Meizuo humorously noted the complexities of women, while Ximen pressed Daoming Si about his progress with Shancai.
Daoming Si’s vague and contradictory responses—a mix of happiness, frustration, and confusion—led Ximen to joke about his "layered" communication style. Daoming Si dismissed their attempts to intervene, claiming some matters were beyond their comprehension. Ximen, styling himself as a "love expert," offered an elaborate metaphor comparing women to violins requiring precise handling, but Meizuo found it unhelpful, especially as Daoming Si had already walked away, uninterested in their theories. Shancai found Daoming Si and led him to the rooftop.
Despite her resolve to confess her love and formally begin their relationship, the words caught in her throat. Daoming Si, impatient and hungry, criticized her hesitation, while she, in turn, blamed his loud and aggressive demeanor for making her timid. To shift the mood, Shancai offered him a homemade bento, expressing uncertainty if her home-cooked meal would suit his refined palate. Daoming Si accepted and ate, even inquiring about the "jellyfish-like" enoki mushroom bacon roll.
Shancai then mentioned seeing him and Xiaozizi laughing at a cafe, admitting she thought he would start dating Xiaozizi. Daoming Si quickly dismissed the idea, stating emphatically that he would never date someone he didn't genuinely like, implicitly confirming his deep affection for Shancai. Emboldened, Shancai directly asked if he would date her. Daoming Si was startled by her straightforwardness, almost choking on his food, but Shancai insisted she was serious.
Overjoyed by her proposal, Daoming Si was then surprised when Shancai requested they keep their relationship a secret for the time being, even from Ximen and Meizuo. She explained her fear that his mother, Daoming Feng, would interfere and cause another painful separation, recalling their past breakup. Daoming Si, preferring an open relationship, was frustrated by her demand but eventually agreed, declaring his willingness to abandon his family name and everything for her if necessary.
Shancai, touched, reassured him he didn't need to make such sacrifices and suggested they would deal with any consequences if their relationship was discovered. Alone on the rooftop, Daoming Si attempted to kiss Shancai, but she nervously pushed him away, citing her rapidly beating heart and overwhelming emotions, which he found endearing. They decided to take matters into their own hands to foster their relationship. Ximen went to the milk tea shop where Xiaoyou worked. Her boss, appreciative of Ximen's past help with a promotion, allowed Xiaoyou to leave early with him. Meanwhile, Shancai was walking home from school when she sensed she was being followed. Her intuition proved correct as several men in black suits pursued her.
She managed to escape and coincidentally ran into Meizuo, who helped her evade the pursuers. Meizuo identified the men as Daoming Si's bodyguards, likely sent by Daoming Feng. Shancai expressed concern about telling Daoming Si, fearing it would provoke a conflict between him and his mother. Meizuo agreed, noting that Daoming Si tended to act impulsively when it came to Shancai.
Deciding it was unsafe to go home, Shancai opted to stay at Xiaoyou's, only for Meizuo to reluctantly inform her that Xiaoyou was currently at Ximen's house for "tea." Alarmed by Ximen's playboy reputation and Xiaoyou's naivety, Shancai immediately called Xiaoyou, urging her not to enter Ximen's home. However, Xiaoyou replied that she had just arrived and quickly hung up. Panicked, Shancai demanded that Meizuo take her to Ximen's house at once.
At Ximen's house, Xiaoyou was brought in on his and Meizuo's plan: to use her to lure Shancai over and trap her with Daoming Si to fix their relationship. When Ximen expressed concern that Daoming Feng might retaliate against Xiaoyou's family once Daoming Si and Shancai officially reconciled, Xiaoyou, appearing much stronger and more confident, dismissed these worries.
She declared herself an adult capable of supporting her family through any hardship, just as Shancai had done, and credited Ximen with helping her become stronger, no longer the "little You who cried by the roadside." However, as Xiaoyou's words hinted at deeper feelings, Ximen subtly created distance by having another woman join them, reiterating his gratitude for Xiaoyou's help and promising assistance for her family, before leaving with the other woman, making it clear their relationship was strictly platonic.
Meanwhile, a frantic Shancai arrived at Ximen’s house and was directed by Meizuo towards a dark room. She rushed in, calling out for Xiaoyou, only to find Daoming Si tied to a chair. He explained that Ximen and Meizuo had bound him. Realizing Xiaoyou was not there, Shancai shouted for Ximen and Meizuo to open the locked door, but Daoming Si informed her that she had been tricked and that Xiaoyou was part of the elaborate scheme.
Trapped, Shancai frantically searched for another exit, but Daoming Si calmly noted the door was the only way out. He seemed content with their predicament, simply happy to be with her. Despite Shancai's initial anxiety, Daoming Si was amused by the situation, glad for the alone time. He affectionately kissed her, and she reciprocated. He teased her about her height during their kisses, while she playfully retorted about his "giraffe-like" stature.
Shancai reflected on how their love story was far from ordinary. She then shared a vulnerable memory from Canada, recalling how she got lost in a heavy snowstorm while searching for Xiaoyou, almost getting eaten by a wolf, and how Daoming Si had miraculously appeared to save her. He gently promised he would always come to her rescue because of his deep love for her.
Despite this heartwarming exchange, Shancai still felt their happiness was fragile, like "standing on a piece of ice floating on the sea." While they were talking, Daoming Feng received an investigation report from Shanghai, confirming that Daoming Si and Shancai were together. Subsequently, Shancai revealed to Daoming Si that she had been followed by his family's bodyguards earlier that day. He was shocked and scolded her for not telling him immediately, asserting that such matters should be faced together.
Shancai countered that telling him would only complicate things and hasten his mother's intervention. Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by a phone call to Daoming Si, informing him that his bodyguards were looking for him and had been let into the building. Panicked, Daoming Si immediately extinguished the lights. He declared that he knew his mother best and was the only one who could protect Shancai, urging her to escape with him to London.
Shancai, however, refused to abandon her friends, especially Xiaoyou and Qinghe. With the bodyguards pounding on the door, Daoming Si remembered a window in the bathroom and helped Shancai escape through it. When the bodyguards finally broke into the room, they found Daoming Si fully clothed in the bathtub, nonchalantly pretending to wash his hair. He rudely rebuffed their questions, labeling them as his mother's "informants" and threatening severe consequences if they dared to interfere with him again. Upon returning home, Daoming Si remained furious about the day's events.
