You Are My Glory Episode 16 Recap
> You Are My Glory Recap
After analyzing detailed design reports and blueprints, Yu Tu suspected that the experiment's failure was due to electromagnetic interference. He discussed with Zhao Bo about the five-fold difference in current between flat ground and slopes, confirming that interference from the power line on the electric machine's Hall effect sensor was the problem, caused by the 1. 6 mm distance between them, leaving no margin for error. A colleague suggested simulating the situation, so Yu Tu proposed a wheel loading test.
During the initial slope test, the wheel speed was inconsistent, and the Hall effect sensor showed abnormal spikes due to the high chopper frequency and current, confirming the interference. The team then reconfigured the setup, separating the signal and power lines. A second slope test showed normal wheel operation and Hall effect sensor waveforms, indicating the problem was resolved. Yu Tu instructed his colleague, Zhang, to leave early to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday. Later, Mr. Hu and Professor Zhang arrived.
Mr. Hu praised Yu Tu's composed and efficient handling of the issue, recognizing him as an outstanding beginner. Professor Zhang added that Yu Tu still needed to hone his skills. Mr. Hu then announced that Guan Zai, who was originally scheduled to lead the next month's field test for the Beijing-collaborated rover project, would be unavailable.
He assigned Yu Tu to take over part of Guan Zai's work and to lead Research Project Uno, with further arrangements to be decided later. Professor Zhang then pulled Yu Tu aside, asking why Guan Zai wouldn't be returning next month and if Yu Tu had been keeping information from him. Yu Tu revealed that Guan Zai didn't want others to worry but confirmed he was having surgery in two days.
Soon, Professor Zhang, Mr. Hu, and other colleagues gathered outside the operating room. Guan Zai's wife was also present, anxiously awaiting news. Dr. Huang eventually emerged, announcing that the surgery was successful. He advised them that Guan Zai would be available after the anesthesia wore off and recommended family visit him a few days later to allow for ample rest. Relieved, Guan Zai's wife and colleagues waited to see him before departing.
Later, Zhai Liang commented to Yu Tu that he seemed quiet and in a bad mood, suspecting it was due to Guan Zai's condition. Yu Tu urged him to focus on their work so Guan Zai wouldn't worry. Zhai Liang also wondered if a new leader would be assigned to Research Project Uno. When Yu Tu visited Guan Zai in the hospital, Guan Zai was surprised to see him but grateful for the company.
Yu Tu confirmed he had decided to return to the institute permanently. Guan Zai speculated that Yu Tu's return was partly for him, which Yu Tu playfully dismissed. They discussed the project, with Guan Zai asking about his modification plans for Project Uno. Yu Tu confirmed he had reviewed them and found some viable, but also expressed his determination to prove that the "unrealistic goals" they once had were achievable.
Guan Zai supported Yu Tu's conviction but admitted his illness meant he could no longer lead the project, and Yu Tu currently lacked the experience. Guan Zai believed Tong Bo was the most likely successor, a kind and professional individual, but whose conservative mindset might lack foresight, leading to a project that would not be internationally competitive in a few years.
Yu Tu revealed that he, Da Meng, and Xiao Hu had discussed it and wanted to continue with the current plan. Due to their junior status, they planned to persuade a professor to lead the project. With about a month until the satellite launch and two months before it was handed over to Xi'an Control, they aimed to iterate on the plan and convince a senior faculty member. Guan Zai acknowledged Yu Tu's thoroughness, urging him to strive for it.
Finally, Guan Zai asked Yu Tu to name the project, suggesting they stop calling it "Uno." Yu Tu proposed "Search for God," signifying a mission to seek truth about Earth and humanity's origins, and the possibility of other miracles, to prove mankind is not alone. Guan Zai approved the name and entrusted Yu Tu with the "Search for God" project, advising him to visit the hospital less frequently. Meanwhile, in Beijing, Xia Qing met with a friend at a bar.
Her friend noted Xia Qing's continued preoccupation with Yu Tu, despite her claims of never regretting their breakup. Xia Qing defended her past decision, citing Yu Tu's "selfishness" for pursuing his aerospace dream at the expense of a higher salary, which would have left her solely responsible for their financial future in expensive Beijing. Her friend, however, countered that both Xia Qing and Yu Tu were self-centered and prone to uncompromising arguments, suggesting their breakup was clean.
Xia Qing conceded that Yu Tu could date anyone, but vehemently opposed him being with Qiao Jingjing. A high school flashback showed her unease about other girls, including Jingjing, having crushes on Yu Tu. Her friend reminded her that Yu Tu had rejected Jingjing's confession in high school. Xia Qing responded that "fame sure does come in handy" now. Driven by this "unresolved feeling" and unwillingness to lose to Jingjing, Xia Qing decided to travel to Shanghai.
Upon arrival, Xia Qing tried to organize a class reunion to see Yu Tu. Yu Tu, however, was busy and asked Zhai Liang to decline the invitation. Unable to meet him through the reunion, Xia Qing called Yu Tu directly. She asked about "Ms. Qiao" from a previous class gathering, and Yu Tu promptly replied, "It's Jingjing, of course." After the call, Yu Tu returned home to eat instant noodles.
Zhai Liang, who found Yu Tu hard to reach since he started working long hours, relayed Xia Qing's persistent invitations, but Yu Tu remained unavailable. Unyielding, Xia Qing obtained Yu Tu's workplace address from Zhai Liang and insisted on waiting for him at a coffee shop nearby. Yu Tu, unable to deter Xia Qing, went to meet her. Recalling their past breakup, where Xia Qing had left him due to his career choices, Yu Tu arrived with a solemn expression.
Xia Qing, driven by her "unresolved feelings" and a desire not to "lose" to Jingjing, subtly questioned Yu Tu about Jingjing, even hinting at Jingjing's success in the "complicated and dubious" entertainment industry. Yu Tu grew increasingly displeased. He apologized for his youthful thoughtlessness in agreeing to their relationship, admitting he hadn't considered what he needed to contribute beyond appreciating her independence.
He acknowledged he was not an ideal partner, and she had been smart to end things when she did. Xia Qing took offense at his "generosity," questioning the point of their meeting after so long. She remarked that his return to the institute meant "worldly possessions no longer concern" him, and wished him luck in "holding onto his precious chance." After his encounter with Xia Qing, Yu Tu found himself watching Jingjing's interview videos, his thoughts constantly on her.
Zhai Liang, who had earlier given Xia Qing Yu Tu's address, expressed his doubt that Xia Qing would contact Yu Tu again. Yu Tu, however, was more concerned about Jingjing. Zhai Liang mentioned that Jingjing, as "Cotton," was adorable but also commented on the distance between them, noting that she had disappeared without a word after two months of playing games, attributing it to her "superstar" status. Yu Tu asked if Jingjing had logged into the game again.
Zhai Liang checked her game history, finding it stopped on the day of their competition, but noted her impressive last two matches. Yu Tu then revealed that Jingjing had given him two tickets for the event, intending for both him and Zhai Liang to go, but he hadn't invited Zhai Liang. He clarified that Jingjing's absence wasn't arbitrary; he had upset her, and he urged Zhai Liang not to misunderstand her.
