Xiling Jiuyao was concerned about the people of Qingshui Town. Chishui Fenglong reassured her that the townspeople had been properly resettled and could return after the war. They stayed in the Yu residence, a place with a refined atmosphere. Seeing familiar objects stirred Jiuyao’s memories, and the image of Tushan Jing surfaced again, causing her deep sorrow. Xiang Liu, keenly perceptive, silently stayed by her side. In chaotic times, emotions became even more precious.

Jiuyao’s bonds with Fenglong and Xiang Liu grew deeper as they weathered hardships together. In a tense conversation, Cang Xuan sternly questioned Fenglong’s reckless actions and tried to understand how he had fallen into Xiang Liu’s trap. Fenglong remained unusually silent, as if hiding something. Sensing this, Cang Xuan chose not to press further and instead gave him space to speak when ready.

Suddenly, the sky darkened, and Xiang Liu appeared like a ghost in the sky, shooting an arrow at Cang Xuan. In a critical moment, Fenglong stepped forward without hesitation and blocked the deadly arrow with his body. Xiang Liu then turned and left, leaving behind chaos and shock. Jiuyao was urgently called to treat Fenglong, but her expression grew more solemn by the minute.

She discovered the arrow was not only poisoned but had also been coated with Xiang Liu’s blood—a toxin she couldn’t neutralize. Fenglong’s condition deteriorated rapidly. Realizing he had little time left, he revealed to Cang Xuan that it was Chenrong Xinyue who had tried to assassinate Tushan Jing and begged him to forgive her.

He also confessed the real reason he abandoned Xiyan Mountain to protect Chenrong Mountain years ago: it was Tushan Jing’s strategy, though he had taken the credit. Cang Xuan was overwhelmed with mixed emotions. He was shocked by Fenglong’s betrayal but grateful for his honesty before death. He promised Fenglong to ensure Chenrong Xinyue would live safely and be honored in the Purple Gold Palace. After Fenglong’s death, the Chenrong rebel army launched a surprise attack.

Facing the sudden crisis, Cang Xuan decided to personally lead troops to repel the enemy. Meanwhile, Jiuyao, consumed by her anger and confusion toward Xiang Liu, went to the seaside and called out his name, demanding an explanation. Xiang Liu appeared, and they had a fierce confrontation. In the end, Jiuyao chose to repay Xiang Liu’s kindness with her own blood and collapsed from blood loss.

Xiang Liu caught her in his arms, kissed her wrist, his heart full of pain and regret. Jiuyao awoke in the warm embrace of Haoling Yi, who gently told her he had come with Rushou and offered to take her back to recover upon seeing her badly wounded. At the same time, Cang Xuan returned to Chenrong Mountain with Fenglong’s body to honor the fallen.

Though Chenrong Xinyue now held power as she had wished, the loss of her beloved brother left her inconsolable. She blamed herself and shattered her treasured jade flute—a memento of her bond with him. Now, she vowed to give her all, not just for herself, but for Chenrong Mountain and the Chishui clan, determined to become a wise and capable queen. After learning the truth about Tushan Jing, Cang Xuan was devastated and drowned his sorrows in alcohol.

He ordered his subordinates to find Tushan Jing at all costs, determined to confirm whether he was dead or alive. Haoling Yi safely returned Jiuyao to Yushan and then found Xiang Liu to question his intentions. It turned out Xiang Liu had quietly erased his image from Jiuyao’s Xingxing Mirror and admitted that the Heart-Linked Lovers Gu could not be undone. He was able to help Cang Xuan remove the Gu because Cang Xuan was not a willing host, but Jiuyao had planted it in herself willingly—so Xiang Liu was willing to endure the connection with no regret.
