A severe car accident on the Linjiang City highway caused a massive traffic jam. Luo Ben, an attorney, received a call from his client Ma Baoming to discuss a company merger. As he was stuck in the gridlock, Zhan Yan, a general surgeon from Central Hospital, approached his car and insisted he drive her to the accident scene. Despite Luo Ben's bewilderment, he drove her forward, only to be stopped by traffic police for occupying the emergency lane.
Zhan Yan immediately explained she was a doctor heading to an accident and took responsibility for the violation. Upon reaching the accident, they found a small car crushed by a timber truck. The trapped couple inside pleaded with Zhan Yan to save their young child first, and Luo Ben helped her retrieve the boy. Meanwhile, Director Liu from Light Chaser Rescue dispatched Xiong Fei and his team, who were closer to the scene, to assist.
As the Light Chaser Rescue team arrived, Zhan Yan calmly assessed the injured man, noting his pneumothorax, and directed the use of a hydraulic cutter to extract him. The intense rescue concluded successfully, met with applause from onlookers and widespread social media attention. On his way back to the law firm, Luo Ben discovered Zhan Yan's diving bag and ID forgotten in his back seat. He handed them to his assistant, Ai Rui'er, for safekeeping.
At the firm, Ma Baoming, having seen the viral video, playfully remarked on Luo Ben's newfound internet fame before turning to business. He explained that their merger with Ruyi Pictures was in the due diligence phase, but an illustrator named Ding Dingding was leading a rights protection movement, threatening to escalate if she wasn't given credit.
Ma Baoming expressed his frustration, revealing Ding Dingding was initially a fan of famed artist KK and had agreed to be a ghostwriter, mimicking KK's style, without demanding credit. However, she now claimed the initial agreement was just polite talk and insisted on recognition for her original story idea and significant contributions. Luo Ben noted that Ma Baoming's initial contract with the artists allowed for broad interpretation regarding credit, but Ding Dingding possessed numerous sketches proving her extensive involvement.
At the hospital, Director Zha convened a pre-operative discussion for a patient named Fang Xiaoya, presenting a treatment plan. However, Zhan Yan, who had just returned from vacation, adamantly rejected it, opting to perform the surgery herself. The head nurse noticed junior nurses gossiping about Zhan Yan and Cai Yuxiao, both candidates for the deputy director position in General Surgery.

However, Zhan Yan firmly stated her commitment to patient responsibility, asserting that being a doctor meant prioritizing the patient's best interest over appeasing seniors, a fundamental difference in their approaches.
Amidst her candidacy for deputy director and preparations for a professional title evaluation, Zhan Yan suddenly remembered leaving her diving bag in Luo Ben's car. Just as she contemplated how to retrieve it, she received alarming news that her cousin, Ding Dingding, was threatening to jump from a rooftop.
