As the full moon night approached, Zhan Huang confirmed his preparations to retrieve the Fate of Dubhe in two days. His subordinate questioned if the strong Yin energy of the full moon might favor Bai Yaoyao, a snake demon. Meanwhile, Bai Yaoyao dreamt of heavenly peaches and found herself questioning the nature of her reality.
In her dream, the Heavenly Emperor appeared, acknowledging her as the disciple of the Sacred Lady of Mount Li, and offered to teach her the mysteries of the Wordless Heaven Scroll, simply by showing her water. Upon waking, Bai Yaoyao wondered if her dream was real before indulging in a heavenly peach. Xu Xuan, desperate to locate Zhan Huang, knew that the Qilin tribe was highly sensitive to the scent of dragon pearls.
He combined a Qilin with Wujilan flowers to amplify the dragon pearl's scent, knowing it would attract the Heavenly Emperor. Indeed, the Heavenly Emperor appeared, praising Xu Xuan's keen intelligence. Xu Xuan, however, admitted he had merely studied ancient texts and made an educated guess, now confirmed. The Heavenly Emperor, noting Xu Xuan's "unscrupulous" method of making him appear, questioned why he wasn't showing proper respect.
Xu Xuan countered that the Heavenly Emperor's reclusiveness suggested he cared little for such formalities. The Heavenly Emperor, observing that both Xu Xuan and Zhan Huang had lost their senses over Bai Yaoyao, whom he found "ordinary but interesting," asked Xu Xuan's purpose for seeking him out. Xu Xuan confessed to being the one who released the Demon Emperor (Zhan Huang), stating he deserved punishment, but had another, more urgent matter.
He then boldly attacked the Heavenly Emperor, deliberately staining his Tianji Sword with the Heavenly Emperor's blood, explaining that this was the only way to track Zhan Huang's whereabouts across the three realms. When Xu Xuan inquired about Bai Yaoyao's safety, the Heavenly Emperor indicated he had his own plans for Zhan Huang and that Xu Xuan needn't involve himself.
Xu Xuan firmly declared that his wife was pure and simple and should not be entangled in the Heavenly Emperor's schemes. He argued that as the one who released Zhan Huang, he should be the one to recapture him, and also requested permission to deliver the Dragon King's last words to Taotie. Just then, Hundred Grass Immortal arrived, feigning alarm over Fa Hai's worsening injuries and urging Xu Xuan to assist his friend.
The Heavenly Emperor, seeing through the ploy to protect Xu Xuan, nonetheless granted his two requests concerning Zhan Huang and Taotie, and entrusted Fa Hai's life to Xu Xuan, warning him of severe repercussions if he failed. After Xu Xuan departed, the Heavenly Emperor revealed to Hundred Grass Immortal that Xu Xuan was destined for a solitary path and would cause unforeseen changes.
He affirmed that Bai Yaoyao possessed the power of fate, and his grand plan would proceed as intended, regardless of Xu Xuan's actions. Meanwhile, Taotie suffered severe punishment from the Eagle Division, enduring lightning strikes while defiantly refusing to surrender and threatening to drag his captors to death with him. Xu Xuan, gaining entry to Taotie's barrier, informed him that the Dragon King had ended his own life.
Taotie initially believed the Heavenly Emperor was responsible, but Xu Xuan clarified that the Dragon King had sacrificed himself. The Dragon King, regretting not raising Taotie, traded his dragon pearl to the Empyrean Heaven to spare his son's life, believing it would prevent Taotie from committing further sins. The Heavenly Emperor's voice echoed, declaring that Taotie's grave sins demanded punishment despite his father's sacrifice. He ordered Taotie's cultivation stripped and his eternal imprisonment in the Demon Prison.
Taotie, in despair, requested to pay respects to his father, but Xu Xuan stated that no one would heed the request now that the Dragon King was gone. Enraged, Taotie vowed to kill Xu Xuan and everyone in the Empyrean Heaven for his father's death. Later, Xu Xuan met with Fa Hai, who, despite Xu Xuan's attempts to conceal it, revealed he knew the Dragon King was still alive.
Xu Xuan confessed that when the Dragon King transformed into a small worm after losing his pearl, he had secretly placed him in the Cloudy Pond of Jiuxi Mountain, using his divine powers to cultivate the Dragon King with spiritual energy while he hibernated. Though the hope for revival was slim, it offered a chance. Fa Hai commended Xu Xuan's compassion.
Fa Hai also expressed concern about Xu Xuan's intention to face Zhan Huang alone during the full moon, especially since Fa Hai himself had lost the Fate of Alkaid. He warned that if anything happened to Xu Xuan, the Empyrean Heaven would lose everything. Xu Xuan remained resolute, vowing to find his wife no matter who tried to stop him, and assured Fa Hai he would accept any punishment after completing his tasks.
Fa Hai, though worried, understood he couldn't stop Xu Xuan and intended to join him. Xu Xuan, however, insisted on going alone, believing Fa Hai would only hinder him. Xiao Qing awoke to find her injuries healed and her broken hairpin mended, leading her to believe Fa Hai (whom she called Qi Xiao) had visited. However, her vision of him was a mere hallucination.
Her friend, Xiao Hui, confirmed that Fa Hai had saved his life from Fairy Xiaoxiang and asked him to wait for Xiao Qing. Xiao Qing, refusing to believe Fa Hai had forgotten her, determined to confront him. Xiaoxiang, meanwhile, dismissed Xiao Qing's notion of Fa Hai visiting, reminding her he was an ascendant deity with no reason to visit a demon.
She urged Xiao Qing to leave Kunlun Mountain, feeling a mix of sympathy for Xiao Qing (seeing her as a fellow victim of Zhan Huang's manipulation) and resentment (due to Xiao Qing endangering Kunlun and Xiaoxiang's past injuries from demons). Xiaoxiang had promised to keep Fa Hai's secret only because he had pledged to sever all ties with demons, devote himself to enlightenment, and protect Kunlun. Fa Hai confirmed to Xiaoxiang his resolve to never see Xiao Qing again.
Xiao Qing eventually found Fa Hai meditating in the Fumo Palace's back mountain, where spiritual pearls of captured demons hung from trees. She told him that if he ever subdued her, she wished her spiritual pearl to be on his prayer beads, not on a tree, so she could be with him always. Fa Hai replied that such a day would never come.
He then placed his staff between them, declaring it the insurmountable distance separating them for this life, vowing never to approach or harm her. Xiao Qing asserted that the distance didn't matter as long as he lived, and she had truly let go of their past. Fa Hai offered his blessings for her liberation from suffering.
Unbeknownst to Fa Hai, Xiao Qing secretly vowed to retrieve the Fate of Alkaid for him, even if it meant sacrificing her own life and never seeing him again, believing it would be worth it to free him from his suffering. Bai Yaoyao, held captive by Zhan Huang, bitterly told him that his greatest mistake was not taking her Fate of Dubhe on Kunlun Mountain, for death then would have been preferable to her current separation from Xu Xuan.
Her words stung Zhan Huang, who had loved her for centuries, and he resolved to ruthlessly take her fate that very night. Bai Yaoyao, unfazed, welcomed the challenge, stating it was exactly what she wanted. While Zhan Huang prepared his grand formation, Bai Yaoyao practiced the fate-altering techniques from the Wordless Heaven Scroll in her room. She discovered that "God had opened a door" for her, rendering her spiritual marble immune to being sealed by Zhan Huang.
Using the Heavenly Emperor's blood, Xu Xuan located Zhan Huang through a mirror, confirming the twin brothers' connection. He realized the Heavenly Emperor intended to use Bai Yaoyao to confront Zhan Huang, a perilous plan given her inferior power. Despite his anxiety, Bai Yaoyao was escorted to Zhan Huang's formation. Hundred Grass Immortal appeared before Xu Xuan and Fa Hai, spraying them with a potent poison fog from Penglai to prevent their intervention.
He revealed the Heavenly Emperor's full strategy: he had secretly guided Bai Yaoyao so that Zhan Huang would fail to seize her Fate of Dubhe, and instead, Bai Yaoyao would use the opportunity to strip Zhan Huang of his Command of Nature. Xu Xuan understood the danger, but, having anticipated Hundred Grass Immortal's obstruction, he had already consumed a concoction of poisons, making him immune for twelve hours. He quickly trapped Hundred Grass Immortal with magic, urging him to leave.
As Zhan Huang initiated his formation, his Command of Nature manifested. Bai Yaoyao confronted him, invoking a powerful technique: "Dubhe devour the moon, overturn the power." She successfully absorbed the Command of Nature from Zhan Huang. Just then, Xu Xuan arrived, calling out to her, but collapsed almost immediately, the poisons he had taken earlier now taking their toll much faster than expected. Bai Yaoyao, asking "What poison?"
in alarm, quickly grabbed Xu Xuan and fled the scene as Zhan Huang, furious at losing his Command of Nature, ordered his subordinates to pursue them. Fortunately, the Heavenly Emperor intervened, allowing Bai Yaoyao and Xu Xuan to escape. Enraged, Zhan Huang accused the Heavenly Emperor of treachery. The Heavenly Emperor, seeing Zhan Huang's lack of remorse, regretted ever hoping he could bring order to the demon tribe and prevent conflict. He declared that with the Command of Nature now in Bai Yaoyao's possession, Zhan Huang had no more leverage to cause chaos.
