Meteor Garden 2018 Episode 37 Recap
> Meteor Garden 2018 Recap
Shancai, fearing the lingering awkwardness, planned to return to her room, but Dao Ming Si called out to her, asking for a hug before she left. She didn't refuse, finding his embrace a warm comfort in the deep night. Later, in an internal monologue, Shancai admitted she couldn't sleep all night after their hug, a new feeling compared to when she worked as a cleaner at his house. The next morning, Shancai instinctively prepared two portions of breakfast, wondering why.
She decided to take one to Dao Ming Si, internally fretting over his "foolish" and childlike need for care. Upon reaching his place, she found the door open and he was nowhere to be seen, having already left for school. At school, Meizuo and Ximen were astonished to learn Dao Ming Si had moved into such a rundown place for Shancai.
Dao Ming Si, however, dismissed their concerns, claiming he enjoyed "fighting with cockroaches" and that all hardships were a form of happiness when it came to Shancai, whom he affectionately called his "little white pig." After Dao Ming Si left to catch up on sleep, Shancai, who had been listening from nearby, was deeply moved by his sacrifice and felt a pang of guilt.
Her relief quickly turned to shock when she overheard Ximen casually telling Meizuo that he had taken Xiaoyou to a hotel. Shancai immediately confronted Ximen, sternly warning him to stop if he was merely toying with Xiaoyou's feelings. Ximen, unfazed, used Qinghe's unrequited love for Shancai as a counter-example, suggesting that just as Shancai wouldn't return Qinghe's affections, he didn't reciprocate Xiaoyou's. He claimed Xiaoyou was "just a friend" to him and assured Shancai not to worry.
When Shancai pressed him for a promise not to hurt Xiaoyou, Ximen declared she had no right to demand one, but ambiguously stated he "won't do anything." His evasive answer left Shancai confused and deeply worried for her friend. That night, on a rainy evening, Shancai found herself consumed by a strange mix of longing and worry for Dao Ming Si, unable to stop thinking about him. She checked his door, and not finding him, she became restless.
Later, hearing a noise, she cautiously investigated, only to find Dao Ming Si sitting outside his room, bothered by buzzing insects. She scolded him for enduring such discomfort in the old house, reminding him they came from different worlds and their relationship might not end well. She confessed that her feelings for him were deepening, making her increasingly uneasy, and called both herself and him "fools" for their predicament.
Dao Ming Si then revealed his secret: he had been sneaking out of his own home every night at 1 AM and returning at 5 AM, taking taxis to avoid his bodyguards and mother, all just to protect her. He downplayed his efforts as minor hardship, but his unwavering dedication brought tears to Shancai's eyes, and she felt deeply embarrassed by her earlier outburst.
Realizing his restlessness, Shancai offered to let him sleep in her bed, reassuring him she would only stay until he fell asleep. Dao Ming Si was initially shocked but eventually agreed. As they lay in bed, Shancai playfully urged him to imagine her as his mother and even attempted to sing him a lullaby. Dao Ming Si, however, pulled her into a tight hug, refusing to let go when she protested.
In her heart, Shancai silently thanked him for his efforts to bridge their different worlds, confessing her inner turmoil and fear about the many challenges ahead, even as she had resolved to overcome them for him. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep. Dao Ming Si, watching her, was filled with joy and affectionately called her a "silly girl" for sleeping so easily, while privately admitting his struggle to control himself.
Dao Ming Zhuang returned home to find it swarming with bodyguards. Ms. Yu informed her that their mother, Dao Ming Feng, had sent them to monitor Dao Ming Si, who had been sneaking out every night to see Shancai. Enraged that her mother was repeating her past tactics to separate lovers, Dao Ming Zhuang rushed upstairs to confront Dao Ming Si, but found he had already escaped through his window.
Realizing the situation, she and Ms. Yu cleverly conspired to fool the bodyguards, loudly pretending Dao Ming Si was still in his room. Meanwhile, Shancai returned from school to find Dao Ming Si's bodyguards staking out her apartment. She quickly hid and called Dao Ming Si, warning him. They met in a nearby alley.
Unable to go to their friends' houses, which were likely also monitored, Shancai suggested a hotel, but Dao Ming Si dismissed the idea due to ID requirements that would expose them. Instead, he led Shancai to his family mansion, explaining that "the most dangerous place is the safest place." He instructed her to sneak in through a back door, accessible only by a secret F4 key, while he distracted the bodyguards.
Shancai likened the plan to "infiltrating a military base," and their coordinated efforts allowed her to successfully enter the heavily guarded house. Inside his room, after Shancai had changed into his oversized clothes, Dao Ming Si gently pulled her onto the bed, asking if she was having second thoughts about their relationship due to the secrecy and difficulties.
Shancai admitted to feeling overwhelmed and like a fugitive but confessed that his unwavering persistence and "foolishness" had deeply touched her, solidifying her resolve to face any challenges from his mother, Dao Ming Feng. As Dao Ming Si, moved by her words, leaned in to kiss her, Dao Ming Zhuang suddenly burst into the room. Misinterpreting the scene, she angrily accused Dao Ming Si of forcing Shancai.
Shancai quickly clarified the misunderstanding, leading Dao Ming Zhuang to an overjoyed realization of their rapid romantic progress. After offering her blessings and a stern warning to Dao Ming Si about cherishing Shancai, she declared she would handle the bodyguards and playfully told them to "continue." After Dao Ming Zhuang left, Dao Ming Si eagerly asked Shancai about their future intimacy.
Shancai cheekily suggested "five years," initially shocking him, but he quickly agreed to wait, professing his lifelong commitment to her. Shancai reflected on his multifaceted personality and resolved to love every aspect of him. The next day, while working at a milk tea shop, Shancai carefully asked Xiaoyou about her night with Ximen, specifically whether anything "happened" at the hotel. Xiaoyou insisted nothing did, but remarked she thought love naturally meant giving everything.
Shancai, relieved but still concerned, advised Xiaoyou to be friends with Ximen but not pursue a relationship, warning that he's a playboy who won't commit and will only hurt her. Xiaoyou, however, rebuffed Shancai's warnings, questioning her understanding of Ximen and even retorting with Ximen's own words about privacy. Shancai apologized, clarifying she only wanted to protect her friend.
Xiaoyou, however, remained resolute, declaring she had "decided" on her path with Ximen, even suggesting Shancai shouldn't be surprised if Ximen treats her as a stranger one day. That night, Xiaoyou went to a bar and watched Ximen flirting with another girl. She herself was approached by a man who insisted on buying her a Long Island Iced Tea, claiming he noticed her the moment she walked in and assumed she was looking for company.
Xiaoyou, having never been to a bar before, was slightly overwhelmed but accepted his company and the drink. While Ximen continued to feign indifference with his date, his eyes repeatedly drifted towards Xiaoyou. When Xiaoyou, seemingly intoxicated, agreed to leave with the stranger after one more drink, Ximen could no longer contain himself. He abruptly intervened, pushing the man aside, and quickly downed the drink meant for Xiaoyou, declaring that it was none of the stranger's business.
