The Psychologist Episode 2 Recap
> The Psychologist Recap
He Dun's best friend, Tang Lili, sought to comfort her after He Dun's resignation. Lili took He Dun to a bar, urging her to find a relationship, suggesting it was a sure way to stimulate dopamine. He Dun, however, was resistant, playfully remarking that she "released male hormones" and that men should stay away.
As Lili tried to matchmake, He Dun critically analyzed each man, including one in a flamboyant shirt whom she described as arrogant and narcissistic, a type she particularly disliked. Coincidentally, Ye Jiahui was also at the same bar, drinking with friends. While washing her hands, He Dun, with her professional keenness, observed Ye Jiahui take medication before consuming a significant amount of alcohol. As expected, Ye Jiahui soon experienced breathing difficulties and collapsed.
At the same time, Qian Kaiyi, having seen He Dun in an online video and recognized her as the psychologist who had called him, arrived at the bar looking for her. Just as he was about to approach, He Dun dashed past him to aid the unconscious Ye Jiahui, and Qian Kaiyi joined in the effort. He Dun's prompt and correct first aid stabilized Ye Jiahui, who was then escorted to an ambulance.
However, shortly after regaining consciousness, Ye Jiahui discreetly left the ambulance. After the commotion, Qian Kaiyi finally introduced himself to He Dun, identifying himself as You Na's substitute teacher and the one who had spoken to her on the phone earlier. Almost immediately, He Dun received a call from You Na's teacher, informing them that You Na was in distress.
He Dun quickly called You Na, who chillingly rated her suicidal impulse at 100 points, stating she was on the school's diving platform. He Dun rushed to the school. As she arrived, You Na jumped from the diving platform. Without hesitation, He Dun plunged into the pool after her, pulling You Na to the edge and helping her out.
The moment He Dun emerged from the water, she was overcome by a childhood memory, causing her to fall backward and lose consciousness. Thankfully, Qian Kaiyi arrived in time and performed artificial respiration, saving her. You Na's parents soon arrived at the school. He Dun approached You Na's mother, gently advising her that You Na's recent behavior indicated psychological issues needing their attention and that she needed professional psychological treatment.
You Na's mother was dismissive, claiming her daughter would never truly attempt suicide. He Dun then showed her a photo taken by Qian Kaiyi, depicting You Na on the diving platform, emphasizing the grave danger. She explained that her intervention only addressed the immediate crisis, not the underlying problems, and urged the mother to closely monitor You Na's behavior at home.
He Dun also learned from You Na that she recognized her by voice from the suicide intervention hotline, as You Na, a broadcasting student, was highly sensitive to sounds. That evening, Qian Kaiyi offered He Dun a ride home on his motorbike, as both were soaked. They changed into high school uniforms provided by a teacher.
On their way, they were stopped by traffic police who mistook them for underage students on a late-night date and took them to the police station. Tang Lili and Qian Kaiyi's colleague arrived to vouch for their identities. Qian Kaiyi, using the excuse of You Na's mother potentially needing psychological assistance, asked for He Dun's contact information. He Dun clarified that her teaching role was only part-time. Meanwhile, You Na was home, sitting silently in the dark.
Her mother, observing her distress, saw You Na suddenly begin to slap herself repeatedly. Panicked, her mother rushed to hold You Na, reassuring her of her presence and offering comfort. However, You Na's problems persisted. The following day, He Dun moved into Lili's apartment. Qian Kaiyi arrived to help with the boxes and informed He Dun that You Na's mother had contacted him, requesting He Dun's psychological assistance.
He Dun explained the necessity of a proper counseling office, emphasizing that a fixed location, frequency, and time were crucial for clients' sense of security and to prevent anxiety, and that an informal setting like a cafe was unacceptable. Lili then suggested converting their living room, reminding He Dun of her previous ambition to open a private practice, for which her license was already approved.
Qian Kaiyi supported the idea, likening starting a business to parenthood, where one learns as they go, and He Dun also explained the importance of every detail in a professional counseling room, from size to decor. Convinced, He Dun agreed, and all three immediately began planning to set up the new office. He Dun questioned Qian Kaiyi's intense involvement, asking if he had ulterior motives.
Qian Kaiyi denied it, explaining his concern stemmed from You Na's mother threatening to report the school to the education bureau, which could jeopardize his job at the radio station. He jokingly alluded to the artificial respiration he performed, implying that He Dun might be misinterpreting his actions, which she quickly brushed off as absurd. He Dun then steered the conversation to You Na's situation, asking for details about her conflict with a classmate named Zhe.
Qian Kaiyi revealed that You Na and Zhe were both top students in their broadcasting class. During a high-platform performance, You Na fell, convinced that Zhe had pushed her, an accusation Zhe denied. This incident appeared to be the core issue behind You Na's current psychological struggles.
