Jiang Jun found Shen Xin packing her belongings and inquired about her resignation. Shen Xin revealed that Xiang Ding had been fired the day the SKL price leak incident surfaced, and she had remained for a few extra days to finalize the handover. Jiang Jun pressed her, asking why she didn't wait for her return and resigned so abruptly, arguing that there was still an opportunity to prove their innocence.

Shen Xin explained that she and Xiang Ding were responsible for the SKL case, and someone had to take accountability. She recalled a previous conversation with Du Lei, where he ominously reminded her of the industry rule that "A nobody always takes the blame." He had suggested making Jiang Jun the scapegoat, citing her absence on leave during the leak. Shen Xin vehemently refused, insisting Jiang Jun was innocent.

Du Lei then gave her an ultimatum: if she resigned immediately, he could announce it was for "personal reasons," but if she hesitated, he would be unable to protect her. Understanding the coercion, Shen Xin chose to resign to shield Jiang Jun. She also told Jiang Jun that she wouldn't have continued at MH if Jiang Jun hadn't forgiven her in the past, and now felt she was incompatible with the company, needing to seek a better opportunity.

Jiang Jun expressed concern about her resigning without another job in the current market, but Shen Xin confidently reassured her. After receiving a call from the Administration Department, Shen Xin left, leaving Jiang Jun filled with worry. Du Lei reviewed MH’s impressive revenue data, noting a significant increase and profits that surpassed GE. Feeling a sense of accomplishment, he ignored an incoming call from Jiang Jun. Later that evening, Jiang Jun visited Du Lei’s office.

He feigned concern for her health, remarking that she had returned too soon from her leave. Jiang Jun expressed her belief in Shen Xin and Xiang Ding’s innocence regarding the SKL price leak and pleaded with Du Lei to grant them another chance to uncover the truth. Du Lei dismissed her concerns, stating he had already handed the case over to Qiao Na and it was no longer her responsibility.

He underscored the substantial financial losses the company incurred due to the leak and the unforgiving nature of the industry, reiterating that Shen Xin and Xiang Ding, directly or indirectly, bore the responsibility. Disheartened by his unyielding stance, Jiang Jun left, contemplating whether her steadfast principles were truly the only path. As she walked, Yuan Shuai called, scolding her for not answering and for always bottling up her emotions.

He reminded her that she now had a strong boyfriend to support her. Jiang Jun then confided in him about Shen Xin and Xiang Ding’s situation. Suddenly, Yuan Shuai appeared behind her, embracing her. He reassured her that he would always protect her, especially given her tendency to neglect meals when he wasn’t around. They then walked home together. At home, Jiang Jun remained deeply troubled by Shen Xin's predicament, feeling partially responsible for their resignations.

Yuan Shuai gently massaged her temples, urging her to rest. He clarified that he didn't oppose her ambition in her career and was proud of her achievements, but her health was paramount, and he would be heartbroken if she risked it for work. Jiang Jun expressed her appreciation for his care. Later, Yuan Shuai playfully reminded her he had already bought dog food, anticipating her forgetfulness.

He affectionately told her he enjoyed managing both their home and her career, finding happiness in her joy. Jiang Jun playfully called him "cunning" for making her feel like a lazy woman, but he reiterated that she was his "queen" and always would be. After Yuan Shuai fell asleep, Jiang Jun looked at him and quietly resolved to resign and become "Mrs. Yuan" once she had completed her current projects.

However, Yuan Shuai awoke to find Jiang Jun still working, noticing discrepancies in some project documents. He confronted her, accusing her of disregarding his concerns for her well-being. Jiang Jun explained that many projects were dependent on her completion, and she felt a strong sense of responsibility for the unfair dismissals of Shen Xin and Xiang Ding, insisting she could not simply wait.

Yuan Shuai countered that MH possessed its own robust investigative systems and accused her of arrogance for believing the company couldn’t function without her. Jiang Jun challenged him in return, asking if he would abandon his colleagues in a similar situation. She reaffirmed her intention to resign, but only after finishing her outstanding tasks. Growing exasperated, Yuan Shuai demanded she resign immediately so they could marry, promising to provide for her for the rest of her life.

Jiang Jun firmly rejected his demand, asserting her independence, her education, her capabilities, and her long-standing ability to support herself. She insisted on having her own life, responsibilities, and plans, requesting that he respect her autonomy. She then turned back to her work. Frustrated, Yuan Shuai declared he would no longer interfere with her decisions. Despite their argument, he later returned to find her asleep at her desk and gently covered her with a blanket.

The next morning, he prepared breakfast for her. Qiao Na arrived at the office to find Jia Yuanji performing a romantic song on his guitar, surrounded by a lavish display of roses he claimed to have picked himself. Annoyed, Qiao Na curtly told him the "show" was over and he should return to work. She chastised him for treating her home and now her workplace like a flower shop. She then summoned security to escort him out.

As he was being removed, Jia Yuanji loudly proclaimed his unwavering dedication, vowing never to give up and to wait for her indefinitely. Later, Jiang Jun approached Qiao Na, teasing her about blushing for the first time and suggesting she embrace love after being alone for so long. Qiao Na, in turn, playfully warned Jiang Jun not to get too spoiled by Yuan Shuai, lest she become overweight.

Jiang Jun overheard colleagues discussing how Shen Xin and Xiang Ding were struggling to secure new employment due to the damaging accusations of leaking company information. She promptly intervened, warning them against spreading baseless rumors. Bolstered by information from Qiao Na, who had discovered that only vice presidents and higher-ranking personnel had access to the sensitive SKL raw data, Jiang Jun realized that Shen Xin and Xiang Ding must have been wrongfully accused. She immediately went to Du Lei’s office.

Upon entering, Du Lei again expressed concern for her health. Jiang Jun insisted on discussing Shen Xin and Xiang Ding, informing him that her own comparison of the leaked data had revealed their innocence. Du Lei motioned for her to sit and then explained his predicament: the SKL chairman was a close college friend of MH's senior management, who were furious about the leak and pressured him to quickly identify someone to take responsibility.

Jiang Jun argued that as the project manager, she should bear the responsibility, but Du Lei adopted a more sympathetic tone, mentioning he had to drink excessively the previous day to convince SKL to accept the new price. He emphasized that the situation would have escalated if no one had stepped forward, and his actions were intended to protect Shen Xin from a more severe charge and to protect Jiang Jun.

Seemingly moved by his explanation, Jiang Jun silently accepted his version of events. Upset by negative online comments about her novel's romance and by Xiaochuan’s dismissive attitude, Xu Li decided to stage a scene of running away from home, but in her haste, she inadvertently left her phone behind. Unable to borrow a phone from strangers, she encountered Jia Yuanji, who initially mistook her for trying to flirt with him.

After she clarified her need to make a call, he reluctantly handed over his phone. She called Jiang Jun, informing her that she had run away from home, but Jiang Jun, preoccupied, instructed her to go to her apartment and quickly hung up. Realizing that going to Jiang Jun’s place would expose her to Xiaochuan, Xu Li decided against it.

She returned the phone to Jia Yuanji and they soon bonded over their shared romantic misfortunes, realizing they were both experiencing unrequited love. They agreed to get drunk together, with Xu Li offering to cover the cost. Over drinks, they commiserated about their relationship woes. Xu Li lamented Xiaochuan's comment about their love passing its "freshness period," while Jia Yuanji complained about Qiao Na's unresponsiveness.

Jia Yuanji then played a song he had written for Qiao Na, and Xu Li, impressed, offered to help him refine the lyrics in exchange for guitar lessons. Li Xiaochuan returned home to an empty house and, using his phone's location tracking feature, located Xu Li with Jia Yuanji, who was demonstrating guitar chords with his hand over hers. Enraged, Xiaochuan stormed over, shouting for Jia Yuanji to "Let go of her!"

Xu Li quickly tried to defuse the situation by claiming Jia Yuanji was a "book fan," but Xiaochuan dismissed this, reminding her that his research had revealed no male followers among her 108 fans. Thinking on her feet, Xu Li announced that Jia Yuanji was her "pursuer." Jia Yuanji, catching on, enthusiastically confirmed it. Xiaochuan, his jealousy fully ignited, angrily declared that he was Xu Li’s husband and threatened to beat Jia Yuanji if he didn't stay away.

He then took Xu Li's hand and told her, "Let's go." Xu Li, secretly delighted by Xiaochuan's possessive display, smiled and walked away with him. Back at their apartment, Yuan Shuai playfully urged Jiang Jun to "beg" him for the information he had promised. When she eventually did, he revealed what he had discovered: the SKL chairman had never demanded any dismissals from MH, contradicting Du Lei's earlier statements.

Yuan Shuai explained that Du Lei, despite knowing there was a less severe solution, deliberately forced Shen Xin and Xiang Ding to resign, likely because they had uncovered a secret that threatened him. Jiang Jun, however, recalled Du Lei’s compelling explanation about SKL’s demand for accountability and his supposed efforts to protect both Shen Xin and her. She expressed skepticism toward Yuan Shuai’s theory, citing Du Lei’s past assistance to her.

Yuan Shuai, growing increasingly frustrated, asked if she trusted Du Lei more than him. Jiang Jun clarified that it wasn't a matter of trust, but acknowledging Du Lei's help. Unable to contain his frustration, Yuan Shuai revealed a bombshell, accusing Du Lei of having an ulterior motive for helping her: "Because he likes you!"
