Swords of Legends Episode 37 Recap
> Swords of Legends Recap
Qingxue suffered from internal injuries that caused her spiritual power to dissipate, leading her to faint. Heiyao, who had been following her, rescued her and brought her to an inn, where he sought a doctor. The doctor advised that Qingxue was extremely weak and required a potent tonic, specifically mentioning the hard-to-find ingredient dragon bone.
Heiyao then consulted Master Yao, a sword-casting master, who used a magic artifact to locate potential sources of dragon bone in Qinchuan, Jiangdu, and Tianyong City, though the prices were prohibitively high. To gather funds for Qingxue's medicine, Heiyao resorted to stealing and was pursued. His escape led him to hide in Tusu's room, which was how Tusu discovered Qingxue's critical condition. Tusu had previously felt it was best for Qingxue not to accompany him for her own good.
When Tusu examined Qingxue, Heiyao angrily accused Tusu of being ungrateful and harming his "unwed wife." Qingxue, upon waking, prevented Tusu from using his own cultivation to heal her. Tusu then took Qingxue to Master Yao for a diagnosis. Master Yao confirmed her spiritual power was indeed dissipating and warned she would die without a rare treasure or a demon's inner core to replenish it.
Determined, Tusu asked Master Yao where to find such demons, but Master Yao deliberately withheld the information. During this visit, Yanmei, a local hoodlum, arrived to collect protection fees from Master Yao. As Tusu lacked funds for the consultation fee, Master Yao tasked him with driving Yanmei off, which Tusu swiftly accomplished. Yanmei fled, only to return later with his "Big Brother," Xiang Tianxiao, a boat captain, seeking revenge. However, Tusu easily overpowered them.
Despite being "bullied," Xiang Tianxiao attempted to recruit Tusu into their group, but upon learning Tusu's intention to find demons, both Yanmei and Xiang Tianxiao quickly fled. Tusu also inquired about the location of Yaoshan from Xiang Tianxiao, who feigned ignorance and made a hasty retreat. Back at the inn, Tusu returned to diligently care for Qingxue, while Heiyao was sidelined.
When Tusu called out to Heiyao, Heiyao mistakenly feared Tusu wanted his own inner core and cursed Tusu, accusing him of ingratitude. Tusu, however, simply instructed Heiyao to continue looking after Qingxue and departed to embark on his quest for the necessary treasure or inner core. Qingxue gently thanked Heiyao for his help, to which he simply apologized and ran off.
Meanwhile, Lingyue regarded Lansheng as his younger brother and, at Lansheng's persistent requests, taught him some basic spells for self-defense. Lingyue encouraged Lansheng to return to Jiangdu with his sister, Ruqin, expressing concern that Lansheng's continued travels with them caused Ruqin distress. Lingyue directly stated that Lansheng's aptitude for cultivation was insufficient for significant achievement.
Lansheng, however, resisted Ruqin's control, longed to dictate his own life, and wished to venture out for a free and independent existence rather than remaining in Qinchuan for business as his sister had arranged. Lansheng, who held vague memories of his childhood, also wished for Lingyue to show him the same affection he showed Tusu. Lansheng inquired about Lingyue's past, learning that Lingyue had been adopted at seven or eight years old.
While Tusu and his companion Ah Xiang were searching for demons, Tusu encountered a woman named Qiu Xinrui (Rui'er) trapped by an enchantment in a forest. Qiu Xinrui explained she was searching for her fiancé, Zhuo Yunfei, at the Jinyuan Tea Garden in Yushan. Observing Tusu's need for funds to treat Qingxue, she offered him a generous reward if he would protect her and help her find Zhuo Yunfei.
Tusu agreed, sending Ah Xiang back to inform Qingxue and others, while he proceeded to protect Qiu Xinrui. Although not formally engaged to Zhuo Yunfei, Qiu Xinrui firmly believed he loved her, citing their meeting and connection to hibiscus flowers as the reason he named his tea garden "Jinyuan." During their journey, Qiu Xinrui rested and shared details of her perceived romance with Zhuo Yunfei.
She also discussed relationships with Tusu, who, reflecting on his own girlfriend, Qingxue, realized how much Qingxue had done for him compared to his own efforts, leading to a somber mood. Tusu escorted Qiu Xinrui to the Jinyuan Tea Garden in Yushan, where they found Zhuo Yunfei.
Zhuo Yunfei, however, calmly and directly told Qiu Xinrui that he was getting married and asked her to leave, stating he could not officiate their (fabricated) wedding as he was busy preparing for his own. Qiu Xinrui, refusing to believe Zhuo Yunfei's impending marriage or his apparent disinterest, felt humiliated. She impulsively declared her intention to marry Tusu, requesting Zhuo Yunfei to officiate, before angrily storming off.
She then insisted Tusu stay and help her pursue Zhuo Yunfei, offering him further rewards to uncover the truth. Tusu agreed to investigate. During their conversation, Zhuo Yunfei asked Tusu to take good care of Qiu Xinrui. Tusu, speaking kindly on Qiu Xinrui's behalf, suggested Zhuo Yunfei was the most important person to her. Zhuo Yunfei responded that they both had their own destined partners.
Qiu Xinrui, who overheard this, confronted Zhuo Yunfei, but he rejected her once more and departed. Qiu Xinrui angrily summoned Tusu. Tusu sensed that Zhuo Yunfei might have a hidden reason for his actions. Upon hearing Tusu mention Qingxue, Qiu Xinrui, in a gesture of magnanimity, gave Tusu money, allowing him to return to Qingxue, while she resolved to stay and continue her efforts to win over Zhuo Yunfei.
