Daoming Si returned home in a fit of rage, smashing a glass. He felt his mother, Daoming Feng, treated him like a fugitive and was constantly monitoring Shancai, which he found intolerable. Ms. Yu, hearing his complaints, explained that this was Daoming Feng's usual tactic, one she had previously used against Daoming Si's sister, Zhuang.
Ms. Yu recounted how she had once secretly helped a heartbroken Zhuang escape confinement to meet her boyfriend, only for the boyfriend to abandon Zhuang due to Daoming Feng's threats and coercion. He even informed Daoming Feng of their meeting spot, leading to Zhuang's forced return home and a subsequent loveless marriage. Daoming Si was disgusted by the boyfriend's cowardice but also became fearful; if even strong-willed Zhuang succumbed to their mother's pressure, what fate awaited him and Shancai?
He worried Shancai might eventually give up on him. Ms. Yu, however, urged him not to be so disheartened, reminding him that Shancai's confidence in their relationship would largely stem from his own unwavering determination. He needed to be Shancai's steadfast support for their love to be indestructible. Meanwhile, Shancai limped home, her hands and feet grazed from evading Daoming Si's bodyguards. Daoming Si sent her a voice message, anxious to know if she was safe.
To spare him worry, she briefly replied, falsely claiming to be unharmed. Unsatisfied by the lack of her voice, Daoming Si sent another message, threatening to come find her if she didn't send a voice reply. Shancai quickly recorded a message, reassuring him she was home and uninjured. The next day, at her part-time job at the milk tea shop, You sincerely apologized to Shancai for colluding with Ximen and Meizuo to trick her.
Shancai, no longer angry, was then shocked to discover that You had developed deep and earnest feelings for Ximen. Shancai worried that Ximen, known as a carefree playboy, would inevitably hurt You. You, however, confessed that she was aware of Ximen's nature and his probable disinterest in her, yet she couldn't control her emotions and wanted to get closer to him despite the risk of heartbreak.
Later, as Shancai was about to leave work, Daoming Si appeared, wearing a rather conspicuous "disguise." He claimed he was returning her shoes, but quickly admitted it was merely an excuse to see her. Seeing him, Shancai's heart soared, and she realized the irresistible force of love, understanding You's feelings more deeply. The two sought a quieter place to talk. Daoming Si confessed his love explicitly and pressed Shancai for a clear response.
He expressed his insecurity, noting that despite their relationship, she had never directly said "I like you," making him feel like she could leave him at any moment. Shancai understood his need for clarity but struggled to utter the words. Their conversation was interrupted by a call from Ximen, inviting them and You to a "Republic-era tea party" at his home. Shancai agreed, insisting they arrive separately to maintain their relationship's secrecy.
At Ximen's house, where Xiaozizi and Meizuo were already present, Xiaozizi encouraged Shancai to change into a cheongsam. As Shancai entered the dressing room, she overheard You say "I can't," and upon seeing Ximen's close proximity to You, she stormed in, fearing Ximen was up to no good. It turned out Ximen was simply helping You button her cheongsam, skillfully demonstrating his expertise in wearing and adjusting the traditional dress.
Shancai, after being fitted into a beautiful pink cheongsam that pleased Daoming Si, engaged in lighthearted banter with Ximen, who playfully teased her about her "thick" waist and compared Daoming Si's cheongsam to that of a "waiter in Hengdian." The party began, and as the friends ate, drank, and played games, Shancai found herself increasingly inebriated. However, before she could, You bravely declared her love for Ximen. Ximen, maintaining his playboy facade, rejected You, telling her he was not a "good man" and she should find someone who could protect her. You, unconvinced by his act, resolved to continue pursuing him. Shancai expressed confusion over Ximen's harsh rejection, but Daoming Si defended him, arguing that it was honest and decisive to end a relationship that he knew was impossible, saving You from further pain.
This ignited another argument between Daoming Si and Shancai regarding their relationship's public status. Shancai, still terrified of Daoming Feng's interference, feared that revealing their love would harm their friends, including You and Qinghe. Daoming Si, frustrated by her continued hesitation, angrily declared he was going home. As everyone looked on in confusion, Shancai, gathering all her courage, finally shouted, "Daoming Si, I like you!"
She then announced to everyone that she and Daoming Si had been dating for some time, apologizing for keeping it a secret. Overjoyed, Daoming Si embraced her, as their friends cheered and applauded. The next day, Shancai went to the milk tea shop to find You, who, overwhelmed with emotion, cried tears of joy for Shancai and Daoming Si, imploring Shancai never to disappear alone again, regardless of future difficulties. That evening, You waited outside Ximen's house until late.
When he finally arrived, she apologized for the scene at the party, but Ximen, seeing her continued hope, reiterated that a relationship between them was impossible, citing the complications of dating someone so close to F4. Undeterred, You boldly reminded him of his previous playful remarks about dating, hugging, and kissing, suggesting he honor his words. She then turned and ran off, leaving Ximen stunned by her newfound assertiveness. A few days later, Huaze Lei returned, reuniting F4.
They celebrated his return with red wine, and a proud Daoming Si, eager to share his happiness, playfully pestered Huaze Lei to ask about his recent well-being, hinting at his successful relationship with Shancai.
