Cai Yuxiao, after witnessing his mother Lanzhi's struggle with memory loss and her confusion between him and someone named Zhuangzhuang, makes the heartfelt decision to resign from his position at the hospital and return home to care for his parents. He expresses his gratitude to Luo Ben for his support, mentioning that Zhan Yan particularly cherishes the opportunity to join Professor Koben's project in Fengxi and congratulating her on being selected.
Upon hearing this, Luo Ben confronts Zhan Yan, disappointed that she kept her plans to go to Fengxi a secret. He expected complete honesty and trust between them, emphasizing his willingness to support her career even if it meant a long-distance relationship. Zhan Yan explains she hadn't finalized her decision and was unsure how to tell him, which only deepens Luo Ben's sense of betrayal, making him feel that considering his feelings was a burden to her.
Later, Shen Ruoxi advises Zhan Yan to apologize to Luo Ben, pointing out Zhan Yan's single-mindedness and insensitivity to his feelings. Despite Zhan Yan's assertion that Luo Ben said he would support her, Shen Ruoxi insists that men's words often don't reflect their true intentions and urges Zhan Yan to reconcile. Meanwhile, Director Liu acknowledges Zhan Yan's departure as a loss for the hospital but encourages her to seize the rare opportunity with Professor Koben.
To mend their strained relationship, Zhan Yan attempts to prepare for her departure by sending Luo Ben numerous packages containing clothes for all seasons. However, Luo Ben remains upset and responds with sarcasm, making it clear he is still hurt by her lack of communication. Sensing the ongoing tension, Luo Yuan invites Zhan Yan to her wedding photo shoot with Xiong Fei the next day, hoping to ease the atmosphere.
Luo Ben also appears at the shoot, looking astonished to see Zhan Yan in a wedding dress, before continuing to confront her about her secrecy, particularly about not informing Luo Yuan of her impending three-year departure. Their conversation quickly escalates into another argument about responsibility and communication. Despite their unresolved conflict, the photographer directs Luo Ben and Zhan Yan to pose together for test shots, which result in unexpectedly intimate and sweet photos.
They eventually join Luo Yuan and Xiong Fei for a group picture. Separately, Xiong Fei advises Luo Ben to be the "bigger man" and reconcile with Zhan Yan, while Luo Yuan comforts Zhan Yan, acknowledging Luo Ben's emotional inflexibility. Zhou Mingming's mother expresses strong disapproval of his girlfriend, Ding Dingding, after personally meeting her.

However, the photographer remembers that Luo Ben, the bride's brother, took copies of all the photos that day. Luo Ben is later seen privately admiring these photos on his computer. When printing some documents, copies of the photos are accidentally printed, leading Gao Junchi to playfully tease Luo Ben about secretly planning a marriage, a notion Luo Ben quickly dismisses while retrieving the copies.
The day before the wedding, Xiong Fei and Xiong Dan put the finishing touches on the wedding room decorations. Luo Ben expresses a bittersweet sentiment to Luo Yuan about her leaving home. On the wedding day, held at the Light Chaser base, numerous friends and relatives gather for the celebration. Luo Ben, with mixed emotions, walks Luo Yuan down the aisle and entrusts her to Xiong Fei, asking him to take good care of his sister.
Zhan Yan, seeing Luo Yuan in her wedding dress, playfully teases Luo Ben about her own desire to marry him, which he jokingly dismisses. Luo Ben then confirms with Zhan Yan that she is leaving at noon the next day for Fengxi, and he intends to see her off. As Dapeng officiates the wedding, an urgent rescue message interrupts the ceremony.
Captain Zhan Qingshan immediately recognizes the gravity of the situation, as the call concerns a deep pit rescue at Fengtou Village. Despite it being his wedding day, Xiong Fei, who possesses crucial experience in over 300-meter-deep pit rescues, insists on joining the mission, with Luo Yuan's support. Zhan Qingshan reluctantly agrees, assigning Ding Dingding and Zhou Mingming to stay behind with the newlyweds.
Luo Ben bids Zhan Yan a heartfelt farewell, acknowledging he might not be able to see her off the next day, and then joins the rescue team. Zhan Yan responds by telling him to be safe and that she'll wait for him to come back. Dapeng then apologizes to the assembled guests, explaining that the critical nature of the emergency necessitates the immediate departure of the rescue team.
Upon their arrival at the Fengtou Village Pit, where caution tape has already been erected, the Light Chaser Rescue Team and medical personnel swiftly commence rescue deployment. Director Liu briefs the team on the situation: the victim, 27-year-old Hong Wei, fell into the pit while hiking with a friend the previous night, making the rescue highly challenging due to its estimated depth of over 300 meters.
Zhan Qingshan takes charge, outlining a two-group, segmented descent plan with multiple safety points, as a single-rope descent is impossible. He assigns himself and Xiong Fei to lead Group 1, with Luo Ben and Dapeng forming Group 2. Despite other team members volunteering to go first, Zhan Qingshan asserts his authority and begins his descent. Hong Wei's distraught parents are present, pleading for their son's rescue, and Zhan Qingshan reassures them that the team will do everything in their power. As they descend, Zhan Qingshan reports reaching 20 meters, then 50 meters, without spotting the victim, requesting to continue further into the abyss.
