Tu Su and his companions found themselves in a transformed hallucination of Zixian Mountain Villa, which Hong Yu recognized as someone else's memory rather than their own hallucination. They chose not to awaken the Lan Sheng and Yue Yan they observed within this memory to see unfolding events. In this memory, Lan Sheng was known as Jin Lei, and Yue Yan as his junior sister, He Wenjun.
Jin Lei, having witnessed Ye Wenxian of Zixian Mountain Villa massacre his entire sect (Bishan sect, including his master) for a secret manual, resolved to destroy Zixian Mountain Villa in retaliation. He informed his junior sister, Wen Jun, that he planned to infiltrate the villa by participating in a martial arts competition to become the son-in-law of Ye Wenxian's daughter, Ye Chenxiang.
Wen Jun repeatedly begged him not to embark on this dangerous path, but Jin Lei, consumed by hatred, left her. Before his departure, she gave him the Qingyu Sinan Pendant. Jin Lei successfully won the martial arts competition and captured Ye Chenxiang's heart, pleasing Ye Wenxian. While carrying the Qingyu Sinan Pendant, Jin Lei suddenly transformed back into Lan Sheng. During this transformation, he acquired Jin Lei's and Wen Jun's memories and no longer wished to marry Ye Wenxian's daughter.
He rushed back to find Wen Jun, only to discover she had committed suicide in the ancestral hall. Seeing Wen Jun dead, his grief turned into intensified hatred. He transformed back into Jin Lei, vowing revenge. Qing Xue, Lingyue, and others observed these events, pondering how the Qingyu Sinan Pendant came to be associated with the Fang family.
After burying Wen Jun and mourning at her grave, Jin Lei, still consumed by hatred, left with his sword, despite calls from everyone for Lan Sheng to awaken. At Zixian Mountain Villa, during a grand banquet, Jin Lei poisoned the wine, causing Ye Wenxian and the guests to collapse and faint. Jin Lei appeared in red robes, announced his identity, and confronted Ye Chenxiang, who attempted to fight him.
He wounded her, and as she crawled to her father's side, a Jade Pendant fell out. Jin Lei prepared to deliver the final blow, killing everyone in Zixian Mountain Villa. The hallucination then ended, leaving Ye Chenxiang's vengeful spirit seeking revenge on Lan Sheng. In the ruined Zixian Mountain Villa, Lan Sheng encountered the vengeful spirit of Ye Chenxiang, who, due to the Jade Pendant and her hatred for Jin Lei, had remained there for a hundred years.
She sought revenge on Lan Sheng, mistaking him for Jin Lei. Lan Sheng tried to explain he was not Jin Lei. Lingyue, Qing Xue, and Tu Su intervened. Qing Xue attempted to persuade Ye Chenxiang to release her hatred, but the spirit persisted. Tu Su engaged her in combat, while Lan Sheng recited a rebirth mantra, eventually convincing Ye Chenxiang that he was not Jin Lei.
Ye Chenxiang, seeing Lan Sheng's Qingyu Sinan Pendant, realized Jin Lei still remembered Wen Jun. Lan Sheng revealed that Jin Lei had committed suicide at Wen Jun's grave. Ye Chenxiang, now realizing her lifelong resentment had vanished, finally departed, leaving the Jade Pendant on the ground. Lan Sheng stated his willingness to fulfill her wishes in Jin Lei's stead. As the group prepared to leave Zixian Mountain Villa, Lei Yan and his followers ambushed them, initiating a large-scale confrontation.
Lan Sheng, clutching the Jade Pendant, hid and observed the battle. Lei Yan attempted to snatch the Jade Pendant from Lan Sheng. Xiang Ling intervened, engaging Lei Yan in a fierce struggle and sacrificing her inner core to confront him. This act created a massive shockwave, knocking everyone to the ground. In the ensuing chaos, Shao Gong seized the Jade Pendant, and Lei Yan made his escape.
Lan Sheng cradled the gravely wounded Xiang Ling, who reverted to her fox true form, and was overcome with sorrow. Lingyue informed Lan Sheng that Xiang Ling's inner core had been destroyed. Lingyue and Tu Su attempted to heal her, but their efforts were unsuccessful. However, the Qingyu Sinan Pendant on Lan Sheng suddenly reacted, miraculously reviving Xiang Ling. Separately, Hong Yu and Qing Xue were gathering herbs when a fake Xun Fang secretly followed them.
They apprehended her, and the fake Xun Fang claimed to possess magic and wished to assist, to which Hong Yu agreed. After gathering the herbs, Hong Yu treated an injury on the fake Xun Fang's hand, sustained while picking herbs, and detected unusual medicinal power within her. The fake Xun Fang attributed this to years of medication following the Penglai disaster, stating she concealed it to spare Shao Gong worry.
She then expressed her emotional anxieties to Hong Yu and Qing Xue, seeking their sympathy. Following a discussion, Tu Su, Lingyue, and their companions decided to retreat to Jiangdu for safety. Back in Jiangdu, Ru Qin and Yue Yan, concerned about Lan Sheng, witnessed Shao Gong's return with the fake Xun Fang and Lan Sheng. Lan Sheng, quiet, returned to his room with the little fox Xiang Ling. Ru Qin sent Yue Yan to check on him.
Shao Gong updated Ru Qin on the group's circumstances. Ru Qin apologized to the fake Xun Fang for not having adequately cared for her earlier. The fake Xun Fang, feigning graciousness, requested Shao Gong to accompany her to her room, but as she passed Ru Qin, she revealed a sinister smile.
