Seeing his father's face, he was flooded with childhood memories of strict discipline. Even high scores were met with physical punishment if they weren't perfect, leaving Du Lei with a look of fear.
When his father finally awoke, Du Lei began formally reporting on the company's current situation, noting that rumors about his father were affecting morale, but he had arranged for a face-to-face interview with a reporter to clear the air. His father, in a weak voice, asked him to come closer, claiming he couldn't hear well. Du Lei continued to recount the measures he had taken, assuring his father that he had stabilized the competition and would handle everything.
Unexpectedly, Du Lei's father softened, thanking him for helping the family through the crisis. Du Lei, cold and distant, insisted he wasn't helping his father but merely doing what he had to do.
