With You Episode 10 Recap
> With You Recap
Xia Yan's mother, distraught, confronted Xu Cheng Yi, asserting that he was the one who had caused all of Xia Yan's problems. As she demanded an explanation, a nurse interrupted, announcing that Xia Xue Li was in critical condition and needed a signature for the notice. This news caused Xia Yan's mother to faint in shock. Xu Cheng Yi stood by, looking helpless.
Han Shuang urged Xia Yan to stay where she was and wait for news, while Han Shuang herself went to check on Xia Yan's mother. Xu Cheng Yi approached Xia Yan, offering comfort and advising her to take care of herself, reminding her that if she collapsed, no one would be left to look after her parents. Xia Yan was overwhelmed with guilt, regretting her argument with her father.
She wished she had simply humored him, acknowledging that job issues like a bullying boss could be resolved by resignation, but now with both parents ill, she felt powerless. As Xia Yan wept, Xu Cheng Yi watched her, his expression complex, unsure of what to say. Xia Yan then dropped her father's wallet, which sent a wave of foreboding through her. Moments later, the doctor arrived to announce that Xia Xue Li's surgery was a success.
Simultaneously, Han Shuang returned with the good news that Xia Yan's mother had also woken up and was doing well, only suffering from high blood pressure. Relieved, Xia Yan finally let out a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, Hao Jie noticed Lin Hao struggling with Old Li's case and offered to step in. However, Lin Hao insisted on handling it himself, determined to prove his worth and avoid being seen as "just a pretty boy."
Hao Jie affirmed her trust in him, saying she hadn't misjudged him. Lin Hao then reminded her of her earlier promise to make him a legal owner of the company, which he believed would change how others perceived him and prevent him from being bullied. Hao Jie reassured him, promising to fulfill her word and begin the process the very next day.
Zhao Xiaolei's younger brother, Xiao Jun, informed her that he had quit his job and found a new one with Lin Hao and Hao Jie. He suggested that Lin Hao had found happiness after leaving Xia Yan. Xiao Jun urged his sister to quickly find someone to marry, even suggesting the older man she recently met, as he seemed caring, mature, and in his "golden years" compared to men her age. Later, Xiao Jun went to the man's book bar.
His behavior and comments about the book bar's lack of profitability and the possibility of converting it into a restaurant were clearly off-putting. He even offered to help manage the book bar, but the owner, who publishes books and cherishes his establishment for fostering literary discussions, politely but firmly told Xiao Jun that he needed someone who loved and understood books, implying Xiao Jun was not that person.
Back at the hospital, after Xia Xue Li regained consciousness, he and Xia Yan's mother discussed Xia Yan returning to Anshan to work. They also stressed that the final decision was hers, not wanting to force her. Xia Yan, not wanting to cause her parents any more distress, agreed to move back to Anshan. Her friends were saddened by the news.
Han Shuang speculated that Xia Yan was leaving because of Xu Cheng Yi, but Xia Yan clarified that her decision was solely for her parents, who were accustomed to the north and she feared for their health. The friends shared a tearful embrace, reluctant to part ways, though Xia Yan admitted her reluctance to leave the vibrant city she had lived in for ten years.
Xia Yan later sought out Mark, pressing him to reveal everything he knew about Lin Hao. Armed with this information, she confronted Xu Cheng Yi, demanding to know why he hadn't informed her earlier about Lin Hao's infidelity. Xu Cheng Yi countered by asking if she would have believed him then, to which Xia Yan conceded she probably wouldn't have.
He then explained that his subtle hints were prompted by his own similar past experience: he was also treated as a "backup" in college when his girlfriend, who was studying abroad, began a relationship with another man. Xu Cheng Yi reflected that Xia Yan, having grown up in a loving home, was fortunate to still believe in love despite being betrayed by a "scumbag" like Lin Hao, a belief he himself no longer held.
After this candid confession, Xu Cheng Yi left. Upon Xia Xue Li's recovery and discharge, Xia Yan presented her father with a gift: his cherished walnuts that her mother had intended to discard. Xia Xue Li was delighted, praising Xia Yan for being a thoughtful daughter and grateful for her and her friends retrieving the walnuts. Xu Cheng Yi then met with Xia Yan downstairs, ostensibly to discuss the hospital bills he had initially covered.
He suggested she could repay him in installments deducted from her salary if she continued working at the company. He argued that her parents weren't yet at an age requiring constant care (perhaps not for another ten or twenty years), and that her youth was precious and shouldn't be spent with regrets.
He reiterated that he wasn't foregoing the money, but offering a flexible repayment plan, and pointed out that her hometown might not offer the same opportunities as Xinzhou for her talents. Unbeknownst to them, Xia Xue Li overheard their conversation from upstairs and found Xu Cheng Yi's arguments quite reasonable. Later, Xia Yan's parents called her into their room, wanting to discuss her return home.
They made it clear they wanted to know her true feelings, not just their wishes, acknowledging that Han Shuang's earlier words about her staying might reflect Xia Yan's own desires. After a moment of hesitation, Xia Yan expressed her desire to remain in Xinzhou, believing that a big city offered the necessary opportunities and space for her professional growth and development, which she couldn't achieve in their hometown.
