Swords of Legends Episode 48 Recap
> Swords of Legends Recap
Qingxue, using her identity as a spiritual maiden and the combined power of all Youdu priests, successfully summons Nuwa to learn about the past of the Sword of Burning Solitude. Nuwa reveals to Tusu the history of Taizi Changqin, explaining that the sword spirit within the Sword of Burning Solitude is one half of Taizi Changqin's immortal spirit, while Shaogong (also named Ouyang Shaogong) is the other half that broke free.
Shaogong destroyed the entire Wumeng Linggu clan intending to merge with the sword spirit in the Sword of Burning Solitude, but his plan was thwarted when Xiuning introduced the sword spirit into Tusu's body. Tusu then realizes that Shaogong is indeed the other half of Taizi Changqin's immortal spirit.
Nuwa informs Tusu that Shaogong's spiritual power has been gradually weakening over a thousand years, and he faces dissipation within a few years if he fails to merge with Tusu's half of the immortal spirit. Shaogong's goal is to reclaim his other half and later appears, accusing Tusu of taking it and showing disdain for human lives.
Tusu, in turn, criticizes Shaogong for his lack of compassion as an immortal spirit and declares his intent to fulfill his promise to Qingxue by reclaiming the other half of the immortal spirit and defeating Shaogong. To defeat Shaogong, Nuwa reveals there is only one way: Tusu must lift the seal on the Sword of Burning Solitude's evil energy, allowing him to fully merge with the sword spirit and gain immense power.
Nuwa clarifies that while Tusu's Tianyong City cultivation can control the evil energy, as a mortal, he will not be able to withstand such immense spiritual power and will die within three days of the seal being opened, due to the dissipation of his spiritual energy. This method is one of mutual destruction, but Nuwa regrets there is no other way.
She notes that the gods' powers are dwindling, preventing intervention in mortal affairs, leaving Tusu to save the world, though she believes there might be hope due to unknown human strength. Despite the dire consequences, Tusu, unwilling to let the people of Qinchaun suffer and determined to save more people, resolutely decides to remove the seal and face Shaogong. Qingxue is deeply saddened and emotional upon hearing Nuwa's revelation, interrupting the summoning ritual.
After being advised by Grandma to calm down, Qingxue regains control and resummoned Nuwa, who confirmed there was no other alternative. Realizing her efforts could not save Tusu, and unable to change his resolute mind, Qingxue returns to his side. She encourages him with a smile, which warms his heart, affirming her belief in his victory and assuring him of her and their friends' support.
Grandma, who earlier comforted Qingxue, wishes her safe return as Qingxue decides to accompany Tusu on his final journey. Tusu expresses a wish to be Han Yunxi again and speak with his mother. Qingxue helps him fulfill this by bringing him to Youdu, the place where souls gather. There, Tusu sees Xiuning's soul. Although Xiuning cannot see or feel Tusu, she faintly hears someone calling "mother."
She then recounts her decision to introduce the Sword of Burning Solitude's spirit into Yunxi's body, expressing deep regret for not fulfilling her motherly duties or providing Yunxi with much care. Despite this, she affirms that she would not regret her choice even if time could be reversed, before departing with her guilt, resolving Tusu's lingering regrets regarding his mother. Tusu is deeply moved watching his mother's soul leave. Tusu returns to Qingxue's room where she is making mud dolls.
Qingxue explains the Youdu custom of exchanging mud dolls, which symbolizes two people being together forever. With tears in her eyes, Qingxue tells Tusu about an ancient Youdu technique for resurrection: if lovers are driven by longing, they can pass through the long river of time, scattering their souls across the land, waiting for their beloved to find them.
If they cannot reverse the outcome of Tusu's soul dissipating, she hopes he will remain in the world and wait for her to find him, promising that she will definitely find him so they will never be separated. Tusu embraces Qingxue, rests her on his shoulder, and solemnly promises to wait for her. Qingxue cries in his arms, expressing her wishes for them to fulfill together, and Tusu quietly listens, holding her tears in his heart.
Meanwhile, Shaogong returns to Penglai, having used the Jade Cross to conjure it from the turbulent sea. Recalling his past separation from Xun Fang, he declares he has found a method for resurrection and intends to revive the entire island of Penglai. Lansheng and Xiangling wait in a town by the East Sea for Tusu and his companions. Worried about Shaogong's next scheme, they are reminded by Xiangling of a master blacksmith Tusu mentioned.
They visit Master Yao's shop to inquire about traveling to Penglai. Master Yao initially dismisses their "heroic dreams" due to their youth, but Lansheng emotionally persuades him. Master Yao then uses a magical artifact to project a large screen and issue a hero's call, asking Lansheng and Xiangling to return home and promising to notify them of any news.
Subsequently, various heroes gather outside the blacksmith shop in response to the call, but none are willing to venture across the sea. Lansheng spots Yin Qianshang among the crowd, who introduces Xiang Tianxiao and Yan Mei to them, with Yan Mei being particularly captivated by Xiangling.
