Mo Nv bravely attempted to prevent Di Mian from activating the All-in-Distress Way. However, the Devil God, who possessed Di Mian, sensed her presence, taunting her about her deceased sister, Si Ying, and demanding her submission. Mo Nv retorted that she was there to join her sister and attacked. As the Devil God tried to absorb her powers, Zhaoyou arrived and rescued Mo Nv, urging her to flee.
The Devil God then declared that all beings should submit to him and the All-in-Distress Way. As the All-in-Distress Way began to consume the demonic energy of the entire Barren Abyss, its ominous presence spread, alarming people and immortal sects across the realms. Zhaoyou confronted Di Mian, realizing that he was completely under the Devil God's control. Zhaoyou tried to destroy the nascent formation, but the possessed Di Mian violently resisted, injuring both.
During their struggle, the Devil God's influence temporarily vanished. Di Mian regained consciousness and, noticing the All-in-Distress Way felt weaker than expected, concluded he needed to gather more sorrow and resentment to fully empower it and become the new Devil God. Zhaoyou, observing this, deduced that the All-in-Distress Way could not achieve its full power without a direct connection to the Devil God. Di Mian, however, warned Zhaoyou that escape was futile and he would soon rule all realms.
Li Susu eventually located the Devil Palace entrance, determined to confront the Devil God. Di Mian greeted her, claiming his past actions were driven by hidden difficulties, not a desire to harm her. With the All-in-Distress Way now active and the Devil God's power flowing through him, he proclaimed he was on the verge of becoming the sole God by sacrificing enough sorrow, grief, resentment, and hatred. Li Susu, filled with bitter sarcasm, acknowledged his words.
Overcome with hatred for Di Mian, whom she believed had killed her foster father Qu Xuanzi, Li Susu attacked him. Di Mian denounced her for turning against her own biological father for an outsider, likening her rebellious nature to her mother's. He recounted his ten millennia of suffering to reach this moment, expressing his profound disappointment in her defiance. In response, Li Susu scornfully called him "pathetic."
Enraged, Di Mian moved to kill Li Susu, intending to sacrifice her sorrow and hatred to the All-in-Distress Way as a perverse repayment for her birth. However, Cang Jiumin arrived, intercepting Di Mian's attack. Di Mian furiously attacked Cang Jiumin with the Sky-Slashing Sword, but to his disbelief, Cang Jiumin effortlessly took the sword from him. Cang Jiumin then used the Sky-Slashing Sword to kill Di Mian, stating that he should have died long ago.
After Di Mian fell, Cang Jiumin declared that he had avenged Qu Xuanzi. After Di Mian's death, Cang Jiumin absorbed the evil bones from his body, transforming into the Devil God before Li Susu’s horrified eyes. He offered a brief apology to Susu as he underwent the transformation. Just then, Gongye Jiwu arrived, frantically urging Li Susu to leave, revealing that Tantai Jin had "fallen as the devil" and had killed Zhaoyou.
Li Susu, in disbelief, confronted Cang Jiumin, pleading with him to deny Zhaoyou’s murder and demanding to know if he was Tantai Jin or the Devil God. The newly formed Devil God coldly confirmed Zhaoyou’s death and proclaimed his true identity, dismissing Li Susu as foolish. He then extracted the Soul-Devouring Nail from her body, crushed it, and declared that all their past entanglements were now as broken and useless as the shattered nail, asking if she was "happy."
Gongye Jiwu swiftly cast a mystical art to rescue Li Susu from the Devil Palace. Once they were safe, he warned her vehemently not to trust Tantai Jin, reminding her that his true nature was unchangeable and that he was now a heartless Devil God who had killed his own master. A flashback revealed the events that had transpired earlier. Zhaoyou had rescued Cang Jiumin from a demon-slaying formation, creating a protective boundary for him.
Zhaoyou had firmly believed in Cang Jiumin’s innocence regarding the stolen evil bones, asserting that Di Mian was the true culprit. Later, Zhaoyou returned to Xiaoyao Sect, severely wounded. He revealed to Cang Jiumin that Di Mian had become the Devil God and had activated the All-in-Distress Way, threatening the Three Realms with imminent suffering.
Zhaoyou explained that the All-in-Distress Way could only be ended by the Devil God, for their destinies were intertwined: "When the Devil God exists, the All-in-Distress Way will exist. When the Devil God perishes, the All-in-Distress Way will perish." Zhaoyou, having been tainted by the Devil energy of the All-in-Distress Way, knew he was on the verge of turning into a demon. He begged Cang Jiumin to kill him to prevent his complete demonization.
Despite Cang Jiumin’s agony and reluctance, Zhaoyou implored him, stating it was the only way to save others. With his last breaths, Zhaoyou revealed that while Cang Jiumin, an immortal disciple, could not save the world, Tantai Jin, the Devil God, could. He explained that although this path was profoundly unfair, it was the only chance to prevent the Devil God from destroying the world. Understanding his master's sacrifice, Cang Jiumin painfully complied, ending Zhaoyou’s life.
With this tragic understanding, Cang Jiumin accepted his harsh destiny, resolving to absorb the evil bones and become the Devil God Tantai Jin as the only means to end the All-in-Distress Way. Meanwhile, after being rescued by Zhaoyou, Mo Nv’s demonic identity was accidentally discovered by Gongye Jiwu. She then confessed her true nature and recounted her past mortal trial as Ye Bingchang, her love for Xiao Lin, and her regret over his death five hundred years ago.
She admitted that she had sought to assuage her guilt through Gongye Jiwu, who bore a striking resemblance to Xiao Lin. However, she now understood that Xiao Lin was irrevocably gone, and Gongye Jiwu, despite his similarities, was not him. The Devil God Tantai Jin, having tried numerous methods to close the All-in-Distress Way without success, realized time was running out.
He recalled the Bo're Life dream, where the previous Devil God's evil bone could only be extracted when the All-in-Distress Way was fully empowered by the three devil artifacts. Tantai Jin devised a plan to gather these three artifacts to replicate that exact scenario. His ultimate goal was that once the evil bone was extracted, he, along with the Devil God's influence, could be annihilated, thereby ending the All-in-Distress Way with his own demise.
Separately, Chief Cen of the Chixiao Sect, reveling in the deaths of Qu Xuanzi and Zhaoyou, believed he could now wield the God-slaughtering Crossbow to unite all immortal sects under his command. However, Mo Nv appeared, killed him, and seized the God-slaughtering Crossbow. She then delivered the artifact to Tantai Jin.
Mo Nv explained that she wanted to fulfill her sister Si Ying's lifelong desire to witness the Devil God's return, a wish she now intended to fulfill on her sister's behalf, and offered her allegiance. However, Tantai Jin, not wanting her to be involved in his destructive plans, urged her to live her own life, free from the past.
Despite Gongye Jiwu's desperate warnings about Tantai Jin's escalating evil—his murder of Zhaoyou, the theft of the God-slaughtering Crossbow, and a potential conspiracy with Di Mian—Li Susu remained convinced Tantai Jin had a hidden reason for his actions. She resolved to confront him directly. Gongye Jiwu, unable to sway her from this perilous path, reluctantly disowned her as a disciple of Hengyang Sect and as his junior sister, allowing her to depart on her chosen, dangerous course.
With the God-slaughtering Crossbow now in his possession, Tantai Jin, as the Devil God, needed only the Bone-refining Seal to complete the three devil artifacts. To ensure Li Susu would completely abandon any lingering hope for him and to provoke the immortal sects into a final, merciless confrontation, he gathered a vast army of monsters in the Barren Abyss.
Declaring himself their master and his ambition for "the world in chaos, eternal shared sorrow," he announced his possession of the Sky-Slashing Sword and the God-slaughtering Crossbow, and his imminent plan to retrieve the Bone-refining Seal from the Hengyang Sect. He stated that combining the three artifacts would unleash the All-in-Distress Way's maximum power. He then activated a powerful array to summon the Bone-refining Seal.
Despite Gongye Jiwu's valiant but futile efforts to protect the artifact, Tantai Jin effortlessly acquired it without revealing himself, mocking Gongye Jiwu's resistance. With all three devil artifacts now absorbed, Tantai Jin finally experienced the true and overwhelming power of the All-in-Distress Way.
