Light Chaser Rescue Episode 15 Recap
> Light Chaser Rescue Recap
After reviewing the week's data, Zhou Mingming confronted Ding Dingding about the declining click rate of her comic. He attributed the drop to her making unauthorized changes to the story, claiming his modifications were for optimization. As her boss, Zhou Mingming declared he could not tolerate a free fall in performance and stated the need to establish strict Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
He outlined these: within one month, click rate, topic popularity, and top-search count must be at the forefront of contemporary intellectual property rankings; within three months, the comic must enter the top ten; within six months, it must complete serialization and publish a single volume; and within a year, comprehensive IP incubation must be achieved.
Ding Dingding, while appreciative of the company's intention to promote her comic, questioned why she was being told this alone, suggesting that colleagues from the Publicity, Marketing, and R&D departments should also be present. She pointed out that an author shouldn't be expected to handle marketing, revealing that she was the sole employee in the Comic Department. Zhou Mingming confirmed her heavy responsibilities, leaving her feeling bullied and exasperated.
She reluctantly agreed to optimize the comic, but back home, constant noise from upstairs disturbed her peace. The next morning, Jenny, Luo Ben's upstairs neighbor, sought his legal advice. She explained that her boyfriend had promised to marry her but then reneged, asking if the law addressed such a situation. Luo Ben informed her that a verbal promise to marry holds no legal effect and only warrants moral condemnation.
He clarified that the law protects marriage, not cohabitation, and marriage is not a necessary outcome of cohabitation. When Jenny pressed for ways to sue her boyfriend, intending to force him to marry her, Luo Ben emphasized that marriage is a voluntary act, and the law cannot compel someone to do what they are unwilling to do. He suggested her boyfriend might never have intended to marry her and advised her to speak with him honestly.
Meanwhile, Luo Yuan, at home practicing her new dance moves, received a message from Xiong Fei about his new wonton stuffing, inviting him over. As Luo Yuan's brother, Luo Ben, returned unexpectedly to retrieve his forgotten keys, Luo Yuan quickly distracted him with various excuses, insisting on getting the keys herself. Luo Ben, finding her unusually considerate, questioned if she was hiding something, but Luo Yuan skillfully deflected him by feigning impatience about her dance practice.
As soon as Luo Ben left, Xiong Fei arrived at the elevator, narrowly missing Luo Ben. Xiong Fei cooked his new wontons for Luo Yuan, who praised his cooking. Xiong Fei revealed his plan to open a steamed wonton restaurant but lamented the high rent for suitable locations. After searching for several shops without success, Luo Yuan suggested they consider a mobile food stall, inspired by one she saw on her way back.
Later, Ding Dingding confronted Zhou Mingming in his office about the employee handbook, specifically an article stating employees had an obligation to create a positive work atmosphere for the boss. She found this excessive, but Zhou Mingming dismissed her concerns, asserting his authority as her boss and reminding her that as the only employee in the Comic Department, she was solely responsible for these tasks.
He accused her of slandering him in her comics and threatened to dock her pay for bad-mouthing him. He then told her to communicate any further opinions through Li Aiqi and demanded she leave his office. Luo Ben frequented the hospital, using various pretexts to see Zhan Yan. During a check-up, he claimed to still experience chest pain, implying it might be a sequela from a previous incident. He held her hand, creating a palpable tension.
Later, Zhan Yan confided in the head nurse, a self-proclaimed love expert, expressing her confusion over her recent feelings. She admitted to previously disliking Luo Ben but now finding herself occasionally missing him. The nurse, analyzing Zhan Yan's feelings from a "love expert" perspective, suggested she had fallen for Luo Ben, a notion Zhan Yan did not deny. At the training ground, Falcon, with his dog Bun-bun, watched recruits practice lifting logs.
He demonstrated the exercise, but a sudden discomfort forced him to withdraw to a secluded spot. After recovering, he sat by the lake, eating fried chicken. Zhan Qingshan joined him, suggesting Falcon rest more, but Falcon instead urged Zhan Qingshan to resolve the strained relationship with his daughter, Zhan Yan. Falcon, sensing he had little time left, later met Luo Ben for tea, explaining that he wanted Luo Ben to help him transfer his property to his ex-wife.
As they spoke, Falcon noticed Jenny on a nearby rooftop, seemingly preparing to jump. Jenny was attempting to coerce her boyfriend, Zhu Pengfei, into marriage by threatening suicide. Zhu Pengfei pleaded with her, explaining his hesitation stemmed from his parents' negative experience with marriage. Luo Ben and Falcon, carrying ropes, rushed to the rooftop, where Ding Dingding was already trying to calm Jenny. Despite their pleas, Jenny refused to listen, turning and jumping off the building.
Luo Ben quickly grabbed her, but the rope knot was not properly secured, putting both of them at risk of falling. Falcon strained to hold the rope until the police arrived, at which point he collapsed into unconsciousness. Falcon was rushed to the hospital. Da Peng, angered, confronted Luo Ben, blaming him for Falcon's condition. Luo Ben, consumed by self-reproach, admitted he hadn't secured the knot properly.
Despite Zhan Yan's efforts during surgery, Falcon suffered a ruptured hemangioma and massive internal bleeding, leading to shock. The tumor could not be removed, and his prognosis was dire. Zhan Qingshan, hearing the news from Zhan Yan, comforted a guilt-ridden Luo Ben, reminding him that disasters are often unforeseen, and that one must face and bear the consequences. That night, Luo Ben visited the unconscious Falcon in the ICU.
As Luo Ben recounted the aftermath of the rescue, Falcon slowly regained consciousness, remarking that Luo Ben was always the first person he saw upon waking. Luo Ben initially hoped this indicated recovery, but seeing Zhan Yan weeping outside the ICU, he understood that Falcon had very little time left.
