Zhuang Yuan knew that Huang Yingzi had always liked Jiang Yi. Seeing that the two of them had been circling each other for over a decade with no result, he was anxious and encouraged Huang Yingzi to try hard and confess. Huang Yingzi couldn't help but laugh wryly. Zhuang Yuan had also had a crush on Fang Mingyu for a long time, but this boy didn't even have the courage to look a girl in the eye properly.

When Huang Yingzi got home, she received a call from Jiang Yi. Hearing him hesitate on the phone, Huang Yingzi chuckled and said she knew the purpose of his call was to spend New Year's Eve together. Now that they were all in their respective careers, Huang Yingzi really wanted everyone to spend New Year's Eve together and play that gift-giving game again. Fang Mingyu didn't agree at first, but later her boyfriend had to work overtime that day to drink with his boss and had no time to accompany her. Therefore, Fang Mingyu also joined them for New Year's Eve. Huang Yingzi started playing the game this time, she had something in mind.

She wrote Zhuang Yuan's name on four slips of paper, clearly creating an opportunity for him to confess. Fang Mingyu drew a slip and had no idea what Huang Yingzi was thinking. She opened the gift Zhuang Yuan gave her; it was a bracelet with the year 2012 engraved on it. Evidently, this gift had been treasured for a long time.

Back then, Zhuang Yuan had worked hard to get into the university Fang Mingyu dreamed of, even willing to lower his standards. However, Fang Mingyu didn't get into her first choice and had to choose her second-choice school. On the first Sunday after school started, Zhuang Yuan went to visit Fang Mingyu at her school, only to see another girl by her side. The two girls were arm in arm, clearly looking like girlfriends.

Recalling the little things from high school with Zhuang Yuan, she still felt warmth. At that time, Zhuang Yuan would often save the delicious things from his shop for her and would coax her when she was unhappy. It seemed like he only had her in his eyes. During the gift exchange segment, Jiang Yi claimed that the slip he drew had Huang Yingzi's name on it.

Huang Yingzi's gift was a wish card, promising to do her best to fulfill one of Jiang Yi's wishes anytime, anywhere. Jiang Yi's gift to Zhuang Yuan was a puzzle made from their group photo. As for the gift Fang Mingyu was giving to Huang Yingzi, it was something Jiang Yi had given Huang Yingzi over a decade ago – a crystal ball with a whale inside.

Back then, when he heard Huang Yingzi talking about "whale fall," he was deeply moved and meticulously searched for a crystal ball containing a whale. That day, all four received gifts they liked. Jiang Yi walked Huang Yingzi back. On the way, he couldn't help but recall how Huang Yingzi had written many letters to Ding Ye in high school, but they were like a stone sinking into the sea.

To make Huang Yingzi happy, Jiang Yi had imitated Ding Ye's handwriting and replied to Huang Yingzi's letter. Seeing Huang Yingzi excited for a long time because of it made him especially happy at school.
