Sensing Shen Xieqing’s recovery, Xie Minghao confessed that while he once liked Su Xieyi, he now realized Shen Xieqing was the one he loved most. He declared she was the only person who would sacrifice everything for him and asked for her protection in return for his. Meanwhile, Ji Yingsong informed Li Zeliang that he had located Xie Minghao’s new apartment and suspected Shen Xieqing was being hidden there.
Ji Yingsong believed Xie Minghao’s secrecy proved his guilt in past events and worried he might harm Shen Xieqing. Li Zeliang, however, cautioned against acting rashly, preferring to devise a plan first. At Ocean Group, Shi Chuchu returned from her break, stating she couldn't rest with important work pending. Li Zeliang informed her that Su Xieyi had selected the supplier for the Lantian Bay project's external wall insulation.
He also expressed his hope for no more misunderstandings between her and Su Xieyi. Shi Chuchu agreed, admitting she was wrong to have impulsively questioned Su Xieyi about He Jianghua and should have trusted Li Zeliang's judgment. Before she left, Li Zeliang asked her to summon Xie Minghao for an urgent contract discussion. When Shi Chuchu called, Xie Minghao agreed to come to the company.
After he left, having locked the door to prevent her from leaving, Shen Xieqing deliberately triggered the apartment's smoke alarm. When property management arrived to investigate the alarm and opened the door, she seized the opportunity to escape. The building staff reported the incident to Xie Minghao, who claimed the woman was his mentally unstable sister and that he would find her. Shortly after, Shen Xieqing contacted Li Zeliang.
Now lucid, she confessed she couldn't face Su Xieyi because she, Shen Xieqing, was the "K of Spades." Driven by lifelong feelings of inferiority as an adopted daughter and jealousy that Zhiwei would belong to Su Xieyi, she had conspired with Huo Jian to embezzle from the company. She tearfully recounted that their father, upon discovering her actions, committed suicide to protect her, making her realize he had always loved her as his own.
Li Zeliang challenged her story, pointing out that Xie Minghao’s and Huo Jian’s timely appearances during the search for Liu Ahwei were too coincidental for her to have orchestrated alone, and that Xie Minghao never truly loved her. Shen Xieqing, however, insisted Su Xieyi couldn't handle this truth, citing her past amnesia, and begged Li Zeliang for time before she would take responsibility. During their conversation, Su Xieyi called Li Zeliang, who lied about being with a male client.
Shen Xieqing then denied the existence of a secret bank account Li Zeliang asked about, claiming the money was gone and that Xie Minghao's fate was in his own hands. Later, at Ocean Group, Shi Chuchu, trusting Xie Minghao who had drafted the procurement contract, signed it without a final review. Su Xieyi also signed. Unbeknownst to them, the supplier had swapped the contract with a fraudulent one. Immediately after, Xie Minghao called Su Xieyi to report Shen Xieqing missing.
They rushed to the river, where they found Shen Xieqing's doll and a suicide note, leading a distraught Su Xieyi to believe her sister had drowned. Li Zeliang comforted the devastated Su Xieyi, who blamed herself for neglecting her sister. Bound by his promise, Li Zeliang couldn't reveal his meeting with Shen Xieqing but was troubled by the suspicious circumstances of her disappearance, particularly the doll which she didn't have when he saw her.
Unbeknownst to them, Xie Minghao was watching security footage of Li Zeliang and Shen Xieqing's meeting, remarking that she had given him "another useful card" to play. While Li Zeliang was out buying crabs to cook for Su Xieyi, Xie Minghao called her, pretending to be drunk and heartbroken over Shen Xieqing. Worried, Su Xieyi rushed to his apartment, where he hugged her and begged her not to leave him.
He then revealed that Shen Xieqing had met with Li Zeliang right before she disappeared, showing Su Xieyi a video of their meeting as proof. Su Xieyi was in disbelief, stating that Li Zeliang had told her he was with a client that day.
