Legend of Zang Hai Episode 28 Recap
> Legend of Zang Hai Recap
Zhuang Zhixing urged Zhuang Luyin to surrender and even threatened to die if he refused. Zhuang Luyin slashed his sword at him. Zhuang Zhixing tried to persuade him not to resist stubbornly, saying he was doomed this time. Zhuang Zhixing swore to restore the Zhuang family’s honor. Zhuang Luyin didn’t believe he had the capability and challenged him. He launched a full-force attack, but Zhuang Zhixing countered every move with ease.
Only then did Zhuang Luyin realize that he had aged. Seeing his soldiers nearly all dead or injured, he knew his cause was lost. To protect Zhuang Zhixing, he pressed closer and closer, finally deliberately throwing himself onto Zhuang Zhixing’s sword. With his last breath, Zhuang Luyin urged Zhuang Zhixing to restore the Zhuang family, then collapsed and died. Zang Hai witnessed the scene and was deeply moved.
The commander of the Imperial Guards, seeing that Zhuang Luyin was dead, persuaded the surviving soldiers to surrender, and they had no choice but to comply. Zhuang Zhixing was taken away by the Imperial Guards. The emperor assigned Cao Jingxian to handle the case of Zhang Lang and the others breaking into the prison. Cao Jingxian suggested allowing Zhuang Zhixing to keep his whole body after death.
After careful consideration, the emperor decided to assign Zhuang Zhixing to guard the frontier. The emperor appointed Zang Hai as Vice Minister of Works and also made him Director of the Imperial Astronomical Bureau. Zang Hai recommended Shi Quan as the Deputy Director. The emperor issued a decree to reclaim the Marquis of Pingjin’s residence. Zang Hai was ordered to carry it out. The once-glorious residence was now in complete disarray.
Zhuang Zhixing was sent to guard the borderlands, the very place where Zhuang Luyin had once led troops. Before departing, Zhuang Zhixing visited his mother’s grave. Zang Hai came to see him off. Zhuang Zhixing congratulated Zang Hai on his promotion. Zang Hai said he still had two enemies left to kill and would have to wait for the right opportunity. He assigned Shilei and Guanfeng to escort Zhuang Zhixing to the border.
As they bid farewell, Zang Hai told him to keep moving forward and never look back. Zhuang Zhixing spurred his horse and set off on his journey. Zang Hai watched his departing figure with mixed emotions—he had destroyed someone as pure as Zhuang Zhixing in the name of revenge. Lu Ran urged Cao Jingxian to eliminate Zhuang Zhixing to cut the weeds and dig up the roots, but Cao Jingxian didn’t want to be accused of injustice.
He preferred Zhuang Zhixing to die at the border. Cao Jingxian had people thoroughly search the Marquis of Pingjin’s residence but still couldn’t find the Gui Seal. He decided to search the residence personally. The masked master came to see Zang Hai and congratulated him on eliminating Zhuang Luyin, but Zang Hai couldn’t feel happy. He felt guilty for what had happened to Zhuang Zhixing. Zang Hai didn’t understand why Cao Jingxian wanted to find the Gui Seal.
The masked master speculated that Cao Jingxian wanted to use the Gui Seal as a talisman for safety. Holding great power under the emperor’s trust, Cao Jingxian feared for his life once the emperor was gone. Zang Hai concluded that Cao Jingxian would return to the residence to search for the Gui Seal. He had already set a trap in the cellar so that if Cao Jingxian showed up, he would surely die.
The masked master praised Zang Hai repeatedly but was concerned that Queen of Dongxia might come to hold Zang Hai accountable. Zang Hai had left Xiang Antu in his residence as a hostage. As Zang Hai predicted, Cao Jingxian brought Lu Yan and Lu Ran to the residence’s treasury cellar. They searched around, and Lu Yan found a hidden compartment in the wall, which contained a trap box left by Zang Hai.
Cao Jingxian told Lu Yan and Lu Ran to stand in front of him, but he didn’t expect Zang Hai to have also set a trap behind them. Cao Jingxian was injured by the mechanism. Zang Hai went to find Xiang Antu, who was chatting with Liu Chu. Xiang Antu had heard that Zhuang Luyin had been killed and that Cao Jingxian had fallen into Zang Hai’s trap.
She warned Zang Hai not to harm her mother; otherwise, she would never forgive him. Gao Ming brought Liu Chu some tonic medicine, trying hard to win her favor. Liu Chu planned to leave the capital that very night and asked Gao Ming to put a heater in her carriage.
