Daoming Si, having regained his usual spirit, confidently told his housekeeper that he was about to do the "stupidest thing" in his life for love. He then went to Huaze Lei's home to declare his intentions. Daoming Si informed Lei that Shancai was his and accepted Lei's challenge for fair competition. Lei smiled, but Daoming Si, unwavering, stated that he would never give up on Shancai, even if his mother, Lei, or the entire world told him to.
He was determined to win her heart. Lei responded by saying that Shancai should be the one to make her own choice. After Daoming Si left, Huaze Lei called Shancai and asked her to turn off her phone for forty-eight hours, explaining it was to avoid "unnecessary harassment." Though initially hesitant, Shancai complied, trusting Lei. Lei then separately called Xiaoyou, asking her to keep Shancai occupied for as long as possible, without revealing his true motive.
Meanwhile, Daoming Si frantically searched for Shancai. He tried calling her, but her phone was off. He went to her school, only to find she was absent, and then to her workplace, where he was told she had already gone home. Growing desperate, he searched her neighborhood and eventually waited outside her house late into the night. He even confronted Qinghe about Shancai's whereabouts, proclaiming he would find her no matter where she hid.
Unaware of Daoming Si's frantic search, Shancai spent the day with Xiaoyou, helping her find a venue for a tea party. At Xiaoyou's home, Shancai reflected on seeing Xiaoyou's happy family and questioned whether living only for oneself was truly meaningful if it caused pain to others. Xiaoyou later mentioned Lei's strange request to keep Shancai busy, but Shancai couldn't understand his reasons. The next day, Daoming Si learned Shancai was at Xiaoyou's house.
He rushed there, but Xiaoyou's mother informed him that another boy, Huaze Lei, had already picked Shancai up. Daoming Si and Shancai once again missed each other. As Shancai walked with Huaze Lei, she asked him why he made her turn off her phone. Lei told her that Daoming Si intended to pursue her again and asked her what she thought.
Shancai replied that she had made her decision to let go of the relationship, acknowledging it was difficult but believing there was no point in blindly holding on when the outcome was already clear. Lei reflected on his own past regret of not holding onto his feelings for Jing, emphasizing that "just holding on a little longer" can change outcomes and prevent lifelong regrets. He reminded Shancai that Daoming Si’s love for her, though sometimes childish, was sincere and persistent.
Later, at a bus stop, Daoming Si finally caught up with Shancai and Huaze Lei as Shancai was heading to work. Daoming Si pleaded with Shancai not to leave him, confessing he couldn't live without her. He told her he thought of her constantly, even in his dreams, and begged her to tell him what he needed to do to continue loving her.
Huaze Lei interrupted, questioning if Daoming Si could truly bring Shancai happiness if his love only brought her trouble. Daoming Si insisted he would make her happy. Shancai, her heart aching, silently boarded the bus with Lei, despite Daoming Si's desperate cries of her name as he chased the bus down the street. Lei advised Shancai not to give Daoming Si false hope if she was truly decided.
However, Shancai abruptly asked the bus driver to stop, realizing she wanted to try. She quickly got off the bus and ran back towards Daoming Si. But before they could properly talk, police officers appeared and took Shancai away. At the police station, they learned that Daoming Si, in his frantic search for her, had filed a false report claiming his "meteor pattern necklace," which Shancai possessed, had been stolen.
Daoming Si immediately clarified the misunderstanding, apologizing to the police, who let them go with a warning. Outside the station, Shancai scolded Daoming Si for his reckless action, which almost gave her a criminal record. Daoming Si retorted that he had been driven to desperation because her phone was off and she was nowhere to be found. Touched by his persistence, Shancai decided she wanted to "hold on to the happiness of the moment," despite the possibility of future regrets.
They went to a ramen shop, where Daoming Si held her hand tightly, fearing she might disappear again. He then abruptly suggested they go to London together to confront his mother. Shancai was taken aback and made excuses about not wanting to travel to a strange country where she had no friends, her poor English, and disliking Western food.
Frustrated by her reluctance, Daoming Si questioned why she had gotten off the bus for him if she didn't want to go. Shancai struggled to articulate her true feelings, only managing to say she "just wanted to get off." Disappointed, Daoming Si left, and Shancai, unable to express herself, could only utter a soft "Good night." She later reflected on the difficulty of expressing her emotions directly and realized she needed to be clearer with him.
Daoming Si then went to confront Huaze Lei again, telling him that Shancai was his girlfriend and Lei should stop bothering her. Lei, however, revealed that his recent actions of pursuing Shancai were a deliberate "play" orchestrated to push Daoming Si to face his true feelings and fight for her. He admitted he was worried about Daoming Si's hesitation and wanted them to understand each other better, assuring Daoming Si that he cared deeply for both him and Shancai.
With their friendship reaffirmed, Lei instructed Daoming Si to take good care of Shancai, hinting at his imminent departure. Daoming Si, realizing Lei's good intentions, agreed to continue their brotherhood. Later that evening, Huaze Lei had dinner with Ximen and Meizuo. He informed them that he was returning to Taiwan the following afternoon due to family matters and requested that they not come to the airport to see him off.
Just before his flight, Lei sent a voice message to Shancai, explaining that his pursuit of her had been a pretense to make Daoming Si confront his love. He apologized for any trouble he caused but assured her that his concern for her was always genuine. He then said goodbye, stating he wouldn't be back for a while.
Upon hearing the message, Shancai rushed to the rooftop, looking at an airplane in the sky as she tearfully said her farewells to Lei, thanking him for everything he had done for her. Shancai returned home, feeling a sense of loss over Lei's departure and once again grappling with her inability to clearly express her feelings to Daoming Si. She wondered if he truly understood her intentions, fearing their continued misunderstandings. At the same time, Daoming Si also found himself troubled, contemplating his own complicated emotions regarding Shancai.
