Continuing from the previous episode, Luo Yuan, startled to find an unfamiliar man later identified as Qiangzi inside her car, instinctively tried to call the police. Alarmed, Qiangzi frantically stopped her, insisting he was not a bad person and that the car belonged to his friend, Xiong Fei, who lived nearby. Qiangzi even mistook Luo Yuan for Xiong Fei's wife and, when she remained silent, wondered if she was mute.
Their misunderstanding was diffused when Xiong Fei arrived and told Qiangzi to release her. Qiangzi apologized, explaining that Luo Yuan hadn't spoken, leading Xiong Fei to reveal that Luo Yuan could hear but not speak. Qiangzi apologized again profusely. Xiong Fei reassured Luo Yuan, explaining that Qiangzi was his recently released cellmate, a big man with a good heart who had been tricked into a pyramid scheme.
Despite his past, Xiong Fei insisted Qiangzi was not inherently bad and had helped him in prison. Xiong Fei then discussed with Luo Yuan his desire to temporarily keep Qiangzi at their wonton stand to help him get on his feet, as he was newly released from jail with no money or job.
Luo Yuan, however, felt that Qiangzi was not suitable for the service industry, even though she wasn't concerned about his prison history, and subtly rejected Xiong Fei's suggestion. Xiong Fei's mother then appeared, urging them to go to bed. Xiong Fei ultimately decided to let Qiangzi stay with them until he could find a new job, a suggestion Luo Yuan reluctantly accepted.
The next morning, Qiangzi, still worried about the previous night's misunderstanding, apologized to Xiong Fei, who reassured him it was resolved. Later, while working at the wonton stand, a customer accused Qiangzi of not wearing a mask and spitting into the food, then threatened to complain about poor hygiene. Qiangzi, enraged, retorted, but Xiong Fei quickly intervened, apologizing profusely and offering the wontons for free to calm the customer.
After the customer left, Xiong Fei advised Qiangzi to control his temper, explaining that service industry workers often face unreasonable complaints. Observing this from afar, Luo Yuan's fears about Qiangzi's suitability for the job were confirmed. She confronted Xiong Fei, expressing her frustration that his actions were not helping Qiangzi and, more importantly, that he was disregarding her feelings by prioritizing Qiangzi's stay over her comfort.
Xiong Fei tried to explain that he couldn't abandon Qiangzi, who was like his past self, homeless and jobless. Zhan Yan accompanied her father, Zhan Qingshan, for a hospital check-up. She meticulously cared for him, even dictating his diet, much to his and Luo Ben's playful dismay. Both Luo Ben and Zhan Qingshan tried to secretly eat spicy food but were quickly caught by Zhan Yan. Later, Zhan Qingshan and Zhan Yan visited the grave of his wife, Zhu Xiaojie.
Zhan Qingshan expressed his relief that his recent illness had resolved long-standing misunderstandings between him and his daughter. He also shared his lifelong wish to find his son, hoping to do so before he passed away, and voiced his desire for Zhan Yan to marry Luo Ben soon, praising Luo Ben as a good man and a member of the Light Chaser Rescue team. Luo Yuan returned home visibly upset, confiding in her brother, Luo Ben, about her frustrations.
Luo Ben, noticing her distress, confronted Xiong Fei. While understanding Xiong Fei's empathy for Qiangzi, comparing Qiangzi's situation to his own past struggles after prison, Luo Ben emphasized that helping others should not strain family relationships, especially when family members object. Xiong Fei expressed the difficulty of finding suitable work for a former convict. Luo Ben then offered to help Qiangzi secure a new job and stated that Luo Yuan would stay with him until then.
He sternly warned Xiong Fei against upsetting Luo Yuan again, promising serious consequences if it happened again. Zhou Mingming tried to help Ding Dingding overcome writer's block for her comic, initially suggesting a love triangle with a new "perfect" character named Zhao Zhenkai. Ding Dingding rejected the idea of a third party, arguing it was unoriginal and that they needed to enrich the existing relationship between her comic characters, Ding Xiaoxiao and Zhou Mengmeng. However, Ding Dingding lacked "love material."
Zhou Mingming later surprised Ding Dingding with a delivery of skincare products, followed by an elaborate outdoor confession scene involving numerous drones and lights. He declared himself her "knight" and asked her to be his "princess." Ding Dingding was deeply moved, initially believing it was a marriage proposal. However, Zhou Mingming then revealed the entire spectacle was designed to provide "love material" for her comic, wishing her a great weekend.
Ding Dingding was exasperated by his insensitivity but later recounted the incident to Luo Yuan, admitting that despite her initial annoyance, she was less angry given the effort he put into the surprise. That evening, as Xiong Fei and Qiangzi were closing the wonton stand, Xiong Fei announced that Qiangzi would no longer need to work there starting the next day.
Qiangzi mistakenly thought he was being fired, but Xiong Fei quickly clarified that he had found him a new job guarding a factory warehouse. This new position included food, accommodation, monthly wages, and even insurance, requiring him to live on-site. Qiangzi was overwhelmed with gratitude, bowing and thanking Xiong Fei profusely. Soon after starting his new job, Qiangzi was wrongly accused by the warehouse supervisor of stealing goods, who implied his past record made him suspect.
He vehemently denied the accusation, arguing that he wasn't the only one working there. Xiong Fei arrived to defend Qiangzi, demanding proof. He became physically confrontational with another worker who falsely implied that Qiangzi and Xiong Fei were conspiring to steal. Meanwhile, the actual perpetrators, two other workers who had used Qiangzi as a scapegoat, casually discussed their misdeed in their dormitory.
One of them carelessly discarded an unextinguished cigarette butt into a trash can next to flammable materials, quickly igniting a fire. At the same time, Luo Ben and Ai Rui'er arrived at the Polar Land Group warehouse for a business meeting with Mr. Wang. Upon discovering the massive fire, Luo Ben and Xiong Fei bravely rushed into the inferno to rescue trapped workers. They successfully helped several people to safety.
However, during the chaotic evacuation, an explosion occurred, causing Luo Ben to fall from a significant height. This fall resulted in severe leg fractures and crush injuries. Emergency medical professionals convened a surgical discussion, with the lead surgeon concluding that Luo Ben's condition was critical, complicated by squeeze syndrome and compartment syndrome. They determined that amputation was the only option to save his life, as attempting to save the limb would lead to severe and permanent dysfunction.
