Song Shixiong, who had been unconscious, finally awakened. Everyone had initially assumed that Xu Xuan, under the control of the plague demon and in a deranged state, had injured him. However, Song Shixiong denied this, stating, "The person who hurt me. . . wasn't Lord Xu." He then revealed that it was "Master Yuan Yi."

Later, it became clear that Yuan Yi, who was actually possessed by Tao Tie, had used demonic power to control Song Shixiong and forced him to make this statement, deceiving everyone. With the truth revealed, Bai Yaoyao asked Leng Ning to take Xu Xuan back to The Apothecary House.

Xu Xuan, still infected with the plague, thanked Bai Yaoyao for her companionship, saying it helped him "temporarily set down my daily burdens," and asked her not to make him wait too long for a cure. Crane found her more foolish than ever, but Bai Yaoyao declared her wishes fulfilled and life complete, insisting that they "must get rid of the plague demon immediately" to save Xu Xuan and help people. Having obtained the Wujilan fruit, Bai Yaoyao prepared the elixir. During its creation, she secretly added Soul Chasing Water, intending to bind her soul with Zi Xuan's forever, ensuring they would never be separated again, a resolve unchanged through millennia.

To ensure the smooth treatment of Xu Xuan, Bai Yaoyao enlisted Xiao Qing, Master Yuan Yi, and Qi Xiao to set up a protective formation, which Yuan Yi stated could only last two hours. After Xu Xuan ingested the elixir, Bai Yaoyao used her powers to enter his consciousness. Inside Xu Xuan's consciousness, Bai Yaoyao found Zi Xuan weakened.

The plague demon taunted Bai Yaoyao, revealing it had grown stronger by absorbing some of Zi Xuan's deity powers. Bai Yaoyao countered that the battle would decide who underestimated whom. She then created a barrier to protect the weakened Zi Xuan, facing the plague demon alone.

However, her cultivation was limited, and she was soon trapped by the demon's "Hallucinating Fog" and gravely wounded. Even wielding the sword Zi Xuan once gave her, she could not overpower the strengthened plague demon. Outside Xu Xuan's body, Tao Tie seized the opportunity to cause chaos. Possessing Master Yuan Yi, he disrupted the formation Bai Yaoyao had set up.

Xiao Qing was also injured by Tao Tie's demonic power, leaving Qi Xiao extremely anxious as Bai Yaoyao remained trapped inside. Inside Xu Xuan's consciousness, Zi Xuan's protective barrier was shattered. Realizing Bai Yaoyao's peril, Zi Xuan, disregarding his own safety, forcefully sent her out of the consciousness. During Xu Xuan's absence, Hong Xin, a carp demon, sought out Bai Yaoyao for help. She decided to go to the Green Emperor to borrow the Mirror of Ice, hoping to expel Tao Tie from Yuan Yi's body. The Green Emperor, seeing Bai Yaoyao's stubborn resolve, warned her that using the Ice Mirror would endanger her life, as it is harmful to all demons, and despite her cultivation, her true form is still a snake demon. After Bai Yaoyao disappeared, Master Yuan Yi was also nowhere to be found. Xiao Qing then carried the sleeping Qi Xiao to a small river.

Upon waking, Qi Xiao accused her of intending to eat him, which Xiao Qing indignantly denied, saying it would "dirty her stomach." They exchanged barbs, with Qi Xiao admitting his actions were rash due to anxiety for his master. Suddenly, Xiao Qing had a realization, exclaimed, "Oh no. You ruined my plans. I must find Xiao Bai," and quickly ran off. After acquiring the Mirror of Ice, Bai Yaoyao tracked down Tao Tie, still possessing Master Yuan Yi.

She confronted Tao Tie, who boasted about the body being the best he's had and mocked Yuan Yi. Bai Yaoyao accused him of using Yuan Yi to kill innocent demons for forbidden spells. She attempted to use the Mirror of Ice to force out Tao Tie's spirit, but the mirror harmed her as well. Suddenly, Master Yuan Yi's consciousness resurfaced, filled with deep remorse for the years of killing perpetrated by Tao Tie using his body.

He begged Bai Yaoyao to kill him, asserting that his body could no longer sustain the possession and would die regardless. He wished to die with Tao Tie, ensuring the demon's destruction. The compassionate Bai Yaoyao hesitated, unable to strike him. Master Yuan Yi, with his remaining strength, lunged onto her sword, proclaiming he would "die with Taotie!" and urging her to kill him before Tao Tie grew to "full form." This tragic scene was witnessed by Qi Xiao, who rushed in at that very moment, shouting, "Master!"
