> The Destiny of White Snake Recap

The faint sound of bells ushered in the Peach Blossom Festival. Xu Xuan awoke from a dream of a mysterious white-clad girl, feeling a profound sense of loss and familiarity. He wondered, "Who is she? Why do I have such a familiar feeling?" It was also the anniversary of his Master Leng's passing, a day that always brought regret.

He reflected on how Master Leng had saved him and his sister, Xu Jiaorong, long ago, saying, "If Lord Leng didn't save us, we won't even know. . . where would we be now. Or even perhaps. . . we were be long dead by now." Now, Leng Ning, Master Leng's daughter, had completed her three years of mourning. She suggested, "Today is the Peach Blossom Festival. We have been mourning for 3 years.

Master should already have felt our filial piety. We should be able to leave the mountain this year, and get a change of scene." Xu Xuan, noticing her flushed face, asked if she wished to go down the mountain. Although he initially feigned indifference, saying, "You could have just told me," and teasingly added, "How could I refuse my only Sister Leng Ning?" , he eventually agreed.

He instructed Qing Feng to prepare extra money, citing his desire to search for ancient books at the festival. However, Qing Feng teased him, "Aren't you only going because Miss Leng wants to?" Xu Xuan quickly denied it, claiming, "Those cosmetics that girls buy, what do those have to do with me?" He smoothly used this as an excuse to leave the Apothecary House. Meanwhile, Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing arrived at the bustling market.

Xiao Qing commented on the Peach Blossom Festival, saying, "Today is the Peach Blossom Festival, there're fun games and food everywhere. This mask is exclusive to the festival." Xu Xuan, still feeling the lingering presence of the girl from his dream, spotted a flash of white and eagerly pursued it, only to lose sight of it at a mask stall. Leng Ning and Qing Feng quickly caught up to him, asking, "Lord Xu, you went off so quickly.

Why did you come over here? What are you looking for?" Xu Xuan vaguely replied, "Nothing." Leng Ning, charmed by the masks, bought two and offered one to Xu Xuan. He initially expressed dislike for "such common things," but then conceded that "once in a while, one must go with the crowd." Elsewhere, a lost Bai Yaoyao, separated from Xiao Qing, bumped into Xu Xuan and they exchanged apologies.

The festivities were soon disrupted as Qi Xiao, tracking demon energy, also arrived at the market. He spotted Xiao Qing and immediately recognized her as "the dirty thief who stole the herbs the other day." Xiao Qing retorted defensively, claiming she had returned everything and asking what else he wanted. Qi Xiao, however, accused her of hindering life-saving treatments, stating, "The things you stole were herbs for saving lives.

Did you consider that people's treatments could be hindered, and they could even die?" As Qi Xiao confronted her, Xiao Qing, in an act of self-preservation, seized Leng Ning. Leng Ning bit Xiao Qing, who, instinctively following a snake's nature, bit her back. Qi Xiao, angered, declared, "Demon, I will take you down today!" He attacked Xiao Qing, wounding her before she managed to escape in the ensuing chaos. Around the same time, Xu Xuan noticed a vendor selling snakes.

He promptly bought one and released it into a peach forest. Bai Yaoyao, remembering her past with Zi Xuan, was also drawn to the peach forest. There, she encountered Xu Xuan releasing a small snake. She asked the snake, "Why are you here? Are you lost? You must have been gluttonous. That's how you got caught." In a daze, she perceived Xu Xuan as Zi Xuan, remarking to the snake, "Is that really you, Zi Xuan?

I have never heard of such a gluttonous snake. Did I really mend your primordial spirit? Is it really you?" Xu Xuan, addressing the snake, said, "I think you look pretty intelligent. Be smarter next time. Don't get caught again." Seeing Xu Xuan, the softest part of Bai Yaoyao's heart was touched, and tears welled in her eyes. The memories of a thousand years ago replayed vividly before her. Could Zi Xuan's primordial spirit be fully gathered?

Had Zi Xuan truly resurrected? The man in the peach forest was a spitting image of Zi Xuan. Bai Yaoyao stared at Xu Xuan, tears falling, yearning to return to a time when Zi Xuan was still with her. Suddenly, an injured and bleeding Xiao Qing rushed into the peach forest, crying, "Xiao Bai! Xiao Bai, save me!" In that instant, Xu Xuan vanished from the peach forest. Bai Yaoyao, frantic, asked, "Where is he?

Did you see a person just now? Where did he go?" She insisted, "No, I remember him. His glance, his expression, his breath and his smile. I won't make any mistake when it's about him!" Back at the Apothecary House, Leng Ning's cold poison proved to be abnormally fierce and beyond the reach of ordinary medicines. Xu Xuan expressed regret, saying, "If I didn't get separated from Leng Ning at the time, this wouldn't have happened."

He quickly dispatched someone to the Kunlun Snowy Plains to find the rare eight-petaled, seven-leaved white viburnum, knowing it was the only true cure. However, a disciple informed him that others were already searching for snake guts as a temporary measure to control the poison. Meanwhile, Bai Yaoyao tended to Xiao Qing's wounds. Xiao Qing, recovered, immediately blamed Leng Ning, but Bai Yaoyao admonished her, "You shouldn't have hurt anyone."

Xiao Qing tried to justify her actions, claiming, "She had it coming, a tooth for a tooth," but Bai Yaoyao sharply reminded her, "She's human and you're a demon. Are you guys the same? That bite you gave her will probably kill her." Realizing the gravity of the situation, Bai Yaoyao resolved to make amends.

She instructed Xiao Hui to deliver a letter to Qi Xiao, promising to personally treat Leng Ning's illness if he would spare Xiao Qing for now. Bai Yaoyao also vowed to take Xiao Qing to the Apothecary House "to take responsibility for her actions." Despite Xiao Qing's protests, "I haven't done anything wrong. Why do I have to apologise?"

Bai Yaoyao, after a brief exchange where she probed Xiao Qing's fear of Qi Xiao, prepared to go to the Apothecary House. She sternly warned Xiao Qing, "You be good and stay here. Don't run off, understand? Don't leave on your own. If you cause me more troubles, I will heavily punish you." Upon reaching the Apothecary House, Bai Yaoyao discovered that all entrances were guarded and heavily sprinkled with realgar, leading her to conclude, "It looks like. . .

they know Xiao Qing is a snake demon." Bai Yaoyao found an unguarded spot and decided to enter the Apothecary House from there. However, she unknowingly stepped into a magical barrier, transforming into a white snake. She gasped, "Oh no! This is a magical barrier! Why would the Apothecary House have such a powerful magical barrier?" Realizing her predicament, she thought, "If the people of the Apothecary House see me like this, it will only create more problems."

Soon, a disciple discovered her, exclaiming, "There's a white snake here! Leng Ning can be saved now!" The disciples eagerly captured her, planning to extract her gallbladder to save Leng Ning. Xu Xuan was summoned. Bai Yaoyao, recognizing him, thought, "It wasn't my imagination. So he is the Lord of the Apothecary House." Xu Xuan, appearing cold and ruthless, instructed, "Send it to the Elixir Chamber. I want to remove its guts by myself."

To the snake, he said, "I'm doing this in person. It's your lucky day." However, a disciple, seeing Leng Ning's worsening condition, questioned why Xu Xuan hadn't prescribed medicine. Xu Xuan explained that the white viburnum was still on its way, due to arrive tomorrow, and that using snake guts was merely "a backup plan" for temporary control.

He added, "If we want to truly cure Leng Ning's body of poison, we have to wait for the white viburnum to arrive tomorrow." The disciple, confused, asked, "But. . . But, weren't you. . . removing the snake guts?" Xu Xuan then revealed his true intention: "That snake had a hidden ailment. I was cleaning out the rotting wound on its belly." Bai Yaoyao, who was listening, realized he was "healing the snake?"

Xu Xuan further elaborated on his medical philosophy: "Human or snake, as long as they're in the Apothecary House and they are hurt, then it's an insult to my medical skill. Consider it as helping Leng Ning. . . to gather some karma." He reiterated his preference, stating, "If we have the white viburnum, then naturally we won't need to harm that white snake."

Despite a disciple's concern for Leng Ning, Xu Xuan firmly stated, "Saving living things is the most important rule of practising medicine." Leng Ning, observing Xu Xuan's calm demeanor, commented, "I have yet to see a patient. . . that could render him helpless," expressing her trust in him. Bai Yaoyao, after witnessing Xu Xuan's actions, reflected, "Using guts to save people. Zi Xuan would never do that."

Intrigued and determined to confirm his identity, she decided, "No, I want to read his memories tonight." Later, she managed to enter his consciousness. To her surprise, she found no trace of Zi Xuan's memories, wondering, "Why doesn't he have one shred of Zi Xuan's memories?" Yet, she was struck by the purity of his inner world, thinking, "I never expected your heart. . . to be so pure white."

She struggled to use her powers within his mind, realizing, "I can't use even a single bit of prowess in Xu Xuan's conscious." She was baffled by the contradiction: "There isn't any deity aura left, yet he has such a strong and powerful conscious. How is this possible?" Soon, alarming news reached Xu Xuan: the cargo ship carrying the white viburnum had encountered a storm, and all the precious herbs were lost.

Xu Xuan was dismayed, realizing, "Is it that we can only use this snake as a cure?" He desperately ordered his disciples to spread the word across every clinic, pharmacy, and sect, big or small, that the Apothecary House would "pay any price" for a Mount Kunlun white viburnum, exhausting every possibility. Just then, more bad news arrived: Leng Ning's condition had severely worsened, her face ashen, breathing rapidly, and coughing up black blood.

The poison had spread to her arteries, demanding immediate medication, yet "there's nothing useful but the white viburnum." With no other choice, Xu Xuan reluctantly ordered, "Prepare the medical kit, and come with me to get the snake gut." Meanwhile, Xiao Hui informed Xiao Qing that the Apothecary House had captured a white snake and intended to use its guts as a cure.

Xiao Qing, aghast, rushed to rescue Bai Yaoyao, but upon arriving, she found the entrances guarded by spells. She was confronted by Xu Xuan, who she accused of being ruthless for planning to kill the white snake. Xu Xuan, in turn, sharply criticized her for biting Leng Ning and daring to cause trouble. He stated, "I hate being threatened. Especially when I am threatened publicly," and ordered her capture. Xiao Qing was subsequently thrown into the dungeon.

Observing Xu Xuan's actions and willingness to use the snake, Bai Yaoyao, still in her snake form, internally concluded, "He must not be Zi Xuan. What a waste of Zi Xuan's good look." Soon after, she made her escape, and a disciple reported to Xu Xuan that the white snake was gone. Later, Bai Yaoyao reappeared at the Apothecary House, now in her human form, introducing herself as "Bai Yaoyao, the disciple of the Sacred Lady of Mount Li."

She claimed she came of her own accord to help Xiao Qing. Xu Xuan, initially dismissive, said, "If you are here to ask for mercy for Xiao Qing, please leave." However, Bai Yaoyao clarified her true purpose: "Xiao Qing did something wrong. I'm here to help cure Miss Leng Ning." Xu Xuan, surprised, challenged her abilities, asking, "If even I can't do anything, what makes you think you can cure Leng Ning?"

Bai Yaoyao explained that besides medicine, "there is another way. . . magical prowess." Skeptical, Xu Xuan dismissed her powers as "parlour tricks" and asked what else she could do. To test her, Xu Xuan produced a box containing a Sacred Spider of the West, known for its "pretty fatal" poison. Bai Yaoyao immediately recognized the spider and understood his intention: "Are you. . . trying to test me with this? In order to test me, you're risking your life?"

Xu Xuan justified his actions by citing his profound debt to his Master and his responsibility towards the Apothecary House and Leng Ning. He refused to entrust Leng Ning to someone with a "shady background." Bai Yaoyao defended her integrity, stating that her sect's only rule was not to lie. Xu Xuan then allowed the spider to bite him, despite Bai Yaoyao's exasperation and teasing.

She implored him to use his arterial closing technique to resist the poison, but he refused, explaining, "If I close off my arteries, how can I test you? If you won't even save someone right in front of you, how can I trust you will save Leng Ning?" Faced with Xu Xuan's unwavering resolve, Bai Yaoyao had no choice but to use her magic to heal him. After she successfully cured him, Xu Xuan declared, "I've won the gamble. You've passed the test."
