Swords of Legends Episode 44 Recap
> Swords of Legends Recap
Driven by an intense desire to revive his mother, Xiuning, Tusu returned to Wumeng Linggu, where her remains lay. Recalling how Xiuning had once infused her evil aura into him to save his life, and how Ziyin Zhenren later rescued him, Tusu hoped his current actions would be correct. He administered Shaogong's Shuming Elixir to Xiuning, who subsequently woke up, much to Tusu's joy and renewed hope for the future.
Meanwhile, Lansheng and Lingyue discussed Xiuning's unconscious state, with Lansheng questioning if she could not be exposed to sunlight, prompting Qingxue and Xiangling to chide him. However, Xiuning remained dazed, silent, and refused to eat or drink, showing no real reaction. Both Tusu and Qingxue observed her abnormality. Qingxue, knowledgeable from her studies in Youdu, understood that Xiuning had only been physically revived; her spirit was lost, rendering her merely an empty shell, and her spirit would never return.
Qingxue feared telling Tusu this truth, worried he would be devastated and disappointed. Tusu, meanwhile, was hopeful, believing Xiuning would eventually recover her senses, which Qingxue suggested might still be dormant after years of slumber. Tusu desired for Shaogong to refine more Shuming Elixir to revive other clan members.
He also asked Qingxue if she would live with him and Xiuning as a family, but Qingxue, bound by her identity as a Youdu Spirit Maiden, stated she would need to consult the Youdu Granny, to which Tusu agreed to wait for her answer. Xiuning consistently attempted to walk towards sunlight. Shaogong had previously warned that she must not encounter sunlight, compelling Tusu to constantly watch over her.
Qingxue asked Tusu if Shaogong knew about the Shuming Elixir's side effects, and Tusu confirmed he did not. Qingxue suggested Tusu send Ah Xiang to Shaogong to inquire about any unknown side effects. Lingyue also sent a message to Shaogong, awaiting his reply regarding Xiuning's condition. While Tusu tirelessly guarded his silent mother, Qingxue worried about his health, as he constantly waited for Xiuning to speak. Tusu, however, remained firm in his belief that Xiuning would fully awaken.
Meanwhile, Yin Qianchang returned to Qingyutan, seeking Xun Fang to discuss matters. Xun Fang attempted to evade him, claiming she needed to see Shaogong, but Yin Qianchang attacked her. During their fight, Xun Fang's combat techniques revealed her to be using Qingyutan martial arts, prompting Yin Qianchang to point out flaws in her style. He deduced that she was Jin Niang impersonating Xun Fang. Exposed, Jin Niang stopped hiding and engaged Yin Qianchang in a desperate fight for her life.
Yin Qianchang, seeking revenge for Huashang, unleashed a powerful move. As he prepared to deliver a finishing blow, he was struck by a severe headache and was forced to retreat. Jin Niang, now aware that Yin Qianchang knew her secret, immediately sought out Shaogong to test his loyalty. She feigned asking about Yin Qianchang's whereabouts and learned that Shaogong and Yin Qianchang had quarreled and were no longer on speaking terms, which reassured her.
Shaogong then affectionately held her hand, recounting their vows from Penglai to be immortal together, and offered her a refined elixir. Deceived by his sweet words, Jin Niang willingly consumed the elixir, which immediately reverted her to her true Jin Niang appearance. Shaogong then turned cold towards her. Around the same time, at the Fang family residence, Tong Yi awakened under Ruqin's careful ministrations and revealed the truth about the fake Xun Fang, expressing concern for Shaogong's safety.
Ruqin promptly dispatched someone to inform Shaogong. In another thread, Xiangling, happy for Tusu's mother's revival but saddened by her own missing parents, expressed her desire to find them. Lansheng comforted her, offering to be like a parent to her. Xiangling then led Lansheng to the Tree Grandfather, who was in a deep sleep. Lansheng woke the old tree demon with kicks and scolding.
Tree Grandfather, after being scratched by Lansheng, recounted Xiangling's parents' love story, revealing her father was a nine-tailed fox from Qing Qiu, and the current Qing Qiu ruler was Xiangling's paternal uncle. He told Xiangling that Qing Qiu was located overseas and urged Lansheng to care for her. Lansheng later informed Lingyue of his plan to travel overseas to Qing Qiu to help Xiangling find her father.
Lingyue advised him to first return to Qin Chuan to settle things with Ruqin, but Lansheng was hesitant about facing her. Despite Lingyue's suggestion that he was better suited for Qin Chuan, Lansheng was determined to go to Qing Qiu and asked Lingyue to bring Ruqin to visit him there if he had time, after which Lingyue departed.
Back with Tusu and Xiuning, Tusu continued to faithfully guard his silent mother, hoping she would speak to him, even reminiscing about her strict childhood guidance and expressing regret. Qingxue, heartbroken by Tusu's deteriorating health, felt compelled to tell him the truth about Xiuning's condition. However, Tusu refused to hear any discouraging words, leading to an argument. In a fit of anger, Tusu told Qingxue to return to her Youdu home, and she ran off crying.
Though Tusu often hurt Qingxue's feelings, she always cried, then smiled, and faced him again. Later, Tusu, regretting his outburst, spoke to Xiuning about Qingxue, believing his mother would like her, and was about to apologize. Qingxue then appeared, bringing him food and smiling as if nothing had happened, which only deepened Tusu's guilt. Qingxue also made a video call to the Youdu Granny, informing her of Xiuning's revival.
The Granny found it unbelievable and began consulting ancient texts for answers, cautioning Qingxue against any rash actions. As dawn approached, Tusu, exhausted from his vigil, finally fell asleep. Xiuning seized the opportunity and walked out of the room. Tusu awoke to find her gone and frantically searched for her. Qingxue arrived, about to share the Youdu Granny's discoveries from the ancient texts, but Tusu, desperate to find Xiuning, interrupted her. They soon spotted Xiuning walking towards a Nuwa statue.
Tusu and Qingxue rushed towards her, but as the first ray of dawn touched Xiuning, she shattered into thousands of light crystals. Tusu lunged forward, but there was nothing left for him to grasp.
