Qi Xiao promised Xiao Qing he would fulfill one of her wishes. Xiao Qing's wish was for him to spend an entire day playing with her, to which he readily agreed, promising to fulfill it even if she reverted to her original form. Xiao Qing then lamented that even if she survived the next day, she would lose her cultivation and revert to her original snake form.
Qi Xiao, in response, said he thought it wouldn't be bad, as she would no longer be noisy or fool around. Feeling slighted, Xiao Qing remarked that it wouldn't matter once she became a snake, as she wouldn't know if he despised her or not. Meanwhile, Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao continued their plan to save Xiao Qing. Xu Xuan confirmed that Xiao Qing had eaten the Heavenly Peach, explaining that its deity aura should mask her demon aura.
He instructed Qi Xiao to use this camouflage, while he would feign a primordial spirit ritual and set up an illusion spell, to help Xiao Qing escape during the execution. Xu Xuan emphasized that this was their only chance to protect Xiao Qing, particularly if White Emperor were to discover their true intentions.
He also worried that Bai Yaoyao finding out might cause misunderstandings or disrupt the plan, so he kept her in the dark, asserting he would handle all the aftermath. Qi Xiao, while expressing concern, agreed that Xiao Qing's protection was paramount, and they would deal with future problems as they arose. Elsewhere, the White Emperor confronted the Green Emperor about the Kunlun Mirror being tainted with demon aura, attributing it to Green Emperor's past insistence on borrowing the mirror.
Green Emperor acknowledged his selfish motive to help the demons. The White Emperor highlighted the contrast between Mount Jiuxi, always covered in snow, and Mount Kunlun, usually ever-spring, now in ruins due to the contamination, squarely placing the blame on Green Emperor. Green Emperor accepted responsibility and offered to endure any punishment. White Emperor then revealed that the Demon Emperor was becoming active, with his forces mobilizing, and that the demon aura on Mount Kunlun must have alerted him.
The Heavenly Emperor intended to strike first to force the Demon Emperor to submit. White Emperor, having been tasked with this but finding the reclusive and dark Demon Emperor difficult to deal with, suggested Green Emperor take over, given his past mistakes. Green Emperor expressed reservations, but White Emperor insisted, lamenting that even his disciple Xu Xuan (formerly Zi Xuan) still caused him worries.
At the same time, the Demon Emperor, in his mortal form as Zhan Huang, enlisted Xu Jiao Rong, Xu Xuan's elder sister, to arrange a marriage for him, showering her with silver. He secretly informed his subordinate that Xu Jiao Rong was merely a means to get closer to Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao, who possess the "Fate of Seven Prowesses." He also noted Bai Yaoyao's enigmatic nature and his desire to understand what made him constantly think of her.
Xu Jiao Rong, delighted by the generous payment, promised to find the perfect bride in Lin'an City. Zhan Huang's subordinate detailed the desired qualities: a cheerful, fierce, careless, unconcerned, and attractive woman, preferably knowing martial arts, whose family background was clear. Xu Jiao Rong immediately realized she knew someone who fit the description perfectly. On the day of Xiao Qing's execution, she stood before White Emperor, admitting her mistake and accepting death as her only request.
White Emperor declared her primordial spirit must be destroyed to uphold Kunlun's rules. Xu Xuan, acting as the executioner, began the ritual after removing Xiao Qing's spiritual pearl, attempting to enact the camouflage illusion with Qi Xiao. Suddenly, Bai Yaoyao appeared, disrupting the execution. She declared she could not abandon Xiao Qing and would not stand by as her primordial spirit was destroyed, offering her own attainments instead.
Enraged, White Emperor called Bai Yaoyao an "outrageous demon" for repeatedly causing chaos and declared he would personally deal with both snake demons. Xu Xuan intervened, stating he would handle it himself, repeatedly urging Bai Yaoyao to back down. Zhan Huang's subordinate, observing from afar, worried about Xiao Qing's escape and the risks of facing Xu Xuan and Qi Xiao.
Zhan Huang, however, noted that the Kunlun Mirror had already captured Xiao Qing's demon aura, ensuring the Empyrean Heaven would not easily release her, and contemplated using her to counter-attack. He also wondered if Bai Yaoyao, by intervening, would become implicated. Defying Xu Xuan's warnings, Bai Yaoyao, realizing she was no match for Xu Xuan, deliberately cut herself, allowing her demon blood to drip into the Kunlun Mirror.
She then proposed that she and Xiao Qing sacrifice half their cultivation to cleanse the mirror. White Emperor was further outraged, questioning her understanding of sacrificing half her thousand years of cultivation. Xiao Qing, distraught, urged Bai Yaoyao to run and not be punished for her. Bai Yaoyao refused, asserting that as Xiao Qing was her only family, she would not abandon her.
She reasoned that it was better for both to sacrifice half their cultivation and cultivate together than for Xiao Qing to revert to her original form, leaving Bai Yaoyao alone. Seeing the dire situation, Xu Xuan urged White Emperor to quickly resolve the matter to prevent Mount Kunlun's vitality from being permanently damaged, knowing Heavenly Emperor would eventually discover the extent of the contamination.
White Emperor reluctantly agreed to Bai Yaoyao's proposal but insisted Xu Xuan carry out the execution, which he did, completing the sacrifice of both Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing's cultivation. After the ordeal, Xu Xuan questioned Bai Yaoyao why she didn't trust him. She explained that she knew him too well, understanding he couldn't bring himself to execute Xiao Qing. She had seen through his plan to assume the role of executor so Qi Xiao could help Xiao Qing escape.
Bai Yaoyao stated that she had to disrupt his plan because she refused to let him make further sacrifices for her after all he had endured in the past. Sacrificing half her cultivation was a small price to pay to prevent him from bearing all the consequences alone. Later, Qi Xiao visited a recovering Xiao Qing, who still desired to stay by his side. Qi Xiao promised to take her to any place she wished once she fully recovered.
It was then revealed that Bai Yaoyao had approached Qi Xiao prior to the execution. Aware of Xu Xuan's plan to save Xiao Qing and the severe repercussions from White Emperor and the Queen Mother, she feared Xu Xuan would suffer greatly. Recalling his past sacrifices, she was determined not to let him suffer again.
She instructed Qi Xiao to ensure a gap in the protection of the Kunlun Mirror during Xiao Qing's punishment, allowing her to contaminate it with her demon blood and then propose a joint sacrifice of cultivation. Qi Xiao, despite her limited cultivation, recognized this as the best and only way to protect the Kunlun Mirror, Xiao Qing, and Xu Xuan simultaneously, albeit at a great cost to Bai Yaoyao.
A messenger reported to White Emperor that Xiao Qing and Bai Yaoyao had sacrificed half their cultivation, successfully cleansing the Kunlun Mirror, and requested permission for their recuperation. In the Heavenly Peach Garden, Xu Xuan learned that the Queen Mother, moved by the little demons' past assistance, had mercifully decreed that their clay figures be kept in the garden to absorb the essence of the sun and moon, ensuring their eventual revival.
This news significantly eased Xu Xuan's lingering self-blame and guilt. White Emperor remarked on Xiao Qing's seemingly reckless act inadvertently giving the little demons a new chance, and observed that since Bai Yaoyao and Xiao Qing's primordial spirits were intact, their cultivation could be restored, serving as a valuable character-building experience. Bai Yaoyao, now with Xu Xuan, firmly told him not to make unilateral decisions for her anymore.
She asserted her maturity and readiness to share his burdens and sorrows, insisting he shouldn't bear everything alone. Xu Xuan admitted his past mistakes and willful actions that led to the innocent little demons' demise, expressing gratitude for Xiao Qing's unexpected act that granted them a second chance. He felt that heaven had finally shown mercy to them both, vowing not to disappoint anyone.
Bai Yaoyao made him promise not to act recklessly again, declaring that from then on, through all joys and misfortunes, they would face everything together as husband and wife, never to be separated by life or death. Bai Yaoyao then asked Xu Xuan to take her home, reminding him of the wedding ceremony he still owed her.
Back at Xu's Mansion, Xu Xuan presented her with a wedding dress, explaining he had magically enhanced Xiao Qing's wedding dress, wanting to give her the world's best. He pledged to compensate for all her past sufferings, and they both acknowledged the preciousness of their reunion after so many trials, reaffirming their commitment to each other forever.
