After dinner, Lin Zhixiao returned to the school music room to continue practicing with Shao Jiang. Since her phone was on silent mode, Gu Wei’s calls went unanswered. By the time evening came, Lin Zhixiao picked up her phone and found many missed calls. She quickly called back and explained the situation. Gu Wei had originally invited her to dinner the next evening, but Lin Zhixiao was too busy to make it. Though disappointed, Gu Wei said he understood.

His mother then called and said the daughter of an old friend had gastritis and wanted a consultation. Since Gu Wei had no plans the next day, he readily agreed. That night, Gu Wei sat alone in the living room, his mind filled with images of Lin Zhixiao and Shao Jiang, along with Shao Jiang’s taunting remarks about the age gap. He felt uneasy. He tried calling Lin Zhixiao again, but still couldn't reach her.

Growing increasingly anxious and checking the time repeatedly, he was startled when the doorbell suddenly rang. Lin Zhixiao rushed in, hugged Gu Wei, and apologized. She had brought chicken soup and added cilantro to it. Just then, Shao Jiang messaged Lin Zhixiao saying the band missed her. Lin Zhixiao sent him a voice note teasing his preferences, and Gu Wei, now extremely jealous, seriously told her that he didn’t like cilantro at all.

Realizing Gu Wei was jealous, Lin Zhixiao playfully teased him. Though Gu Wei continued to deny it, his jealousy was obvious. That night, Gu Wei tossed and turned, unable to sleep, while Lin Zhixiao slept peacefully. The next morning, she woke up refreshed and messaged Gu Wei to ask if he’d take her to school. To her surprise, Gu Wei declined, saying he had other plans. This made Lin Zhixiao distracted during rehearsal and prone to mistakes.

Noticing her bad mood, Shao Jiang told her to take a break and seized the chance to express his feelings. He said that if he hadn’t gone abroad back then, they might already be together. But Lin Zhixiao rejected this idea, saying that her feelings for Shao Jiang in high school were more like admiration for an older brother—not romantic love like what she had for Gu Wei.

Shao Jiang was inexplicably saddened by her response, but at least everything was now out in the open. Lin Zhixiao didn’t know how to comfort him. Just then, she received a call from Xiao Shan, who told her that Gu Wei hadn’t gone to work but was actually on a blind date at a café. Lin Zhixiao was instantly furious. She rushed to the café and hid behind a fish tank with Xiao Shan to observe.

In fact, Gu Wei had already explained to the woman that he had a girlfriend, though he hadn’t told his family yet. Xiao Shan had to leave for an emergency and warned Lin Zhixiao not to act impulsively. Gu Wei noticed Lin Zhixiao hiding behind the fish tank and deliberately said things to make her jealous. As expected, Lin Zhixiao was furious.

Gu Xiao walked over and further agitated her by saying that Gu Wei had taken a liking to the female PhD student. Unable to hold back, Lin Zhixiao splashed water on Gu Xiao and stormed out. Gu Wei ran after her and explained everything from the beginning. When she learned that Gu Wei’s actions were driven by jealousy, Lin Zhixiao felt a bit better but pretended to stay mad. To punish him, she bought cilantro-flavored ice cream.

Gu Wei reluctantly took a bite, and Lin Zhixiao couldn’t help but laugh, wiping the corner of his mouth with a tissue. The two made up. That night, back home, Gu Wei took out his published paper and showed that he had written Lin Zhixiao’s name at the end of it. He told her he wasn’t part of her past, but he would be part of her present and future. Lin Zhixiao was moved to tears, and they hugged.

Later, Gu Wei received a call from his parents and joined them for a meal. They had already heard about Lin Zhixiao from Gao Xi and were initially opposed. But Gu Wei firmly said they didn’t need to accept her immediately, just give it time. Seeing his determination, his parents agreed to observe Lin Zhixiao more before forming any conclusions. After dinner with Xiao Shan, Lin Zhixiao packed three dishes and brought them to the hospital.

She couldn’t help but gush about Gu Wei. While the couple flirted in the office, Gu Wei suddenly received a call from Nurse Chen Xiaowei about an emergency surgery. Lin Zhixiao watched him rush out, feeling both distressed and proud of his dedication to work. After work, Lin Zhixiao heard the door open and knew Gu Wei was back.

She excitedly grabbed the Polaroid camera to find him and mentioned how Yin Xi and her boyfriend constantly posted sweet photos online. At first, Gu Wei didn’t know how to use the camera, but with Lin Zhixiao’s help, he quickly got into it. Since Lin Zhixiao thought Gu Wei’s candid shots were awful, she took a few close-up photos of him herself. The two teased and played, full of sweetness.

After their photo session, it was already late, and Gu Wei still had work to do. Lin Zhixiao kissed him before leaving but turned back, unwilling to part, and insisted on making him a late-night snack. But Lin Zhixiao wasn’t good at cooking, so the task still fell to Gu Wei. While the porridge cooked in the kitchen, Gu Wei brought out a photo album and shared it with Lin Zhixiao, introducing her to his parents. Lin Zhixiao thought Gu Wei’s parents looked dignified and attractive, saying that Gu Wei had inherited all their best traits—making her proud once again.
