Yun’s license had been revoked. Noticing her slip, Qian Kaiyi pressed her on how she knew this information.

Yao Kexin briefly panicked and excused herself to the restroom, where she received a phone call from Ye Jiahui. Upon returning, her demeanor had completely shifted; she was now remarkably composed. She firmly stated that Li Yun’s situation was irrelevant to her case and that Professor Ji was the true wrongdoer, not her. With that, she abruptly concluded the interview, citing another appointment.

Later, Officer Jin spotted Lili and confronted her about her phone number appearing in a campus loan shark's call records. Lili, feigning ignorance, claimed it was a random dial. Officer Jin sternly warned her about the dangers of involvement with loan sharks, offering his contact information for any difficulties. Lili, stating she had left her phone at home, invited him for tea.

At a society meeting, Wen Liang announced that Ye Jicheng had prioritized the production of the ARMS therapeutic apparatus and that he had devised a strategy for its medical market promotion. He solicited the support of the committee members, particularly in light of the upcoming re-election, expressing confidence in their choices. Ye Jicheng, present at the meeting, offered a toast, wishing President Wen great success. That evening, He Dun, Lili, and Qian Kaiyi discussed the day's findings.

He Dun and Lili confirmed Yao Kexin's substantial debt and the suspicious timing of her promised repayment after the hearing. Qian Kaiyi’s account of his interview further solidified their belief that Yao Kexin was being manipulated by an unseen figure. He explained how Yao Kexin’s composure, after an initial panic and a discreet phone call, pointed to external orchestration, driven either by deep animosity or conflicting interests.

They concluded that the hearing was a critical juncture to uncover the mastermind behind the scheme. The following day at Haifeng Radio International, Director Pan introduced Qian Kaiyi to Wen He, a psychology expert, who was brought in as a guest for the "Time Interview" to address campus sexual assault cases. He Dun arrived and greeted Wen He, revealing that Wen He was her supervisor Wen Liang's younger sister and an accomplished psychological counselor.

Wen He then asked He Dun to show her around the station. Separately, Qian Kaiyi advised a colleague to defer covering campus sexual assault cases, citing the unresolved truths and high public interest, preferring to avoid speculative topics. Lili revisited Officer Jin, ostensibly to return a pen and inquire about applying for a new ID card.

Officer Jin teased her about potentially pawning her ID for a loan, a suggestion Lili vehemently denied, vaguely hinting she was involved in "doing something good." Officer Jin reiterated that his station didn't handle ID applications and, despite her habitual confusion, directed her to a photo booth. After Lili took her photo, Officer Jin, instructing her to keep it safe, was called away for an urgent mission.

He Dun later confronted Qian Kaiyi, suggesting Director Pan's influence was behind Wen He's invitation to cover campus sexual assault. He Dun expressed her own capability and desire to lead such a program, concerned about her show, "Night Talk to Your Heart," being sidelined. Qian Kaiyi clarified that "Night Talk to Your Heart" specialized in professional emotional counseling with its unique host-counselor format, while "Time Interview" was for celebrity interviews.

He argued that simply replicating their model would only bring fleeting success, subtly implying that He Dun's expertise surpassed Wen He's. He Dun, however, humbly disagreed, but reaffirmed her serious commitment to tackling the campus sexual assault topic. The public hearing began. He Dun, with Qian Kaiyi's resourceful help posing her as a journalist, managed to gain entry. Inside, Yao Kexin confidently presented her thesis, claiming extensive research.

However, He Dun perceived her answers as evasive, noting Yao Kexin's deliberate attempts to steer the discussion towards Professor Ji's alleged sexual harassment rather than the academic integrity of her work. Just as Professor Ji arrived, apologizing for his delay and intending to expose Yao Kexin's plagiarism by asserting the thesis wasn't her original work, Yao Kexin preempted him. She quickly instructed her associate, Miss Huang, to distribute pre-prepared documents that provided all sources and justifications for her thesis data, effectively neutralizing Professor Ji's argument.
