Ling Duan and his disciples continued to face misfortunes. They experienced public humiliation at Hua Man Building when Hua Shang splashed them with water. Later, Lan Sheng encountered them at an inn, where he subtly mixed a powerful laxative, Ban Bu Bin, into their food. Xiang Ling added her own magical enhancements to the potion, ensuring Ling Duan and his group would suffer severe and prolonged digestive distress.
This elaborate prank was their payback for Ling Duan's past bullying of Tu Su. The plan worked perfectly, rendering Ling Duan's group utterly incapacitated and unable to pursue Tu Su. Meanwhile, Qing Xue found Tu Su and enthusiastically recounted the details of Ling Duan's miserable state, finding much amusement in their suffering. Despite her satisfaction, Qing Xue recognized that such pranks were not a sustainable solution.
She approached Shao Gong and Jin Niang, inquiring if they had any leads on the whereabouts of the Yu Heng. Shao Gong then directly confronted Jin Niang, stating his intention to leave if no information regarding Yu Heng was found. To prevent his departure, Jin Niang quickly agreed to perform another divination, retreating to her private room. Inside, Jin Niang used a mysterious Candle Dragon Scale to perform her divination. Shao Gong, growing impatient, entered the room.
Startled, Jin Niang concealed the scale and feigned unconsciousness. As Shao Gong rushed to her side, she confessed her feelings for him and offered to accompany him. However, Shao Gong gently rejected her. Jin Niang, undeterred, implied she wouldn't be able to divine the Yu Heng's location if he left, but Shao Gong remained firm and departed. Later, Shao Gong informed Tu Su of their impending departure.
Elsewhere, Qing Xue was with Yin Qian Shang, who was teaching her to drink. Unaccustomed to alcohol, she quickly became intoxicated. Tu Su arrived and playfully scolded Yin Qian Shang for "corrupting a child." Separately, Jin Niang was talking with Hua Xiang but suddenly felt unwell and dismissed her. Yin Qian Shang then gave Hua Xiang some newly brewed wine, claiming it was for Qing Xue, which made Hua Xiang visibly jealous.
He quickly reassured her that he and Qing Xue were merely friends. Hua Xiang then asked Yin Qian Shang if he remembered anything from his past. Attempting to recall, Yin Qian Shang suffered a sudden headache and decided to stop trying. Hua Xiang then brought up Jin Niang and Shao Gong's recent disagreement, prompting Yin Qian Shang to speculate that Shao Gong might not stay much longer.
When Hua Xiang expressed sadness at the thought of him leaving, Yin Qian Shang immediately began to charm her. Black Yao later reported to Qing Xue about his investigation into Yin Qian Shang. When Tu Su approached, Black Yao, with ill intent, called him a "Tian Sha Gu Xing" (Void Star), implying he was destined to be alone and bring misfortune to his family. A pained Tu Su walked away.
Black Yao then pulled Qing Xue aside, encouraging her to continue investigating Yin Qian Shang. Soon after, Black Yao led Yin Qian Shang to a spot, ostensibly for monster hunting. This was a trap set by Qing Xue to test Yin Qian Shang's identity. She used her You Du magic, and Yin Qian Shang, surprised by the attack, accidentally injured her. He immediately released her, and both he and Black Yao urged her to return and treat her wound.
Fearing Tu Su's worry if he saw her injury, Qing Xue decided to hide for a couple of days before returning. Unable to find either Yin Qian Shang or Qing Xue, Tu Su and Shao Gong split up to search. Black Yao, finding Tu Su, deceitfully told him that Qing Xue had left the city and suggested Tu Su should not try to keep her.
He maliciously insinuated that Qing Xue's departure was because she didn't want to be with Tu Su and advised him not to force her. Meanwhile, Qing Xue and Yin Qian Shang continued their conversation. Qing Xue spoke about her search for her elder brother and showed him a bracelet he had given her. Upon seeing it, Yin Qian Shang experienced a severe, painful headache.
Qing Xue realized he had suffered a past head injury with lingering effects and expressed her concern for him. He, in turn, told her not to worry so much. Later, Black Yao asked Hua Xiang for a loan, claiming he needed money to marry Qing Xue. Overhearing this, Tu Su discreetly followed Black Yao and found Qing Xue. Witnessing Black Yao's attentive care toward Qing Xue, Tu Su fell into contemplation.
Yin Qian Shang, noticing Tu Su's somber mood, correctly guessed it was about Qing Xue. He advised Tu Su not to let romantic worries trouble him, encouraging him to embrace a more carefree life. Just then, Hua Xiang appeared, interrupting Yin Qian Shang's philosophical musings. She demanded he marry her, threatening to find someone else if he refused. Yin Qian Shang immediately rushed to chase after her, attempting to appease her.
Still hoping to prevent Shao Gong's departure, Jin Niang attempted another divination for Yu Heng using the Candle Dragon Scale, but once more, it yielded no results. Xiang Ling, witnessing Jin Niang's ritual, spoke about Jin Niang's Candle Dragon Scale, and believed it could help her find her mother. Lan Sheng suggested they should steal it. Xiang Ling successfully took the scale, and when Lan Sheng used it in conjunction with his Jade Pendant, he was suddenly shown vivid scenes from his own childhood.
