Light Chaser Rescue Episode 9 Recap
> Light Chaser Rescue Recap
After a period of rigorous training, the team gathered in a circle, listening to Dapeng recount the history of Light Chaser Rescue. Ding Dingding, actively taking notes and collecting materials, inquired why some members used code names while others used their real names. Dapeng explained that the team's first members met on an online forum and grew accustomed to using their online aliases. When they eventually met in person, these online names stuck.
However, newer recruits adopted a more casual approach, some using their real names, some their online names, and others creating new code names. Miss Ruan, an older member, was an exception, always using her real name even online due to her straightforward nature. Meanwhile, Xiong Fei and other members exchanged contact information with new recruits. Falcon sought out Zhan Qingshan, bringing him clothes and food from Zhan Yan.
Zhan Qingshan measured the clothing, a smile inadvertently gracing his lips, clearly pleased that his daughter still thought of him. He acknowledged that his daughter cared for him, and he resolved to be more open and less rigid with her, recognizing the brevity of life and the importance of not wasting time. He also mentioned an upcoming meeting at the civil affairs bureau for new recruit assessments, tasking Xiong Fei with overseeing the new recruits’ training.
Inspired by Xiong Fei's leadership, Luo Ben dedicated himself to rigorous late-night training. Zhan Yan, noticing his efforts, assumed he intended to join the rescue team. However, Luo Ben clarified his philosophy: he either doesn't do something, or if he does, he strives to be the best. Elsewhere, Dapeng and Xiong Fei discussed the day's training.
Xiong Fei received a message from Luo Yuan, who told him how outstanding Luo Ben was in the team, excelling in all aspects, though she also cautioned about his bad temper. This news delighted Luo Yuan. The next day focused on medical rescue training. Zhan Yan demonstrated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). During the demonstration, Chen Xing facetiously suggested that Zhan Yan should use him as a practice dummy.
Zhou Mingming and Ding Dingding whispered to each other, both noticing Chen Xing's intention to take advantage of Zhan Yan. Unexpectedly, Zhan Yan publicly turned the tables on Chen Xing, calling him forward to demonstrate CPR and artificial respiration. Chen Xing reluctantly performed the steps on a training dummy, causing amusement among the onlookers. As a vital supporting force for national emergency rescue, Light Chaser Rescue must always be prepared for operations.
After a period of training, the base arranged the first simulated drill for the new recruits, starting with a fire rescue scenario. The team was divided into four groups, each led by a captain, tasked with evacuating 51 people within fifteen minutes. Exceeding this time limit would risk a secondary explosion. The first three groups entered the scene simultaneously but failed to control the fire immediately, resulting in delayed civilian evacuation.
Following them, the fourth group entered, where Zhou Mingming and Ding Dingding worked together seamlessly, swiftly extinguishing the blaze. Suddenly, Luo Ben, near a warehouse, discovered a mother and child. This sight triggered painful memories for him, and after a moment of stunned silence, he rushed to move objects and rescue them. As the fire intensely spread, Xiong Fei ordered all team members to evacuate immediately. Zhou Mingming found herself trapped on the third floor.
Overcoming her fear of heights, she was forced to descend safely using a rope. At this time, Luo Ben was still fully engaged in rescuing the young boy, disregarding Xiong Fei's commands, and he did not leave until the very last moment. Because Luo Ben disobeyed orders, his simulated "sacrifice" resulted in a zero score for his entire group. Xiong Fei confronted Luo Ben on the fifth floor, demanding to know why he did not evacuate.
Luo Ben explained that he had calculated the wind speed and assessed the situation, confident he had enough time to rescue the boy. Moreover, Luo Ben reminded Xiong Fei that he had once stated that rescue teams use life to save life, and Luo Ben was willing to risk his own life for the boy. Xiong Fei and Luo Ben argued intensely. Ultimately, Xiong Fei ordered Luo Ben to leave the rescue team.
Zhan Yan watched Luo Ben's dejected departure with a heavy heart. Falcon noticed Zhan Yan's concern for Luo Ben and promised to talk to him. He then asked Luo Ben for a ride, using the excuse of needing to pick up equipment. On the way to retrieve the equipment, Falcon, curious, asked Luo Ben why he was so determined to save the mother and child. Luo Ben hesitated but chose not to reveal the truth.
As they passed by the river, Falcon unexpectedly requested to get out. He stood alone on the bank, recalling moments of joy with his son. After calming his emotions and preparing to return to the car, he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. Luo Ben promptly took Falcon to the hospital. The examination results were not promising; although his hemangioma was benign, its unfortunate location and large size made surgical removal impossible, leaving only conservative treatment through ligation.
Falcon instructed Luo Ben not to disclose his condition to the team, and Luo Ben, understanding his wishes, readily agreed to keep it a secret. Zhan Yan was distressed by Falcon's medical condition. Luo Ben, noticing her sadness, invited her to an amusement arcade to sing, explaining that he always came there when feeling down. Indeed, after a few songs, Zhan Yan finally smiled, no longer appearing as upset as before.
She gradually realized that Luo Ben also carried a significant amount of pressure, not unlike her own. Later that night, Ding Dingding tried to convince Zhou Mingming to sneak out for kebabs, but Zhou Mingming hesitated due to the possibility of patrols.
