Tree Grandpa revealed to Xiang Ling her origins, stating he didn't know if her parents were alive but that the current Qingqiu King was her paternal uncle, meaning she would need to travel overseas to find him for more information. Meanwhile, Tu Su was heartbroken after witnessing his mother, Xiu Ning, seemingly dissipate. Qing Xue, concerned for Tu Su, sought answers from Youdu Granny, learning that there was no such thing as "Shu Ming Dan."

Instead, there existed a parasitic worm called Jiao Ming, whose effects were eerily similar: it transformed people into sun-craving "corpse puppets" that could not speak and would disintegrate upon exposure to sunlight. Qing Xue urged Tu Su to face this reality, fearing he would harm himself by dwelling on Xiu Ning's condition, but Tu Su vehemently insisted on staying with her, even attempting to send Qing Xue away. Despite her sadness, Qing Xue steadfastly remained by his side.

One night, while Tu Su slept, Xiu Ning, in her Jiao Ming form, walked out into the sunlight and tragically disintegrated. Tu Su, filled with profound self-reproach for inadvertently causing his mother's body to dissipate while trying to revive her, was overcome by an uncontrollable resentment, triggering a surge of malevolent energy within him.

At this critical moment, Ling Duan, having previously set Tree Grandpa on fire to protect Xiang Ling and subsequently capturing both Xiang Ling and Lan Sheng, arrived at Wu Meng Valley to provoke Tu Su. Tu Su, already emotionally unstable and enraged, was further stimulated, and the ancient Sword of Burning Solitude seized control of his mind. Becoming berserk and indiscriminately hostile, Tu Su first struck down Qing Xue and Lingyue.

Ling Duan then rashly challenged the raging Tu Su, who, wielding the Sword of Burning Solitude and drawing upon his inherent powerful demonic energy, brutally defeated Ling Duan, leaving the newly-converted, half-baked demon bleeding and unable to move. Xiang Ling and Lan Sheng rushed forward to embrace Tu Su, but he violently pushed them away and attempted to strike them with the sword. Lingyue bravely intervened to protect Lan Sheng but was also knocked to the ground.

Seeing the dire situation, Qing Xue courageously blocked Tu Su's attack on Lingyue, gripping the Sword of Burning Solitude and desperately trying to awaken his consciousness. Torn between his malevolent fury and an unwillingness to harm Qing Xue, Tu Su recoiled, attempting to end his own life with the sword. Fortunately, Ziyin arrived just in time to stop Tu Su and calm him. Qing Xue reiterated the details of Jiao Ming to Tu Su.

Although Tu Su still wished for his mother's revival, he could not bear the thought of her existing as a mere corpse puppet. He resolved to personally destroy Xiu Ning's Jiao Ming form when it reformed that night. Ziyin imparted a self-created martial art to Tu Su to help suppress his malevolent energy. Ziyin also noted that besides the two distinct demonic energies, there was also a mysterious spiritual energy within Tu Su.

Upon seeing Qing Xue silently position herself behind Tu Su, Ziyin understood the source of the spiritual energy and smiled. Qing Xue inquired if combining Youdu's methods could eliminate the malevolent energy, to which Ziyin, acknowledging the challenge, suggested they return to Tianyong City to find a solution. Tu Su boldly refused to return to Tianyong City, stating he had already learned his fate from Qianyu on Yaoshan and preferred to wander freely instead of wasting time.

Ziyin, reminded of a cherished old friend, agreed to Tu Su's decision, and Tu Su expressed his gratitude. Before a Nuwa statue, Ziyin publicly condemned Ling Duan's evil deeds. Lingyue suggested that the sect leader should handle Ling Duan, but Ziyin revealed he had been granted full authority. He proceeded to cripple Ling Duan's martial arts and expelled him from Tianyong City.

Afterward, Lan Sheng complained about Lingyue's departure without a word and expressed a desire to speak with Tu Su, but Xiang Ling stopped him, noting Tu Su's somber mood. They discussed Ling Duan's actions, expressed pity for Tu Su, and questioned the authenticity of the medicine Shao Gong had provided.

Tu Su, filled with deep regret over his mother becoming a Jiao Ming that dissolved by day and reformed by night, stood before the Nuwa statue, accompanied by Qing Xue, Lan Sheng, and Xiang Ling, who wondered how he would face Xiu Ning. As night fell, the dissipated Jiao Ming reformed into Xiu Ning. Despite his immense reluctance and profound sorrow, Tu Su steeled himself, lit a fire, and watched Xiu Ning's face slowly vanish.

Xiang Ling and Lan Sheng attempted to comfort Tu Su, who then declared his intention to seek out Shao Gong for answers. Meanwhile, Shao Gong returned to Qin Chuan, where he met Ru Qin. He also visited Tong Yi, who inquired about the fake Xun Fang and Qing Yu Tan. Shao Gong confessed that Xun Fang was indeed an imposter and that Qing Yu Tan no longer existed.

Tong Yi attempted to persuade Shao Gong to abandon his obsession, but he dismissed her counsel and departed. Shao Gong promised Ru Qin that he would stay in Qin Chuan with her; Ru Qin blushed, while Shao Gong's expression turned subtly evil. Tong Yi was left uncertain whether Shao Gong's changed demeanor and decision to stay in Qin Chuan were for the better.

Ru Qin, however, expressed happiness that Shao Gong had seen through the fake Xun Fang and seemingly moved past his past affections, hoping he would remain in Qin Chuan. After the recent turmoil subsided, Qing Xue playfully teased Tu Su about his earlier malevolent energy outburst. Tu Su warned her to flee if such an event occurred again, but Qing Xue adamantly refused to abandon him.

Tu Su then hesitantly asked if she would still accept him if he were to be completely consumed by malevolent energy. Unaware of the profound implications of his words, Qing Xue simply stated that Tu Su would always be Tu Su to her. With a more open mind, Tu Su decided to fully explore the world before potentially merging with his malevolent energy, shyly inviting Qing Xue to join him.

Qing Xue was comforted by his endearing proposal but said she needed time to consider, expressing a desire to travel together once his malevolent energy was removed. They sealed this with a pinky promise. Tu Su then returned to Jiangdu and asked Yin Qianshang if he had heard of Jiao Ming, also reminding him of their shared past of drinking in Wu Meng Valley.

Yin Qianshang began to suspect he might be Feng Guangmo but could not recall anything after the battle in Wu Meng Valley. He expressed disbelief that Shao Gong could be the one who harmed him, a sentiment Tu Su shared. Qing Xue urged Yin Qianshang to return to Youdu so Granny could treat him. Yin Qianshang, regretting his past mistakes, asked Qing Xue to tell him about Feng Guangmo.

Qing Xue recounted Feng Guangmo's mission to reinforce the Sword of Burning Solitude's seal in Wu Meng Valley. Convinced that Shao Gong held all the answers, Yin Qianshang decided to confront him alone.
