The next day, Daoming Si, still clearly unwell, approached Shancai at school. He handed her a coat, telling her it wasn't a gift but her own, which she had forgotten that morning. When Shancai hesitated, Daoming Si took it upon himself to put the coat on her. This public display fueled existing rumors about Shancai and Daoming Si dating, which quickly spread on QQ Space. Other students, envious of Shancai, whispered about her.
Xin Hui openly stated her strong dislike for Shancai but paradoxically expressed her intention to become friends with her, specifically because of Shancai's connection to F4. Despite Shancai's protests that she wasn't dating Daoming Si, Xin Hui, along with Baihe, extended an invitation for Shancai and Li Zhen to attend a "Lady's Night" party that evening, subtly pressuring Shancai to accept. Meanwhile, Meizuo and Ximen teased Daoming Si about his apparent declaration of ownership over Shancai.
Daoming Si, with a sense of pride, responded that he needed to announce his affection to the world to ensure no one else would try to win her over. That night, Shancai and Li Zhen went to the bar. Feeling uncomfortable with the wild atmosphere, they chose to simply drink juice. Xin Hui and Baihe soon joined them, aggressively questioning Shancai about her relationship with Daoming Si.
When Shancai denied they were dating, Xin Hui pointed to the widespread rumors on QQ Space and challenged her to introduce Daoming Si to them if he wasn't her boyfriend. Shancai, who found her fruit juice particularly tasty, soon began to feel unusually hot and dizzy. Heading to the restroom, she stumbled upon a pianist named Thomas. In her disoriented state, she mistook him for Huaze Lei, sat beside him, confessed, "I like you," and fell asleep on his shoulder.
Unbeknownst to Shancai, Xin Hui and Baihe were observing and took photos, commenting on Shancai's "active flirting." The next morning, Shancai woke up in a strange hotel room. She found a note with a phone number from Thomas, who had written that she was drunk and should call him after waking. Confused, Shancai wondered aloud, "Who is Thomas?"
She pieced together fragmented memories of the previous night, including Baihe and Xin Hui taking selfies with Thomas, and her dancing with him, leading her to worry about what might have transpired. Later at school, Shancai called Thomas, who informed her he was already on campus, having gotten lost while trying to find her. She quickly arranged to meet him at the campus restaurant.
Moments later, Daoming Si confronted Shancai about her lateness to class, having been informed of her schedule by Ximen. He then presented her with a new, warm coat, telling her it was getting cold and showing his continued care. At the restaurant, Shancai encountered Daoming Si, Meizuo, and Ximen. Daoming Si insisted she join them for lunch, ordering an excessive amount of food and playfully threatening to "fatten her up." As they ate, Thomas contacted her, announcing his imminent arrival.
Panicked, Shancai hastily told him not to enter the restaurant and rushed out to meet him, leaving Daoming Si to suspect she was seeing another man, for which he issued a stern warning. Outside, Shancai confronted Thomas, asking if he had done anything to her. Thomas calmly explained that after she vomited, he cleaned her up and, at her friends' request, took her to a hotel as he didn't know her address, leaving her to rest alone.
He then referenced her drunken "I like you" confession, asking if it was sincere and if she would be his girlfriend. Shancai quickly dismissed it as a mistake, stating she had mistaken him for someone else. Just then, Daoming Si appeared. Shancai fabricated a story that Thomas was merely asking for directions, and Thomas, understanding her predicament, cleverly played along.
Daoming Si, however, fluent in French, sternly told Thomas in his own language to get lost and stay away from Shancai, whom he declared "my woman." Thomas, visibly disappointed, left. Daoming Si then proudly told Shancai what he had said, but she angrily rebuked him, asserting they were not in a relationship. Daoming Si was deeply hurt by her words, asking in disbelief, "Aren't we in a relationship?"
Shortly after, compromising photos of Shancai and Thomas, depicting them dancing and in close proximity at the bar, were plastered across the school's online forums. Students eagerly shared the images, and malicious gossip about Shancai spending the night with Thomas spread rapidly. While Li Zhen expressed disbelief, other students presented photographic evidence to validate their claims. When Shancai tried to confront Xin Hui and Baihe, they vehemently denied posting the photos, deflecting blame.
Chen Qinghe tried to urge Shancai to publicly clarify the situation, but Shancai remained silent. Determined to find answers, Shancai went back to the bar, only to be told by a staff member that Thomas was merely a substitute and his whereabouts were unknown. Meanwhile, Meizuo and Ximen grew concerned by Daoming Si's unusually prolonged and vigorous swimming, recognizing it as a sign of his deep distress.
When they saw the damning photos online, they immediately pushed Daoming Si into the pool to prevent him from seeing the images and claimed his phone was still being repaired. They then sought out Shancai, who tearfully confessed that she had been very drunk, had danced with Thomas, but insisted that nothing had happened.
After some investigation, Meizuo and Ximen concluded that Thomas was not a permanent Shanghai resident and had likely left the country, suggesting that Shancai had been deliberately framed. Shancai, devastated by the online vitriol, resolved to clear her name and not be a coward. The next day at school was brutal; students openly shunned and insulted her, calling her "shameless" and "a disgrace to Mingde."
In class, she was targeted with sarcastic remarks about her English skills, implying she was too close to "foreign teachers." Two art students then "accidentally" spilled paint on her, further humiliating her. Meanwhile, Daoming Si, having discovered the photos of Shancai and Thomas on Meizuo and Ximen's computer, became enraged. He found Shancai and confronted her, demanding to know why she had lied about Thomas merely asking for directions.
Shancai tearfully admitted that she had lied about his identity but vehemently maintained her innocence, asserting that nothing had happened and the photos were a misunderstanding. She pleaded with Daoming Si, telling him that she didn't care if the entire world misunderstood her, as long as he believed her. However, Daoming Si, heartbroken and feeling betrayed, walked away. Later that day, a distraught Daoming Si was found drinking alone by the river.
Meizuo and Ximen, concerned he might do something reckless, stayed by his side, complaining about the mosquitoes as they watched over him. They even half-jokingly discussed knocking him out to get him home. Despite their efforts, Daoming Si managed to slip away into the pouring rain. Standing alone, he was lost in thought, remembering his previous rainy date with Shancai. As the rain continued, Li Zhen, passing by, saw him and showed her concern with an umbrella. In his drunken haze, Daoming Si mistook Li Zhen for Shancai, pulling her into a tight embrace and kissing her.
