Swords of Legends Episode 5 Recap
> Swords of Legends Recap
After Reverend Ziyin rescued Lingyue and brought him back to Tianyong City, he healed Lingyue's severe injuries, depleting nearly a century of his own cultivation in the process. Head Reverend Hansu then discussed the recent masked attack on the city with Ziyin, expressing his intention to hand Tu Su over to Youdu to prevent him from endangering Tianyong City. Tu Su then burst in, offering himself for execution by Ziyin.
Ziyin, scolding Tu Su for demeaning himself, proposed to Head Reverend Hansu that Tu Su be confined to the forbidden area for three years, using its spiritual energy to suppress the growth of the sword spirit within him. Head Reverend Hansu agreed to the confinement but insisted on punishing Tu Su. Ziyin then interceded on Tu Su's behalf, and Head Reverend Hansu eventually dropped the matter.
Fu Qu and Qing Xue learned that Tu Su was to be confined for three years for injuring Lingyue. Qing Xue ran to meet Tu Su as he was being escorted by Ziyin to the forbidden area. They exchanged a distant glance before Ziyin advised Tu Su to forget his past, and Tu Su walked straight into the forbidden area. Qing Xue attempted to follow but was stopped by Shao Gong, who urged her not to disturb Tu Su.
Qing Xue vowed to find a way to help him. Ziyin sealed Tu Su within a cave, stipulating that only Lingyue could approach him during his three years of cultivation and reflection. Soon after, Youdu Granny and Qing Xue arrived, seeking Reverend Ziyin to inquire about the Sword of Burning Solitude and express their intention to reclaim it. Head Reverend Hansu assured them he would protect the sword well.
Youdu Granny wanted to see Ziyin but was told he was in seclusion. Hansu stated clearly that he would give them a satisfactory answer. Granny had no choice but to leave with Qing Xue. As Qing Xue left, she looked back at Tianyong City, silently vowing to find a way to suppress the malevolent energy of the Sword of Burning Solitude. Shao Gong visited Tu Su, announcing his decision to leave Tianyong City.
He felt the city was not his place and intended to visit his hometown before embarking on a journey, promising to potentially reunite with Tu Su later. Tu Su, concerned about harming others, was content to stay. The two friends promised to meet again. Shortly after Shao Gong left the mountain, Lei Yan, the leader of Qingyutan, forced Shao Gong to join his sect by threatening Shao Gong's servant.
During the three years of Tu Su's confinement, he diligently cultivated to suppress the malevolent energy of the Sword of Burning Solitude. Qing Xue also diligently studied immortal arts to find a method to suppress it. Sometimes, when Tu Su rested, fragments of past memories would resurface, causing the malevolent energy within him to surge. He could only suppress it through self-harm. Lingyue discovered Tu Su harming himself and, heartbroken, helped him bandage his wounds.
Lingyue then gave Tu Su a sword sheath crafted from spiritual iron to help suppress the Sword of Burning Solitude's malevolent energy. Upon sheathing the sword, Tu Su found its malevolent energy significantly subdued. After the three-year period, Lingyue and Fu Qu petitioned Head Reverend Hansu to release Tu Su from the forbidden area.
Unable to resist their combined pleas, Hansu agreed, but imposed three strict conditions on Lingyue: if Tu Su showed any signs of abnormality, he must immediately be returned to confinement. Lingyue accepted. Lingyue then brought the released Tu Su to the dining hall, where his fellow disciples' attitudes remained unchanged. Fu Qu brought Tu Su a meal she had personally prepared, which provoked the jealousy of Ling Duan, who then came to provoke Tu Su.
Lingyue intervened and sent Ling Duan away. Later, Zhao Lin and other disciples discussed Tu Su in private, with Zhao Lin spreading rumors that Head Reverend Hansu intended to marry Fu Qu to the next Head Reverend, and since Fu Qu was so kind to Tu Su, Tu Su might be the next Head Reverend. Ling Duan, overhearing their malicious gossip about Tu Su being a monster and warning Fu Qu to stay away from him, became enraged.
Tu Su sat in the back mountain, playing a tune on a leaf, thinking of Qing Xue and Shao Gong, missing them deeply. Ah Xiang, his bird, flew to him, and Tu Su wondered if he would ever see them again. Ah Xiang flew away without a word. Inside Qingyutan, Shao Gong successfully refined a plague-curing elixir and instructed his subordinates to deliver it to Xinghua Village.
Lei Yan then urged him to refine the "Ascension Cloud Elixir," but Shao Gong made excuses, asking him to wait. Lei Yan departed in frustration. Later, several alchemy apprentices gossiped about Shao Gong. Upon the arrival of Shao Gong's maid, Su Jin, they fell silent. Su Jin dismissed them and brought items to Shao Gong. Maid Tong served Shao Gong, who confided that Lei Yan was insatiable and that he would not refine the elixir for him.
Maid Tong also spoke of the unpredictability of fate, but Shao Gong scoffed at the idea of destiny. Seeing Maid Tong's attentive care, Shao Gong advised her not to overexert herself and to let Su Jin handle the tasks. Maid Tong, however, expressed concern that Su Jin might be a spy sent by Lei Yan. Su Jin, who had just entered and overheard, deliberately picked a quarrel with Maid Tong.
Shao Gong changed the subject, and Su Jin, eager to please, brought him nourishing tonic. Su Jin later reported to Lei Yan about monitoring Shao Gong, stating she found no abnormalities. Lei Yan, noting her consistent reports, suspected she was deliberately protecting Shao Gong. Su Jin hastily explained, badmouthing Maid Tong, and claimed she knew how to win Shao Gong's heart. Shao Gong, drinking alone and playing the zither, reminisced about his beloved Xunfang.
Overcome with emotion, a woman appeared and danced before him. Shao Gong mistakenly believed it was Xunfang and was overjoyed, but then discovered it was Su Jin in disguise. Enraged, he smashed the zither and stormed off. In her sorrow, Su Jin discovered a Dragon Scale that Shao Gong had dropped within the broken zither.
Qian Shang met Shao Gong on the rooftop, advising him not to be angry and informing him that the "Jade Cross" had reappeared in the human world. Shao Gong, knowing the Jade Cross could revive spirits, eagerly asked about its location. Qian Shang said he didn't know but suggested checking the Jiangdong area, where the news originated. Shao Gong was thrilled and planned to leave Qingyutan the next day, arranging to meet Qian Shang in the back mountain.
The next morning, Shao Gong was assisting Maid Tong as he prepared to leave. Su Jin returned his repaired zither and asked where he was going. Shao Gong told her to inform Lei Yan of his departure. Su Jin pleaded with him not to leave, but Shao Gong remained cold and departed with Maid Tong. Su Jin, heartbroken and clutching the Dragon Scale, believed Shao Gong would eventually return for her.
Meanwhile, Tu Su was cleaning the Heavenly Staircase when Fu Qu brought him steamed buns. Tu Su initially refused, but seeing her distressed expression, he accepted. They chatted, and Fu Qu encouraged him to speak his mind instead of bottling things up, to which Tu Su nodded. Ling Duan then appeared, ruining the mood, insulting Tu Su by calling him a monster and warning Fu Qu to stay away, his words vicious. Tu Su silently endured and left.
While practicing sword, Tu Su was disturbed by Ling Duan's words, and his power became uncontrollable. Lingyue came to check on his condition and found that the malevolent energy in his body had greatly increased.
